Hampton inn, Embassy Suites, or Hyatt inmates: Your best dinner choice. Â Quiet, relaxed sports bar with burgers, beef on weck (served with Awesome tater tots!), steaks and more. Â Service is a little slow but super friendly. Â Adam is the mellowest bartender in BFLO. Â Fair prices and plenty of food.
Review Source:I can't say that it's perfect because there are slightly better drinks to be had, and slightly better atmospheres to drink in.. however.. Century is perfect at what it does..
If you're looking for a place to grab some food, you'll find delicious bites here, MUCH better than you'll find at Pearl Street Grill... (in my opinion), but I've honestly only eaten at the bar (read: Happy Hour).. and I'm very happy in just drinking here because..
Hopefully it's the weekend and Adam will be working.. a gentlemen of the highest caliber.. also a bartender in the truest sense of the word. Â After a few visits he knows your face and usually your drink of choice, and if you need some simple conversation he's amazing..
All in all, if you're looking for a drink downtown, you'd be hard pressed to find a better place to imbibe... head there on Saturdays for free bacon at the bar!
Great bar/restaurant in the heart of Buffalo. My college buddies and I found this place years ago and I've gone back a handful of times since.
If you're staying at the Hyatt and reading this review, walk across the street and grab some great Buffalo favorites.
Service: Always great. This recent waitress of mine was especially friendly and considerate.
Menu: Not the biggest but you won't be displeased.
Food: It's all delicious. I've ordered many different items and never been unsatisfied. The oysters are delicious. Wings are plump. I had a black bean and chicken quesadilla which was meaty and fresh. Of all the things I've had there, I honestly love their salsa and chips ($4 app). Their salsa is house-made and very fresh. They need to put that $hit in a bottle and sell it.
Atmosphere: Dark and lots of wood. Bring a flashlight if your eyes aren't good. Lots of table and booth seating. It's fun to eat upstairs...whenever it's not reserved.
Bacon at the bar!!!
This place over the Pan-Am any day.
Nice place to catch a beer and some decent food in Downtown Buffalo. The food is tasty and the waitstaff is pleasant and capable. I was there when a live band was playing. I was surprised to find that I was still able to carry on a conversation while the band was doing their thing which is not only rare but very much welcomed.
Review Source:Big fan!!! Can't beat a happy hour with free tater tots (and delicious ones at that) and sometimes free bacon! That beats a bowl of pretzels or popcorn any day. Â This bar knows how to please its patrons.
Also, a killer draft beer selection.
The bartenders can be hit or miss, with some friendlier than others.
Fun happy hour crowd - professionals but nobody seems stuffy (come on, if they are coming for free tater tots you know they're cool).
The food is decent, I don't have any complaints. Â But I wouldn't say it's the absolute best I've had either. Â Come here for their great happy hour and if you need to buy some food to tide you over (if you haven't stuffed yourself on tater tots) then you can't go wrong with their pub fare.
An awesome local bar. Â Reminded me of my home Providence. Â Friendly bartender, local beers, and good food. Â
I asked for a local food favorite and was told that the "Beef on Weck" was one. Â Before me came a sandwich with tender moist beef slices on a "wet", salty roll. Â Yum! Â I ate everything but the napkin. Â
Paired with a couple cold Flying Bison Octoberfest draughts and  I was transformed from a weary traveler into a happy guy. Â
If and when I'm back in Buffalo, you can bet I'm going to get back to Century Grill. They made me feel at home and that's about all you can ask.
The Century grill is Grrrreat. Â A historic building of Buffalo, along with the amazingly HUGE original Mason's Event lounge and meeting room next door, this establishment is an excellent place to grab some guaranteed savory and well portioned plates.
The Century Burger is the most unique meat between bread sandwich in Buffalo. Â The Blackened Steak Salad is delicious and healthy. Â There are twenty delicious drafts always on tap, half of which are usually local (WNY/NY brews).
The tots are an excellent snack, plain, not loaded; as well as the loaded nachos!
There really isn't a meal that doesn't satisfy here.
It's a great environment, centralized around the convention center, hyatt, hampton inn; you will always meet interesting visitors as well as die hard local sports fans.
Came here for Happy Hour on a Friday because we heard there were free tator tots. Â That was exciting and the tots were awesome - not smushy cafeteria one - actual crispy and delish! Â Â The crowd was mature and well dressed - probably business professionals coming in after work. Â But the atmosphere was casual - publike. Â Cool woodwork and old decor. Â Was much more impressed than I expected.
Review Source:Since the Pearl Street Grill was jammed full, I came to this place instead. Â Twice I've been to the Century Grill...and neither time did it disappoint. Â It's a typical bar and grill. Â There's a fair amount of seating with mainly booths and some tables on a raised mezzanine. Â While not as packed as the Pearl Street Grill, it can get quite boisterous when people are at the bar, cheering on the local teams like the Buffalo Sabers (hockey) and Buffalo Bills (American football). Â If you're sitting underneath the mezzanine, the screeching of tables & chairs being moved around can get annoying too. Â So what exactly is available at this joint? Â It's standard bar fare like chicken wings, shrimp, burgers and sandwiches. Â If you're not from Buffalo, this is a good place to sample the local cuisine. Â They carry local beers like Flying Bison and Southern Tier, which are surprisingly good. Â For dessert, they carry Perry's, a local brand of ice cream (try the red velvet). Â The rest of the offerings are decent too. Â I recommend the beef on kimmelweck, Buffalo's signature sandwich. Â It's roast beef and horseradish (to the side) on a salt roll. Â As a warning, it can get quite mess however.
Overall, the Century Grill is a super duper bar and is worth going to.
We went here because it was a stone's throw from the Hyatt Regency (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz/hyatt-regency-buffalo#hrid:-NTM6Png2VAX6o1-ZH1xkw">http://www.yelp.com/biz/…</a>).
I wasn't too hungry, so I only had a shrimp cocktail, garden salad, and some buffalo wings.
Shrimp cocktail - fine, your average shrimp cocktail.
Garden salad - greens were not the freshest, balsamic vinaigrette was incredibly sour and pucker-y. Â Get some different balsamic, please.
Buffalo wings - tasty! Â A good size with quite a bit of meat on each wing. Â The sauce is more oily than what I am used to, but I also encountered a similar sauce at other buffalo wings in the area, so I'm guessing this is the traditional way to make buffalo wings.
Beer selection - pretty good and includes east coast brews. Â Had a tasty Red Hook beer, I think.
Others had some sort of steak and beer special for a ridiculously cheap price (I want to say $15? before tax and tip). Â They got what they paid for. Â The steaks were tiny, thin, and kind of gristly.
There were some cozy-looking booths made of dark wood that reminded me of little forts or treehouses, but unfortunately our group was too big to fit in them. Â We sat at a long table that had a ceiling fan 10-12 feet above us, spinning madly and swinging perilously. Â We asked the waitress to turn it off, but she wouldn't, saying that it's been doing that for years. Â OK, but some peace of mind would have been nice.
If I were staying at the Hyatt again and feeling lazy, I'd probably come here again.
FOOD: This place has pretty good Buffalo chicken wings.
SERVICE: The wait staff here is very friendly.
CLEANINESS: The dinning area and bathrooms are clean.
ATMOSPHERE: It is a traditional sports bar composed mainly of dark wood where masculine individuals can gather to watch the current sports game that's on.
OTHER NOTES: The look of the sports bar is beautiful. Â It's filled with wooden tables, bench chair booths, and floors. Â They have 3 televisions.
Good place for evening drinks and dinner. Â Note two things: 1) they don't open until 4 PM, and 2) they don't allow any children under 18. Â Consequently, this is a fine place for an after work cocktail or a basic but decent American-bistro style meal. Â Friendly and efficient service, and a nice dark wood interior further the appeal of this pub. Â Reasonable prices, good-sized portions. Â All in all, a good find.
Review Source:This is my favorite place to either grab a cocktail or sit down and have dinner. Â In my honest opinion, their wings are the best in the city. Â The menu is full of delicious entrees from unique burgers (Century Burger or the Rod Jeremy) to Pot Roast, and a great steak. Â It's also in perfect proximity from downtown hotels (Hyatt Regency is across the street).
I always encourage business contacts to check out Century Grill and hope you do the same. Â
