I had my first dining experience on the first day of Green Bay Restaurant Week.  The beginning was irritating.  I walked to the hostess's stand, and she said, "Do you need any help with anything?"

Perhaps she thought I was looking for a pedicure, but I think she may have been a bit daft.

I had reservations, and was seated, but waited nearly 10 minutes before receiving any attention from our waitress.  However, when Abby, my waitress, did arrive, she did a fine job.  She was friendly and attentive, and hopefully represents Chefusion's standard of service better than the hostess did.

For an appetizer, I had a watermelon and tomato salad with feta, almonds, and olive oil.  It was refreshing and attractively presented.  My main course was a braised veal short-rib.  It was heavy, rich, and didn't really fit the season, but it was cooked nicely and flavorful.

My primary culinary complaint relates to the lobster bisque my dining companion ordered as an appetizer.  There was a skin over the surface, like you might expect with chocolate pudding from an elementary school cafeteria.  This was nearly as unappetizing as the watery broth and the insanely overcooked lobster in the soup.  It really shouldn't have been served.

Despite some rough spots, there were highlights to my meal that I felt made Chefusion worthy of a revisit.  The menu is quite diverse, and offers numerous dishes that sound to be worth trying.  However, if Chefusion seeks to be a great restaurant, I hope they execute their menu better than they did for my first experience.

Really not a bad place overall, just a couple things that could have gone differently to boost this up to a 4 start review. The food was good overall. Nothing too inventive or creative, but the steak and lobster combo were cooked very nicely. The pre-meal carpaccio was billed as "New York" carpaccio but was just too fatty and lacked most of the other accompaniments one would expect.

The service was good, but disjointed. There were times when some plates could have been cleared sooner and the oils that went with the bread for the second half of the table weren't provided until the bread was already gone. Which was disapointing considering the taste I had was really good. Just a timing issue really. Also they only have room to accommodate one table of 4+ and due to spacing this happens to be directly in line with the door. Everytime the door opened, which was quite frequently since the upstairs seemed to be the joint, the table was blasted with Wisconsin winter weather.

Not a bad place, but I would have liked a bit more from the menu, and a bit less from the outdoors. I'll check out the upstairs next time and skip dinner.

I just ate at Chefusion for the first time recently, and it was a very pleasant surprise.  We went to happy hour on Tuesday, and were pleased to discover some Tuesday night specials that weren't advertised.  We got $2 off cocktails and small plates, and the plates were anything but small.  I ordered a filet mignon crostini expecting a few  toast rounds with some shaved steak on top, but instead got two 2-oz, perfectly cooked mini filets on a herb-crusted toast with had absorbed a lot of the beautiful jus.  On one side was a salad of spring greens sprinkled with balsamic, and on the other, a healthy pile of onion straws. Unfortunately, thinking I was getting a small plate, I also had ordered Mac and cheese, which turned out to be exquisitely prepared with tomatoes, spinach and Nueske's bacon.  I saved most of that for the next day.  These two plates and four cocktails (I bought a round) came to a grand total of $38.  What a deal!

I came here for the evening based on Yelp ratings and found the place to be greatly overrated. The atmosphere was nice and the upstairs lounge was the perfect place for a casual dinner. The menu revolves around a number of small plate items. The menu description appeared a little difficult to execute for the kitchen during my visit. The mac & cheese featuring Nueske's bacon featured very little bacon, the ultimate crab cake featured very little crab, and the tempura lobster roll featured very little lobster. Keep in mind these are $9, $12 and $13 orders, respectively. C'mon Chefusion give up the goods! I sat at the bar and the bartender provided great service, she performed well and provided a great accompaniment to an otherwise unremarkable meal. Notably, the owner of the restaurant was seated at the bar. She was served a drink and order of parmesan fries shortly after being seated. I found this amusing (not!) as I had been waiting almost 30 minutes for the same order of fries when hers appeared. She also spent a great deal of her time engaging what appeared to be the only waitress in the lounge in a lengthy conversation; a conversation so lengthy that a party seated, and apparently being served (?) by the waitress, angrily came to the bar to settle their bill before storming out. Better service and food are available elsewhere nearby. Get a clue Chefusion, if one wants mediocre food and marginal service there are a number of chains providing it at a fraction of the cost.

The lounge is great; they've got beers on tap that are quite rarely seen in other establishments, and they've got quite a menu for their "casual" upstairs area. I ordered a 6 oz. Kobe beef burger with asiago cheese. The portion size was perfect. The flavor was perfect, and it was cooked perfectly. It was even served on a fantastic housemade bun. I wish I'd gotten around to visiting this place much sooner.

If I had one word of advice it would be to come here during happy hour and go upstairs to the lounge.  The small plates menu (small is relative because they seem to fill me up no problem) runs at half price until 6 as well as the drinks being on discount.  The food is good (not excellent) but when you can get out of there for about 25 dollars a person including 2 very nice import drafts then I call it a win in my book.  If I can recommend one thing that I have had it would be the oysters on the half shell.  Chefusion fly's them in so they are as fresh as you can get in the landlocked (from the sea anyways)  are of the midwest at a decent price ($12 for a half dozen) and they are excellent; the truffle fries are also delicious.

This is one of my favorite places in Green Bay, and I usually try to visit all places at least once.  Especially like any place that offers live music AND great food, and this place has both.  My wife and I have only been in the upstairs lounge, so that's all I can speak to.  Outstanding "small plates" that aren't really that small.  We usually order 3 and share them and its usually more than enough for both of us!  Can't say enough about this place... the atmosphere, live music, food, service, everything is top notch!

This is a great place to go on a date.  It's a gastropub.  They have some sweet music upstairs in the lounge and it's a wonderful hangout with drinks.  I personally enjoy and recommend  the Dark & Stormy.  It's a great setting and a fun hangout.  The mussels in the lounge upstairs are so good.  I agree with the reviewer about the balsamic, it's  crazy good.  The cheese and charcuterie plate has a terribly lame offering of cheese, though. Do not bother with that.  I think the regular entree offerings are pretty good, they're making somewhat of an effort but not too ambitious.  The bar area looks cool, but the drink menu is lots of vodka-based drinks that end in "tini."  So not too tasteful, but trying to have some fun.

My girlfriends and I took a long weekend up to Green Bay to do bridesmaid shopping/bonding, and we were brought here by one of the natives :)

3 of us ordered off the menu (Halibut, Grouper and Salmon, respectively), and the 4th enjoyed soup.  Her mentality?  If you can't do something simple well, then how will anything else compare?  (she is a former chef and self-anointed foodie).
Regardless of what everyone ordered, we were all in food heaven.  The fish was perfectly cooked, the fresh veggies were delicious, and the balsamic vinegar for the bread was DIVINE.  I had the opportunity to taste a little of everyone's plates, and every last bit was tasty.

On top of it, the ambiance was great.  Upstairs there was live music, which added a whole new level to our dining.   To be honest, I wasn't expecting much.  A big city girl can get spoiled with all the high quality restaurants in Chicago, but Green Bay did well with this one!
