China Manor Restaurant

If you have read any of my reviews or have seen the distribution of the starts that I give out, it is rare that I give an establishment 5 stars. In this case, I have given this place 5 stars because of the friendliness of the owner, the service of the staff and the taste of the food. The decor at times can factor in to my decision but not as often as the taste and service because we all know that some of the best food out there can come from a place that does not look appealing.

My wife and I stumbled upon this place while taking the back roads home from work one night. We were getting hungry and decided to try this place since we saw it off the road.

When we walked in we were greeted promptly and seated almost immediately. There was a small crowd for the time we were visiting and the decor was modern yet similar to the way you'd expect to see in a Chinese restaurant.

Looking over the menu I can say that they have a large array of entrees and appetizers to offer their customers. They also have a sushi menu for those who are interested.

We ordered the 10 ingredient wanton soup, 2 shrimp egg rolls and Hunan beef. The soup was excellent. I loved the chicken, beef and shrimp with the mixed vegetables in the  soup. The broth was not too salty but still was flavorful. The shrimp egg rolls were great. I often do not like egg rolls but these reminded me of when I was younger and when the egg rolls didn't seem as commercialized. I know that these are probably made in mass quantities by machine but for some reason these really did taste good to me. The Hunan beef was good too. It wasn't cooked in too much sauce which often times happens. It was not too sweet or salty either, just right.

We got the opportunity to meet the owner who came out and talked with us about his restaurant. It was nice to get to know him and a little about the place.

When owners of establishments take the time to talk to you and get to know what you liked and disliked it shows a genuine interest in the people in which they are serving. I wish more establishments took the time to listen to their customers.

If you get the chance and happen to be in this area, give this place a try. I hope you enjoy it as much as my wife and I did.

We've been there a couple of times now and look forward to eating there when we decide to go there.

I love this restaurant. The food is wonderful and the owners are, too. Try the Crispy Duck!  Mmmmmmm!!

Living in Manchester, there were not many options for Chinese food before China Manor came along.  Chinese food is at the high end of what you can expect of local Chinese carryout.  Beef and broccoli is delicious, egg drop soup is great, egg rolls are also very good.  You'll find all of the standard fare on the menu and the food is dependably good.

The Sushi bar is also very good.  They offer a selection of specialty rolls, as well.  Try the Sweetheart Roll that is not on the menu.  We've always been very pleased with anything that we order off of the sushi menu.

We've only eaten in the restaurant a few times, mostly we will get carryout.  When we were in the restaurant, service was very good.  Carryout and delivery orders are prompt and accurate.
