I have severely mixed feelings on this place. Sometimes I love it and would give it 5 stars, and other times I leave this place enraged. Last year I went 3 times and 2 out of those 3 times I had such bad experiences that I got right on Yelp to write a review and of course, their business wasn't on here. SO, keeping those resentful feelings in mind, I probably would have given them 1 star after leaving those 2 times, but the other experiences I have had here make up for it. Here is what I can tell you as an overall feeling of the place:

Awesome bar, if you can get a seat. Bartenders and friendly and they learn your name quickly if they see you a few times. My parents frequent the bar a lot with their friends to eat/drink and I go with them sometimes, or go for late night drinks with my friends.

On the other hand, service in their dining room is absolutely atrocious. That is what was so terrible the two bad experiences I had last summer. Don't even want to get into either story because I would write a book. But the summer with crowds plus some of the dumbest/slowest/most inattentive teenagers around, equals a disaster for service. Don't expect much in that category.

However, most of their food is pretty good. I like the general atmosphere of the place, being a "beach bar" they have a nice outdoor patio and the entire dining room is surrounded by windows so there is always a cool breeze coming off the ocean, even during hot summer nights. My favorite is their stuffed quahogs and boneless teriyaki wings. Salads with steak tips are also good. Have heard their steamers and lobster aren't great and usually come out sandy and/or cold, so if you are looking for shellfish I would try somewhere else. But they do have something on their menu for everyone, so it is a good family spot, if you don't mind the crowds.

Prices are reasonable, except for the drink prices which are out of this world expensive. I love this place, but with the few absolutely terrible experiences I have had here with service it makes me hesitant to give it more than 3 stars.

This place was re-named Chapin's Fish and Chips years ago.  Two words: Steak Tips.  I dream about them literally ALL WINTER.  You can add them onto any meal, get them as a meal, or put them on a salad.  All are good options.

My family is also big on the boneless buffalo wings and boneless teriyaki wings, which are great for sharing.

They have live music most nights and the restaurant can be a pretty raucous party post-10pm.  The bartenders are great.  Highly recommend.

I never write reviews but I felt compelled sign up and create an account just to say how much i love this place. I'm not sure what the other people are talking about; be aware in season you will wait on average 45 minutes for a table on the weekend, but the bar has awesome drinks (try the blended cape coder) and if you have kids there is a fenced in yard where they can run while they wait, not to mention the crayons and fish tattoos.  We have been going to Clancy's since it opened! We have brought every guest that visit-most extremely picky New Yorkers.  Even hosted my part of my sister wedding weekend there.  I love the food, strongly recommend the cesar salad with scallops. The lobster roll is the best on the cape (served in a baguette not a hot dog roll)! The stuff quahog is traditional new England food at its best.  And most importantly the chowder past the ultimate chowder test- the spoons stands up!

Just back from perhaps the worst meal of the year. Arrived at 1 and had a great waitress, Diana. My teen ordered fish cakes, Mom chowder, me chowder and boneless buffalo wings. Just had amazing buffalo wings in Anguilla at Ferry Boat Inn so was craving..

Service was good. Food was beyond bad. The fries were the only edible food. The chowder was so thick it was like paste BUT it did taste pretty good. The fish cakes were horrendous. Thanks to the manager who credited our bill for the 9.99.

    Never ever again..sorry

We recently went to Clancy's and thought the food was excellent...but we were disappointed that they were out of lobster pie two days in a row.  I had the caesar with scallops and the portion was very generous- everyone at our table was happy with their meals.  I have never had a bad Clancy's experience, at either location.

A group of 6 of us went here last week for dinner.  The server was a sweetheart...  The food was awful.  3 clam strip plates and 2 whole belly clam plates and a hot lobster roll...  The only good thing was the hot lobster roll...  One bite of the clams and we all looked at each other and said, this isn't like the clams at our favorite place.  They were tasteless and overcooked...  What a waste of money and food.  I actually asked the waitress to please remove my plate before I finished.  Again, she had no idea why.  Why eat the calories if the food sucks...

I went here with a group of 6.  Great food that is very reasonably priced and we got an outdoor seat on a busy Friday night in 15 minutes.  I got the Cobb salad, and I can't really recommend it since it wasn't that great.  Some crappy lettuce, tomatoes and onions, a good amount of grilled chicken, one very tiny lobster claw and one small shrimp.  When they said it came with "shrimp and lobster" I was expecting a heartier portion of each.

Everyone else's food looked great, especially the ginormous lobster rolls (which they offer both hot and traditional).  The bar is pretty bumpin' although very small and they have a decent beer selection.

I loved this experience and will be back if I'm staying close to Clancy's again.

Casual (step up from a beach shack), beachy atmosphere.  Lot's of room to eat outside on the front patio.

As the place is called Clancy's fish and chips I felt it was imperative to try the fish and chips.  A big tasty piece of fish.  Came out very hot. Standard batter.  I would order again.  Fries were so-so pretty much your average french fry.

The menu had lot's of options for fried seafood but a more limited selection of grilled or broiled seafood. A bit disappointing as I'm trying to eat healthier.

An affordable fun place for lunch.

Upper County's scrappy little brother, seasonal only, more of a bar/clam shack atmosphere. All paper and plastic and a much younger crowd than the other Clancy's. I had the beer batter fish and chips yesterday and it was excellent. A huge piece, nice and crunchy, fries, slaw for $7.99! It was a lunch special and it was special!  If you were staying at the beach here, this would be a regular hangout. It was dead yesterday at midday but I can picture it packed in full season.

I went to Clancy's thinking it wouldn't be as good as the Clancy's on Upper County Road but it was. The front of the restaurant has a large grass area where people can wait, drink beer, and order some quick seafood. Yes there are a good amount of kids, but this really didn't bother me. I just kept moving around.

I had the cape caughter which tasted great and my girlfriend had the chicken saute which she said wasn't all that special. The clam chowder, however, easy easily 5 stars.

Front area near bar some loud music that started at about 7:00 but wasn't too loud.

I sort of love this place. I have been many times and always have a good experience. This past weekend was no different. I was there with 3 other people around 7:00. A friend went a half hour early to get us a table, so when we got there we had a table already.

Our waitress was nice and came over right away. She did however make a strange comment of "excuse my height"...weird right? She was tall, but so am I and I would never say anything about it...ok whatever. We ordered a few drinks, I had the cranberry margarita, my friend had the bahama mama, one had the electric leomande and the other a heieken (beware...wine is $9 a class! You could go down the street to the liqour store and buy the bottle for that price). All of our drinks were pretty good and served in 16oz plastic cups...so for $6.99 each, thats a good deal in my book.

For dinner we were all craving fish and chips. 2 ordered that, I had the clam strip dinner and the other had the lobster pie. The food came out in about 10 minutes, we were surprised bc the place was packed! The food was awesome! The portions were huge and the tartar sauce was out of this world...I mean A-MAZING! No one finished their whole meal and we had lots of left overs. The total for the bill was $89.97 before tip...so a little pricey for friend food, but not terrible.

On a side note: I went here 2 years ago with a now ex-boyfriend. This should have been a terible experience, but they made it all better. We got there around 7:00...so it was super busy. They told us a 20 minute wait so we went to the bar and got a drink. 45 minutes later we were still not sat. It was fine, we were both waiters at the time and understand. So he went up and checked. They had completely forgotten about us! So they sat us right away and got us a round of beers for free. Our waitress came over right away and we ordered some apps and our entrees. The apps came out quick, and we were starving so we scarfed them down. Now the really bad part.....an HOUR later our meal had yet to come out. Our waitress came by to see if we enjoyed our meal and we told her it never came. Her face dropped and she ran over to the kitchen. Turns out the order slip had fallen and no one had seen it. A manager came right over and apologized and said the our entire bill was on them. They then sent us over 2 more rounds of drinks. Our food came, and it was great. After the meal the manager came over 1 more time and gave us a $25 gift certificate! I thought that was really great service.

The moral of the story...this place is good and likes to tkae care of their patrons!

Great casual family dining, consistently friendly summer wait staff.  Clearly known for their fish n chips, their menu covers a wide range of seafood, but also has decent burgers, salads, sandwiches, and boneless chicken wings.  Large bar in the front.

I came here last year for the first time and ordered the Cobb salad.  There was lobster and shrimp in it, that was a very nice addition.  There was a huge chunk of blue cheese on the top as well, however, it was just a little too much, even for a cheese-aholic like me.  I should have only used half of it.  Our waitress was great because even though there was a whole field trip of kids having lunch we still got great service and when my friend got excited when she saw the kids eating "hoodsies" and asked for one, she went to the back to get us one each too.  Very cool.

I made a return visit this year the weekend before Memorial day for lunch.  The restaurant was completely empty so the three of us sat at the bar and ordered food.  The clam chowder was excellent and a perfect choice for a rainy day.  I wish I got a whole bowl.  Instead, I got just a cup of chowder and a buffalo chicken wrap.  The buffalo had just a piece of lettuce and all chicken, it was good but it didn't come with blue cheese and had to ask for it separately.

This is a great place for lunch and casual dinner - sandwiches, salads, and apps.  Don't be expecting a prime rib dinner or anything.  We also made a couple of stops here for drinks later in the night.  Not a bad place to play a few songs on the jukebox and grab a beer or two or three...

Good for take out, but very loud inside and the patio and grassy area were a playground for all the kids waiting for seating. Not for those wanting a quick, relaxing meal. Try the other Clancy's if you want more of a peaceful dining experience.
