Wife likes the place, I was ambivalent after our last visit but it was close and convenient so we went and  couple of things happened that culminated, with one minor setback, into a decent dining experience.
We seated ourselves near the bar because there was a intense boxing match in progress involving female pugilists that rivaled any match I've ever witnessed, plus, on a nearby screen was Sportscenter, with analysts critiquing Tiger's game.
The bartender noticed us immediately and came over with menus and queries about drinks. The whole operation went off without a hitch, even with the numerous questions Wifey asks to get the perfect meal.
Salad bar critiqued and approved by Wifey, utensils clean, foods fresh and abundant, no flies hovering about. Wifey was happy with the salad bar and only wanted a baked potato to complete her meal. My meal consisted of a queen cut prime rib that was cooked precisely as ordered and very tasty. The accompanying veggies were fresh and delicious. Â
The biggest drawback was the baked potatoes we ordered. The establishment obviously bakes them ahead of time and microwaves them as needed. What we got were puckered potatoes with the flesh near the skin being dry and uneatable.
Overall we got great wait service and great food, aside from the two jacked up potatoes. I really feel they would have honored our request for substitutions if we pressed but they had already honored an expired $10 off coupon at the start of the meal so we didn't force the issue.
Charlie Brown's, this location and also the now closed location in Highland Park, used to be among my favorite places to go for a nice meal. Â We dined at this location, Edison, this past Saturday. Â The salad bar was great as it has been for 20 plus years. Â Only the sliced red onions were not up to par. Â It was the entrees that I think fell short versus how they were in the pre lets close a bunch of locations days. Â I got the stuffed flounder, it was a very small portion, very little fish, surrounding a plain stuffing. Â In the old days, this was a great dish with a nice piece of fish. Â Prices seemed high versus the value received.
Review Source:Been coming here for about 20 years now. Excellent food and salad bar! Â We usually sit at a bar table.
The only problem I've encountered is the wait staff. Sometimes  you will get excellent service, and other times you can wait what seems like forever to get your order taken and get your food, even if it's not very busy. And if you pay with cash, check your change because it might be incorrect.
The salad bar is a great option for lunch. Â It has just about everything except shrimp which is fine by me since most salad bar shrimp is not worth the effort. Â It has just about everything on it. Â For another dollar, you can also get a soup or chili with your salad bar. Â We ordered a pitcher of sangria but it was sparse on both the fruit and the alcohol. Â Our server was terrific.
I've had dinner here a few times too. Â In my opinion, It's more in the 3 star range for it's entrees. Â But, for lunch, it is a recommended stop.
CB attracts me like a moth to light!! Â I am a MOTH!!! Â Voted NJ's best Salad Bar how can I resist. Â For $8.99 all you can eat salad is the bomb-dig-itty...
Unlike the CB's by me this location offers out door seating and there lounge is much cooler too
Another amazing thing I noticed at this CB's is they have a Happy Hour and Daily Specials. Â We went on a Wed which makes it Wings Wednesday for $6 you get a pound of wings and for $10 you get 2 lbs. Â While I have never weighed wings when I received them I can not say if this is a good deal.
Happy Hour is from 3-6pm and then from 9pm-close, lucky for us we got there at 20 to 3pm and took advantage of the $4 Sauza Blue Margaritas. Â While I dont recommend drinking a Marg and eating a salad both were delicious.
The salad bar is still the highlight of a visit to this restaurant. The only thing that I would eat in addition to the salad is the burger or the prime rib. Anything beyond that is hit or miss, usually a miss. My favorite steak is filet mignon, but I've never liked it here. Every few years, I say, what the heck, I'll try it again to see if it's improved. And the answer is always no, so I go back to the burger or prime rib.
The prices have really skyrocketed over the past couple of years, to the point that they are way overpriced considering the quality of food that they serve. Even a burger and salad bar combo, which used to be reasonably priced is just too expensive. I used to come here regularly for the burger/salad, but at current prices, not any more.
Another downer is that if you are under 65 years old, you really seem out of place here.
This place is ok if you don't like your steak with a lot of spices.I usually get the 7oz filet with a baked potato with butter but i usually find me asking for A1 steak sauce cus my steak is bland but A1 on on baked potato is awesome btw.The thing that annoys me is there forever pushing the handshake club card especially the hostess named candy (no I'm not joking she's old so don't think its a bubbly blond who's well endowed) to the point I can recite the script in my sleep besides that its an ok place till someone can open something better
Review Source:Go here with the family about every other month. Nothing really to write home about, just okay.
Salad bar is good and the prime rib is okay, although there were a couple of times when my medium well came out well done instead. The Salmon Plank is decent as well.
If you end up going during peak times, expect the service to be slow.
