The veggie burger there is better than many hamburgers I have eaten. The fruit salad was a mix of canned and fresh so it was just okay. The cookies are delicious and the decor is nice. The waitress was really helpful and full of recommendations since it was our first time. They also have a couple tables outside for dining which looked really nice but since it was raining we didn't get to try it out.
Review Source:Every time I'm in Beavercreek I like to fit in a visit to the Cherry House! The basket meal is the way to go since it comes with a side and a cookie! The broccoli salad is the obvious way to go on the side choices. HOWEVER, there is no wrong choice on the cookies.
Here's a hint for the vegetarian only folks: they will sub a veggie burger in for ANY of their burgers and they are all yummy!
New favorite lunch or light dinner stop! Everything I have tried so far has been delicious and good portion sizes for the price. Fairly quick service, I tend to call ahead though so it is waiting for me. All the desserts are amazing! Also for those who don't want to call or get out of your car  there is a drive through window.
Review Source:Oh my goodness, this review is long overdue! We ate here last November, last year! Shhh! This is mid-March for crying out loud! Honestly I've been putting it off on that account and vowing to return for round two so I can write a proper review with everything fresh in my mind with photos to boot, but so far we've been super busy and in different areas of town exploring. Since it has been so long, I'll tell you the things I cannot possibly forget!
The homemade goodness this place exudes is amazing! It's absolutely effervescent and uplifting, comfort food at it's finest! Welcome to the Grandma's kitchen you never had! if you had her, then welcome to her twin sister's kitchen! Their food is completely from scratch blow your mind fantastical. Their menu has something for everyone; it's one of those places that looks like a dive but leaves you dying for more and unfazed by the space it occupies! They have fun specials, sometimes seasonal, and even sometimes hidden and you have to ask! That was the case with their winter menu's "Peppermint Hot Cocoa" I found out about when I asked if they had cocoa since at the moment I hadn't seen it on the menu. It was a hidden special.
I ended up having their then-special, the French Dip Sliders. They were every bit as ethereal as I imagine in my dreams! The buns, tiny and tender, were like little clouds upon which delicate succulent slices of perfectly cooked beef lay down for a winter's nap after an au jus soak a-plenty. My gosh, were these tasty! Seriously folks, I am writing this in March and that was November. Do you remember what you had to eat like this last November, last year? Exactly. If you do, I want to know where you had it also because it must have been GOOD! So, that's what I had. It knocked my socks off. I hope they serve it in Heaven. I also had some pumpkin pie, delicious with a huge fluffy dollop of homemade looking cream and a tender delicious crust. I am a baker myself, I consider myself as having been around the block or two in the baking world, and let me say, whoever made those pies is competent. I had the hardest time deciding what to have for dessert actually! It came with my special too, as a package, for an insanely reasonable price.
Their restaurant is kind of like dining in a homey dive with a view of Willy Wonka's candy garden room (that bakery case, ohhh!) just beckoning at you to dive in and eat the teacup flowers and taste the snauzberries! What an absolute catch this place is! May they never change, and be around forever! I look forward to writing them a proper review as soon as I possibly can. Cherry House Café, I heart you!
Thought there would be cherries on everything... happy there wasn't!
OVERALL: Â Great cafe! Â It definitely embodies the atmosphere of a ma and pop kinda place. Â The service from the girls were great and the food was good. Â I would have gave it 4 stars, but see below.
FOOD:  Definitely some pluses in this category...except the roast beef held it to 3 stars!  The fresh made chips are a definite 5 star! A little salty, but maybe we can work on  that.  The potato salad was a unique and multi-layered explosion of flavors I have never had in a potato salad.  The chicken salad croissant was a winner! Soft and fluffy goodness delivering a chicken salad that was just the right balance of ingredients.  As for the cookies, another plus for you!  Buy a better roast beef and this is a 4 star!
SERVICE: Â Everything was great. Â No complaints
ATMOSPHERE: Â Cute and simple. Â Tempting to look at the display case of cookies!
PRICE: Â On target! Â Look for the coupons in the ads!
I was promised, by my friend, the best breakfast sandwich of my life. She was right. That was soooo good and so reasonable (cost wise).
I cannot give them 5 stars, though because they really over use Styrofoam. Â The pie pieces in the case were on Styrofoam and I was given a huge to go container for 1 sandwich that could have just been wrapped in paper. If they made some environmental and decor changes, it could be a perfect place.
Wow! Â This was a big disappointment. Â I arrived on a Saturday morning around 10 a.m. for breakfast. Â I was looking for a muffin and they had only one flavor that didn't interest me. So I ordered the house omelet, toast and coffee. Â The house omelet has ham, bacon and cheese with a house dressing. Â The presentation was awful. Â The omelet was overcooked and looked like someone ran over it with their car. Â The dressing looked like italian, however it had a sweeter taste. Â It was cold along with the toast. Â I spread butter on the toast and it didn't melt. Â The coffee was just average - nothing special. Â The interior of the cafe looks like they raided a couple of grandmother's homes to find furnishings and other decor. Â It was not clean. Â The table that was available was not wiped off. Â The window sill was dusty. The window and seats had splatters. Â The silverware looked like it was on the road when they ran over the omelet. Â When you check out, don't take a gander in the kitchen which is visible from the register if you want to retain your breakfast. Â Contrary to other reviews the service was not bad except for the cold delivery of the food. Â The place is run by a bunch of kids without supervision. Â Would not recommend.
Review Source:Breakfast ends at 11:00. Â I was very upset when I arrived at 11:06 with a big breakfast appetite. Â Ordered the pot pie soup and a coffee. Â They have normal diner coffee, nothing you'd want if you buy and consume large quantities of great coffee, but it's what I expected. Â The pot pie soup was very hearty and quite excellent, they make it in house. Â If I lived in the area, I'd stop in just for that. Â Oh, and btw, a bowl is only 2.95. Â With the low pricing and very tasty food, I can look past whatever I didn't love about the place.
Review Source:We met some friends at the Cherry House Cafe this past Sunday for brunch. I was able to call ahead and reserve a spot for 9 people about an hour or so before the time we wanted so that was a plus. The service was just ok. The waiters barely were present and were not that great at their job.
I ordered one of the breakfast combos that came with eggs and biscuits and gravy. The eggs were really over down and unbearable to eat. The biscuits and gravy were delicious though. That is the reason this place got three stars from me.
This is not a place I would probably come back to again unless someone else wanted to go as there are some other places that offer better food and service.
Whenever possible we try to eat at independent restaurants so we were extremely pleased to recently find the Cherry House Cafe. Service was good, the food excellent (although they were out of my 1st choice on the menu) and the value versus the cost is good. Â Our first visit was for dinner but we intend to try breakfast at some point..
Review Source:If today had been my first visit to Cherry House Cafe', it surely would have been my last. Â Luckily, I know that they are capable of much better, so I'll give them another chance after today's meal.
I ordered the Sampler--choosing Three-Cheese-Sun-Dried-Tomato Quiche, fresh fruit and their "world famous" broccoli-cherry-nut salad.  The first thing I noticed was that the dried cherries had been replaced by raisins.  hmmm...kind of strange for a recipe that has cherries in the name.  I get this salad every time I go, so I know what to expect: it has a mayonaisse-based dressing that is sweetened with sugar.  Imagine my surprise when I took a bite and discovered someone had mistaken salt for sugar!  It was like taking a bite of pure salt.  :-(  I explained to the waiter, sent the salad back and got a croissant in it's place.
Obviously, mistakes happen.  My remaining meal was just ok.  The quiche was oddly seasoned and seemed to have been reheated in a microwave; it was dried out and hard along the edges.  The croissant was slightly stale.  I will say, the fresh fruit was very good, extremely fresh and contained lots of different types of fruit.
All in all, my meal was just plain bad.  I guess this goes show that every place can have a down day.  If you are reading this review, be sure to read my earlier one which is very positive.  I've been to Cherry House at least half a dozen times and this is the first bad experience I've had.
I love going to independent, locally owned restaurants.  And with the help of Yelp, I found The Cherry House Cafe, which is not too far from my own  back yard.  I never knew of it's existence until I joined Yelp! What a treat it was to find this restaurant.
It's a charming little place, perfect for Ladies lunches and gatherings. They have a private party room called either the Hen's Nest or the Hen's House.. perfect for gatherings and meetings. Â
I don't want to mislead  male readers! There were plenty of men dining there as well, so do not be afraid to go! You'll like it!
I had the Cherry Apricot Chicken Salad sandwich, which was served on a croissant. Â My husband had a Reuben. Â We both had the house chips and diet sodas. Â I skipped the cookies, but after hearing other people talk about them, I wish I hadn't. Â
The Reuben was toasted and not grilled, which I think is preferable for a Reuben. Â Yet it was still very good, and the Cherry Apricot Croissant was delicious as promised by other Yelp reviewers.
Their breakfast looks delicious as well, and we'll go another. time to check those out
I've recently been on a food rut lately and have not been craving any of the usual restaurant options that I frequent. Therefore, Yelp to the rescue! I've been reading all of these great things about Cherry House Cafe and was in the area this past Sunday and had to stop in for a quick lunch.
I really didn't peruse through the menu that much since EVERY SINGLE yelp review talked about the Cherry Apricot Chicken Salad Croissant and the Broccoli Cherry Nut Salad as the two items to try, but the thing that I noticed was how affordable the price points were. Before I go on, definitely upgrade your meal from just the cold sandwich to the value meal, it's only a dollar extra and you get the side salad and a cookie to boot. Definitely a 'value' meal.
My order came out very quickly and my first impression was that the portions were quite generous. The sandwich was delicious and the croissant had the perfect amount of butter and sweetness to it. The Broccoli Cherry Nut Salad was also very very good.......at first. I then started to notice how insanely sweet it was. I'm going to give it the benefit of the doubt since every other Yelp reviewer loves it so much, but I could almost taste and feel all the little grains of sugar in it and I'm usually not one to complain about something being too sweet. I'm going to have to try it again sometime because they do sell the salads by the pound and it would be great for a quick lunch at home.
Overall I think the Cherry House Cafe is wonderful and a much (much!) better lunch option than say Panera. The food tastes wonderful, the ingredients are fresher, and the price is so affordable. You definitely can't go anywhere else to get a quick, delicious meal for that kind of price. I will be back! If only I worked just a little closer ;)
Girlfriends and I decided we're in a rut, and are going to broaden our horizons (and maybe widen our waistlines). Today we searched Yelp and decided to try Cherry House Cafe.
Reviewers are right - this place is great. We had the Cherry Apricot Chicken Salad on a croissant, Broccoli Cherry Nut Salad, and the house cookie (coconut, pecans and chocolate chunks). Everytime I bit into the Apricot I wanted to do the happy dance. In fact, everything was wonderful, and so big we couldn't finish. Most of my cookie is in my purse as I write this, and I'm really looking forward to finishing it later this afternoon.
This is a quaint little place that's almost in a residential neighborhood. It has a real Mom and Pop feel, and I consider this "comfort food." It left us happy.
The selection here includes breakfast, hot and cold sandwiches, burgers and pasta's. They have daily specials that cover the spectrum in chicken salads: curry, blueberry, pecan. Besides Chili and Chicken Pot Pie soup everday, there's a soup special. Today they also had Seafood Quich, which was a generous portion and looked good. There's a bakery case with OMG desserts. And they sell their salads by the pound @$9.99. I know that because we wanted to take that Brocolli salad home...yes, it was that good.
The cost for this feast was under $10. You can't get the combo meal at Subway for that. So our return factor....100 percent. Oh yes, we'll be back. But first we're already working our on next big adventure.
My wife is addicted to this place. I've accompanied her a few times for lunch and my experience has always been good. I like supporting locally owned and operated businesses and places like this who offer such a great product make it easy.
The chicken salad and cheese steak sandwiches are the standouts for me. Also the home made potato chips are great.
I was excited to see this place is doing so well since I enjoy supporting local restaurants, but I just wished I enjoyed their food as much as everyone else. Â Don't get me wrong, I think their desserts are awesome, especially their cookies and believe me, I am a big time critic of desserts. Â However, if you do not have a sweet tooth then the desserts may be too much for you.
Unfortunately, I was not a fan of my entree. Â Although it tasted okay, it was absolutely not what I expected. Â I ordered off the daily specials and got the cabbage rolls. Â I am used to the traditional cabbage rolls, Hungarian style, but what I received was definitely not that. Â The dish was more like Italian Pork Parmesan in Cabbage, if that makes sense. Â Yes, the meat had rice in it, but it tasted like an Italian meatball in a piece of cabbage. Â The cabbage...well, I could not even tell it was there because it was covered in marinara sauce and topped with mozzarella cheese. Â I probably would not have ordered the dish if it had been listed as Italian Cabbage Rolls instead of just Cabbage Rolls. Â My husband ordered off the Specials too and got the Blueberry Walnut Chicken Salad which he enjoyed and had a side of Broccoli Cherry Nut Salad. Â He liked the Broccoli salad at first, but the dressing became too much for him to handle. Â I tried it and I have to concur that it has way too much dressing in it and overwhelms the salad that the flavours of the other ingredients get lost and all you get is that coleslaw dressing taste after a while.
My daughter got the chicken tenders which came with a cup of fruit, chocolate milk, and a cookie. Â I love that the kid's meal comes with fresh fruit and not the canned variety. Â Of course, I was lucky enough to share my daughter's cookie, the Amber cookie with M&M's and peanut butter, and yes, it was delicious.
So, while not a fan of the entrees, I do recommend the desserts if you like sweet sweets.
Went during the week in the evening and were a few other people dining but by the amount of cars in the lot, I was expecting it to be packed.
I had the turkey club, pot pie soup and a brownie. Classic club done well. Soup was excellent. I am not that big of a brownie fan but my wife is but she didn't care that much for it. It wasn't horrible just not to her liking. Service was good, prompt refills.
Looking forward to come back to try some other things on the menu.
A friend and I stopped here for lunch today; quite busy, but seated immediately and orders taken quickly. Â My friend had the Vermont Cheddar burger and thoroughly enjoyed it; large and had fries as well. Â I had the Reuben, which was delicious. Â Bread was good and the corned beef very tasty. Â Â We shared a Heath chips cookie to top off the meal. Â A party room is available for large groups. Â My only complaint.....supply bigger napkins! Â The cocktail napkins provided just don't cut it.
Review Source:I wanted to like this place. Â In fact it was Yelp that helped me discover this local restaurant. Â Unfortunately our experience did not meet our expectations based on the other reviews. Â
Before we visited Cherry House Café, I looked up their website since I never heard of them.  Their website listed "gourmet burgers" which got me excited.  I am a big gourmet burger fan and regularly visit Terry's Turf Club in Cincinnati which I believe is the best in SW Ohio.  I specifically asked the server if they were hand packed burgers.  She assured me they were so I ordered the 3 cheese and bacon burger.  She didn't ask me how I would like them cooked and when I asked, she said medium-well is how they cook them.  This should have been a big red flag for me to order something else.  A restaurant that serves real gourmet burgers uses much higher quality meat.  Meat that you could order medium-rare if that is your desire.  The burgers at this place were cardboard tasting and they definitely were not hand packed.  Her response was a flat out lie.  You could tell the meat had come out of a box already in that shape and the taste reflected it. Â
This place appears to have good chicken salad. Â Do yourself a favor and stick with the chicken salad and avoid the burgers. Â The restaurant needs to remove "gourmet burgers" from their website. Â Hardees had more flavor.
On top of that, the service was terrible. Â It took seven minutes to take our order during a lunch break. Â The refills were slow and the table was never fully clean.
I won't be back.
This place is a little gem in a land that is overrun with mediocre lunch options. I have only been there once but 1 time experience was so excellent that I know I will be back often to try out the entire menu eventually as the service, food, and price were all excellent.
I arrived at aroun noon on a Saturday afternoon while hearing about this place from one of my friends. Apparently the people who run the cafe used to be owners of a similar restaurant in Xenia that my friend really adored. Â As I entered I saw a fairly empty dining room and I would have sat down but I was on the move that day and needed something to go.
I perused the menu, and while it is small, it did seem to have some pretty solid options and if the other items on the menu are as good as mine was I know I will be pleased. I opted for the Cherry Apricot Chicken Salad Sandwhich and upscaled it for a 1$ to get a "House" cookie and a side of brocolli chery nut salad. I also spied a delicious looking caramel cinnamon roll and decided to give it a try for a buck. I waited only about 5 minutes before my sandwhich and everything was ready.
I got out to my car and started my drive and got on the highway when I pulled out my nice little lunch. I was surprised at how big the sandwich was and was glad to see that it wasn't watery (like my own tends to be). It was by far the best chicken salad sandwich I have ever had as it wasn't overly thick and the ingredients were just spot on with some relatively fresh tomatoes. After finishing half my sandwich I balanced myself and drug into the broccoli salad, which I would normally avoid since I don't particularly care for it but hey I was trying new things out today. Again, I was surprised at how fresh everything tasted and was pleasantly surprised at how much I got. I wolfed down the entire thing because it was so delicious. I finished the 2nd half of my sandwich and was fairly full at this point, which is rare for me, but I still had my cookie and cinnamon roll to go.
The house cookie was of the chocolate chip variety kind and was mildly chunky and irregular in shape but all fantastic. I could have easily eaten 3 or 4 of those puppies and barely noticed it. Cinnamon rolls with me are like working out, best enjoyed in the morning only. I was half expecting it to be dry and a bit stale as it had been sitting for a while but found it instead to be quite excellent and moist. This was a pretty good sized cinnamon roll and when I think back at it wonder how they make a profit on these suckers for a buck!
I was able to walk out for a great sized lunch and dessert for around $8.50 and while it is more than you would pay for fast food it is immensely better tasting and better for you (okay maybe not the cookie and cinnamon roll but come on, I'm a growing boy).
As I was leaving they gave me a small customer appreciation card and was told that if I get 5 meals, I get 1 for free. How can you beat that? Okay, so I get 5 delicious lunches or breakfast and get one free so overall reducing the cost of all visits, count me in!
Whatever you do please, stop by and give them your support, you won't regret it.
I'd love to see more small, family run places like this open up in Beavercreek. It is over run with chain restaurants, and Cherry House is a nice change.
The menu is quite impressive for such a small place, with a large selection of cold and hot sandwiches. The Cherry Apricot Chicken Salad sandwich is especially good. There are vegetarian options, very healthy and delicious salads, and a few pasta dinners, and ever changing weekly specials. The sides are delicious from chicken pot pie soup to broccoli cherry nut salad, which I loved. They also make their own salad blends that you can buy in bulk and take home.
You just can't beat $6.95 for a sandwich/burger with a choice of side and a cookie!
The also have an yummy looking breakfast menu, that includes traditional meal plates, breakfast biscuits, and omelettes, which I will have to come back and sample soon!
The menu states that they also have a banquet room that seats up to 40, which is a nice offering.
