I have not been to a place with such horrible service in a long time. Â From the time we walked in until we left. Â From the hostess, to the server and even the manager. Â This is a place we will never return too.
I wish we would have read all the other reviews before wasting our time and going. Â I agree with everyone else ~ service sucked and the food was just mediocre at best!
Went here after a scotch tasting at the Wine Chateau in Metuchen last Tuesday. Â I need to write a kick-ass review about that place. Â Anyways, Champps is your typical sports bar. Â All I was hoping for was a decent burger - and after ordering the Carolina Burger, I was satisfied. Â A burger with cheese, barbeque sauce, and fried onion strings, and being asked how you want it done, are always a hit with me. Â My buddy - who portrays himself as a 'fish and chips' connoisseur, liked the fish and chips from Champps. Â Decent beer selection, decent burger.... this place is a-ok with me.
Review Source:Good to watch the game and have a few cold ones. There are a ton of good places with better food inside a 10 min drive, so if you're looking for quality food skip this place. Last visit, asked the waitress to split the check woulda thought I was asking her to do advanced algebra. Also, took a good 25 min to go through the whole process of paying the bill but usually the service is better than that but still not incredible. Bottom line: Go for apps and beers at the bar not for great food or service.
Review Source:Went there on a Tuesday night to watch a game with a couple of friends--great place for that because the walls are plastered in TVs showing every game you'd ever want to see. They had a special where a pint of Yuengling was only $1.50, which was probably the best part of the night. As far as food goes, we got a giant plate of nachos, but the tortilla chips were too flimsy to even support a little bit of cheese.
Review Source:Stick to the bar because the dining staff is awful. I'm a bartender and used to serve and I couldn't have been more annoyed while I waited and waited for my server to stop by the table. She was only seen in the beginning to take our order and when she dropped off the check. The entrees were hard to eat as well.
The only positive experiences I have are when I sit at the bar where I get excellent service and stick to ordering only apps.
In my mind, this place is rather forgettable. I enjoyed a couple of burgers with my partner and we were served well. Still, it's a typical sports bar/chain restaurant - the food was not extraordinary, the place was littered with giant TV screens, and there were lots of tables scattered around.
I got the impression that it would have been more fun to arrive with a group interested in drinking and talking or watching a game than as a couple on a date night.
I was not a big fan of the food...
The place is a good setting for sports enthusiasts and large groups. It is not really a family friendly place. Â Champps has your basic food and the prices are kind of inflated for what it is.
I got a chicken quesadilla which was ok, nothing too special. Â I have definitely had better quesadillas. Â My friends got pasta and wraps, which were also only ok. Â There are definitely better places in the mall to eat.
So so food at high prices, I left the restaurant feeling unsatisfied... I will not be making a return visit...
I went to Champps with a group of 10, so I know the waitress was a bit stressed out by our group. Â She did a pretty good job of keeping up on our drinks though, and was very patient with the notoriously slow speed of "groupthink".
The Buffalo Charmark... err... Chicken? Â Sandwich was mediocre at best. Â It tasted more like burnt meat than anything else. Â The waffle fries were amazing to me, which means they're probably too salty for you. Â They did go right on the mini desserts though. Â Finally, a dessert that's an acceptable size for one person (but can be shared by 2... if you must....
I have to say though, I was distracted from the food by my Valentine. Â After being squashed, wiped up with a wet nap, and stuffed in a sugar packet, he and his 8 legs kept coming back for more. Â When I finally flicked him off my arm for the last time, and spent the rest of the evening with the creepy crawlies. Â
I guess I could go there again... if I had to.
This is a huge sports bar and grill attached to Menlo Park Mall. Â I've been here numerous times and have mostly always been very pleased. Â It's great to come with a group and order lots of appetizers and drinks - the potato skins and mozzarella sticks are always good bets. Â I once had the taco salad and didn't love it - I felt like the taste wouldn't come out of my mouth even after brushing - yuckkkk. Â Stick to the bar basics and it's great.
Review Source:Came here for a work function. It is a typical place with a huge menu and huge portions. Definitely, quantity over quality. I had a pulled pork sandwich. It was rather bland.
I tried a few of the appetizers. They were also run of the mill.
I guess if you have a big group of people and you want a bite to eat, a beer or two, and watch some sports, the place will do. But it is not a place that would make my list of places I would like to return to for an enjoyable meal.
generally don't love chain restaurants, but we arrived right before 8pm and everyone had a good experience! Â everyone had burgers, except for my fiance, who had steak, and I, who had potato soup (excellent) and boneless buffalo wings which were hot enough to satisfy. Â Also, Sam Adams Cherry Wheat was on tap, which is not often seen, so that was enjoyed as well.
Review Source:Not bad for a mall restaurant.
I had the bleu cheese burger. It was huge -- I wound up splitting it up over two meals. It looked nice, but didn't taste great. The cheese is bleu and cheddar, and along with the fat from the burger and the mayo on the bun, it was a little too rich for me. I wound up scraping off a lot of it.
They claim to use USDA Choice Angus Beef, but I'd liken the mouth feel most to burgers I've had at Friendly's. A little too consistent and mushy. I'd suggest going a little further afield and visiting a real NJ diner, rather than a chain.
If it was on food alone, I'd probably give this place a 2. But the atmosphere's not too bad, and the service deserves props, especially the corporate office, which was prompt to respond to an e-mail I sent them.
hmm nachos! huge and cheesy! yay I love it! Â There drinks aren't too bad there either. Â Wednesday they have karaoke and people can actually sing. Â It's a little shocking. Â There food in general is not bad, but I never crave anything besides their nachos. Â I can eat the nachos for dinner...
Review Source:Hi. My bf and I LOVE Chammps in Menlo Park. They have a disturbing Bleu Cheese Burger that is amazing!! However, after checking on their site for the Nutritional Info, we cannot go back there in good faith. I ordered an Americana Salad with Chicken, and it was over 1100 calories and 65 grams of fat!! WTF? Its a SALAD. With chicken, lettuce, cranberries, pecans, and a vinegrette. NOTHING interesting or creamy, like a Caeser or whatever!! Then I checked the info for the bleu cheeseburger- and it was worse! Over 1400 calories and 95, yes Ninety Five grams of fat!!! WTF! And why is the info on the salad SO SIMILIAR to the burger!!!! I figured I d be doing the right thing ordering the salad, but damn!!! LOL! So now its off our radar. Thank God Ichiumi sushi buffet just opened in Menlo!!! We wont be back @ Chammps!

Great place to catch a game. Awesome bartenders, die hard fans who root for their teams but mediocre food. I go every weekend to watch the games and it's always a good time. Important events like local playoff action causes this place to get very crowded so pick a spot and expect to stay there for the entire game (minus bathroom breaks). It would get 5 stars however the food is not quite bar food. The wings are not good. Also, they lack quality beer specials (the beers are over priced and I am a little slighted that they removed my favorite--Magic Hat #9). Wed night is karoke night. So be ready to cover your ears on terrible wanna be American Idol contestants. Later in the week, the late night crowd is mostly college. The only advantage is it brings out the hotties (although I am too old for them but I can still look). A much better altenative than the sh*t hole Fox and Hound which is a stones throw away.
Review Source:Champps (with two p's) is a nationwide chain with locations in about 20+ states, two of which are in  NJ - Edison (up north at Menlo Park Mall) and Marlton (down south where Rts. 70 and 72 meet up).  I've been to both locations and pretty much experienced the same things - expect the clientele (of course), as North and South Jersey are two different worlds.  Really.
Anyway, this place is first and foremost a sports bar. Â Big plasma TV's are hung on every wall so that every table has a good view of the game. Â In Marlton, you're dealing with Philly fans (ugh) and up at Menlo Park you're enjoying the game with NY fans. Drink wise, they're bound to have what you're looking for with the exeption of microbrews. Food wise, the menu is larg, but don't expect to find anything inventive or organic, as it is still a corporate chain. Â
So to sum it up, Champps offers cold drinks, corporate food, and good views of the game.
The humanity! Â The horror! Â The after work happy hour in Jersey.
I typically avoid restaurants and bars in shopping malls because......they are restaurants and bars in shopping malls. Â But we had a farewell get together here for some colleagues so I went along.
I sat down at our table and saw the little loose leaf binder (bad sign number 1) of drinks. Â There is a page of martinis like the martinis that these places have, so I figure it is safe to order a real martini. Â I go up to the bar and after a minute or two the bartender takes my order. Â She goes back to making drinks when I see her making a mojito. Â She made the mojito by adding a package of sugar to some mint, ice, and rum and then shaking it in a shaker and topping it off with club soda. Â Not the way I've seen a mojito made, not even in the Bacardi commercials (bad sign number 2). Â So she makes my martini, brings it to me and says "there is some ice floating in it" (bad sing number 3). Â So I flick 3 ice cubes out of my drink. Â Please, if you are going to advertise cocktails, just make them correctly and don't tell me that you know there is something wrong when you bring me my drink. Â Maybe I'm a snob, but it doesn't sound like too much to ask. Â I'm perfectly happy with a shot and a beer place, but don't put a cocktail menu in front of me if you can't make cocktails.
The food was standard fried stuff (calamari, cheese sticks, chicken parts). Â The chicken satay was the best and was probably the only thing not fried.
One star for having its head up its ass.
