Ordered the combo chow fun, chicken and snow peas, and the crab rangoon (total cost $23). Â Ordering on a Sunday night, they told me about 30 minutes for pick up. Â Got there and they were pretty full and lots of to-go orders waiting to go out. Â Always a good sign.
I think the portions were reasonable. Â The chow fun was a bit on the bland side but the veggies very crisp. Â My friend's chicken and snow peas was more flavorful and lots of very crisp veggies. Â The crab rangoons were alright; I guess I'm not as big a fan of them as some people. Â
I would/will definitely go back.
i come here at least once a month! cant really go too long without revisiting such yummy food. i love their house fried rice the most!!! i think the best deal is their family dinner option B so thats all my fam and i usually get it. a big fan of their crab rangoons too and general chicken. the bobas are well made here as well. friendly staff! love china one!
Review Source:I'm a huge fan of China One the food is so good compared to all the other fast food places as my fellow yelper/co-worker stated the best thing is they bring the food right to my desk literally he puts it on my desk:) I'm a big tipper I see now because I give him $5.00 and they charge me $2.00 already learn something new all the time. The food now Singapore noddles is my new fav with shrimp yum yum crab rangoon is a great indulgent my children and co-workers love the orange chicken it looks very plump. I gained 5 lbs eating at China One once a week in a month so I had to caution myself for special occasions only, because the portions can feed two hungry people easily. I suggested it for a birthday party at work just to get my fix because I eat less if I share it among others..The hot and sour soup is so good its seafood and I ask for extra spicy and veggies The Kung Pao shrimp is full of veggies stir fry to perfection without to much oil Sweet and Sour Shrimp is perfectly breaded with the pineapple sweet on your tongue of course I add pepper to this dish because it does not come with it. My Bobo tea without ice tops it off looking forward to the next birthday party at work!
Review Source:I have had China One on multiple occassions. It's the go-to place when everybody forgot their lunches and they don't want to drive out to get something to eat. They deliver for a $2 fee and usually take no more than 30 minutes. I like that they include free crispy noodles with your order and sweet and sour sauce! The lunch specials aren't bad, $5.95 for one item including rice/chowmein. I still prefer PX over other fast food chinese places because the prices are similar and I like the taste of PX better. I usually order the crab rangoon and thai tea from here, both of which are overpriced but I have to ge them when I'm craving it and someone else in the office is ordering from this place.
Review Source:Look at my profile pic... see the chopsticks? That means I know chinese food.
I read some of the bad reviews. Keeping in mind that the reviews are from amateur reviewers, so I had to find out for myself.
Unlike the average chinese take out, this place does not rely on overly salted flavor to win your palette. They make savory food.
Some off the itema on the menu are not found at the average chinese take out.
I tried the curry flavored "Singapore rice noodles." It's stir fried rice noodles with slices of chicken, bbq pork and shrimp, a scrambled egg (like you would find in fried rice), Â bean sprouts, onions, green onions bound by curry flavor.
Not only would I disregard some of the unfavorable comments, after finishing my dinner, I ordered more to take home. These chinese guys are on the hustle.
Definitely coming back.
I recommend going in because the deliver service is the work. I have never been yelled at by a deliver person because they got my order wrong. Then after the deliver guy finished yelling at me in a public place, he then took on himself to ask for a tip. Never been bullied into leaving a tip. I have work in food industry for 15+ years and this so far below standards and they need to get a new deliver guy. I will no longer be getting food from them and recommend that no of my friends are family go there either.
Review Source:It's not disgusting. Â It's just ok. Just can't believe it's a traditional Chinese restaurant price for generic, Americanized fast food style Chinese food. I'd have been better to save my money and gone to magic wok or Panda Express and it would have tasted the same but I would've saved $20!
Review Source:Better than the usual fast food chinese place although their prices do reflect that as well. Â I haven't had anything I was particularly in love with. Â The old standby orange chicken is always good, fried rice is okay and thanfully not greasy, and the chow mein is tasty with some nice chewy noodles. Â Other than that, I've tried a handful of their items (crab rangoon, sesame beef, beef and broccoli, beef w hot garlic sauce, kung pao shrimp) and I haven't been wowed by anything, but in the end it essentially is just fast food chinese.
Review Source:Sometimes Chinese food just sounds really good, and you have to have it, immediately. I had this place forevers ago by delivery with family, so I knew the food would be acceptable.
The place is clean, staff was so friendly, and an adorable little baby of one of the employee's was being all cute toddling around. The food came hot, fast and abundant. The bill was surprisingly cheap, and we even had leftovers.
So why the 3 stars?
My husband and I both had queazy stomachs for the rest of the night. We even threw out the leftovers, which broke my little cheap heart.
I would try the place again after a solid swig of pepto.
In a world of fast food, I'm constantly looking for good Chinese food beyond the average Panda Express types and also, beyond the Chinese buffets. Â Today we went all the way out to Fontana for China One, which someone had mentioned was a very good place for Chinese.
We walked in and at first were a little confused as to whether we needed to order first and then sit down or if someone was going to show us to a seat. Â There is a big menu on the wall with all their items which suggested that the register should be our first stop, but then a very young gentlemen approached us and asked if we were there for take-out or eating there, so I'm assuming now that people who are there for takeout are the ones utilizing the menu on the wall.
After looking through the menu (there are a LOT of choices), we decided to share one of their dinner combos, which in reality is enough food for 3 people. Â It consisted of a big bowl of eggdrop soup, 2 cream cheese won tons, 2 egg rolls, BBQ pork fried rice (or steamed rice) and 2 entrees of our choice. Â The entrees to choose from were listed below, however my husband really wanted honey walnut shrimp, which was NOT on the list, but for another $3, we were able to replace one of our default options with the honey walnut shrimp. Â I chose the sweet and sour pork.
The bowl of soup came out, and there was a LOT of soup. Â It was quite delicious, it had corn in it, which is a pleasant addition to any eggdrop soup. Â We weren't able to finish this soup, but with a 3rd person there, I'd say it probably would have been just enough for all. Â The rest of the food came out very fast, almost too fast. Â We were still eating soup by the time all our entrees and other appetizers had all arrived at our table. Â I do enjoy speedy service, but it was almost too fast because we didn't have enough time to enjoy the soup :)
The food was really good and plentiful! My daughter, who is 2, loved the fried rice and shoved it down. Â The sweet and sour pork was really ok, it's a dish that is difficult to screw up but it's also difficult to make it into something "spectacular" so it was really just an average "sweet and sour pork". Nice fresh veggies and plenty of pork.
The star of the meal though was the honey walnut shrimp, it's probably one of the best honey walnut shrimp dishes I've had. Â The shimps were big, fresh and really flavorful, the "mayo" sauce had some very nice flavoring to it that just brought this dish up a notch from where it's usually at. Â
The drinks were self service and I enjoyed that. Â No need to wait for someone to refill it, just get up and refill yourself once the cup is empty.
I'm a little on the fence here between a 3 and a 4 star, but I think that until I've tasted more of their food, a 3 will have to do, seeing as some of what we ate was average, and some was higher than average. Â (Nothing was below average! ;-))
Anyway, as far as Chinese food goes, give it a try, it's good food, definitely above the average fast food places. Â I'll be back.
Food decent, but not fantastic. Ordered Shrimp with lobster sauce, was mediocre. Have had pan fried noodles at chinese garden in montebello, no comparison! Thin noodle with heavy sauce, not very good... Every thing else was typical and just kind of ordinary. Hope to find a decent Chinese restaurant in Fontana area other than Panda(love orange chicken, hate chow mein there). Really craving good authentic chinese food!
Review Source:Someone reviewed this place complaining that the chow mein was "green n moldy" after trying to eat it after two days. You serious? Do you even know how to life?
Anyways, the food here is a step above the fast food Chinese joints. Paying the extra two or three dollars is worth it. I just wanted to review this place to comment on that lady's review. Like this everytime you cry.
I've been here quite a few times, especially with family. Never had problems with service, or anything. Growing up with Asian friends and trading my boring turkey sandwiches for Japanese bentos and having home made curry, congee, mapo tofu and orange chicken at their house for everyday home cooked meals... nothing compares. The food here to me tastes like something out of the freezer aisle. It is quite loud so be prepared to speak up! Drinks are great; I love the Thai iced tea here. The staff are always super friendly. Not expensive, If you're not picky like me about food, sure, check it out.
Review Source:7.26.11 at first I really like this place I have ordered delivery and the food was good no complaints. Well on this day I ordered chow mein n pepper chicken, I thought the chow mein was the crispy yellow egg noodle but nope this is a fast food joint just without the heat lamps. The pepper chicken was great. They give u alot of food.
So what's the con besides it not having non fast food style chow mein? The chow mein was cooked to order it was such a large portion I saved it for lunch two days later so on thurs I went to microwave it n the noodles were bad, it was green n moldy.. So disgusting, that meant the noodles were bad when I got it. So disappointing not coming back here anymore.
Not the run-of-the-mill Chinese take-out. Inside you won't find food sitting under heatlamps for God knows how long. They make everything fresh to order. You can see the chefs in the back "wok'in" up a storm. Once you enter you see the menu plastered on the wall. They have a good variety of items for a take-out place. Most of the entrees cost around $6-$9, a bit pricier than Panda Express but worth it.
I've always passed by this place when I'm shopping in the area. I was in the area again and was hungry and felt lazy to cook plus the smell lured me. I made this place an impromptu takeout spot. Â I ordered three dishes for myself and another to share for take-out; Shrimp Fried Rice, Beef Chow Fun, and Sweet and Sour Pork. I ordered and left in 10 minutes. The flavor of the rice was good though I felt the rice was a bit undercooked. The beef chow fun was good I didn't want to share though a bit more soy sauce was needed. The sweet and sour pork was one of the best I've had out of a take-out place, even better than Panda Express. The pork along with other meat entrees come with steamed rice. With my order they also included wonton chips. The portions were good enough we even had leftovers afterwards.
I'm definitely coming back here. It's sad when Panda Express is your "go-to" take-out spot but in an area dominated by chains and very little good mom n' pop take-out spots, it's reality for me. This place is promising and will most likely will replace Panda Express very soon after more visits.
I couldn't get out while I watched my grandpa and I needed food- stat!. Â I called for delivery and it hit the spot.
They said it probably will be 40 minutes but they were there fast! My food came delightfully hot in 20 minutes, but my mom doesn't live too far.
I ordered crab rangoons. I just wanted something fried and creamy comfort. Theirs were really good. It was very crisp, not greasy and the filling was very creamy but had a tasty garlicky, onion flavor. Mildy surprised I enjoyed them enough to want more the next day.
For my main I got mongolian beef. The meat was tender and it was filled with fresh bell peppers and onions. I like that their foods aren't the usual very greasy take away food and the components all taste fresh. Portion was good enough that I had leftovers enough for another meal.
Cost was $12 and some change for my food, plus $2.50 delivery charge so the cost was in the usual range for take out.
This place doesn't come close to LA Chinese food, but for a take out around these parts it's solid.
The smell alone made me want to visit this place. Â It is right next to Target, so that is how I initially found it and thought I'd give it a try. Â I'm glad that I did as the food was really good, the portions were big and the service was the best!!! Â The staff is very attentive and let me pick and choose my substitutions without any hassle.
I've been back twice and I'm sure it will quickly become another one of my favorites when I've just gotta have Chinese! Â
I love the Mangolian Beef, but it is VERY SPICY. Â You can order it without the sauce to tone it down but I love spicy food (fair warning). Â
Give this place a try and you'll be hooked. Â Great food, decent prices, generous portions and good service. Â
I'm a very hard person to please in general, so that is why I gave 4 stars. Â I'm not a 5 star person since there is always room for improvement :-)
We've eaten here several times and the food was always outstanding. However, on my last and final visit to pickup a phone order I witnessed the cooks eating food on the line with a woman boxing our food. I'd like to mention upon entering the restaurant I noticed this same woman blowing her nose while bussing tables.
Not only is this gross but a huge health code violation. A few minutes later the delivery driver put a half eaten bowl of something in the cooler where they store canned drinks.
I asked the man at the register to cancel my order and informed him why. At first he did not want to give me a refund but rather have them fix another order. I declined and he gave me a full refund.
Things have changed since I was here last year. Had the Mongolian Beef lunch special. I dined in this time (rather than my usual take out). The egg flower soup is for dining in only (not included with take out) - yet it is served in a take out styrofoam bowl with a plastic spoon (TAKE OUT STUFF), as same with the water (with lemon slices) - a very small styrofoam cup. And the meal is served in the take out styrofoam box rather than a plastic plate. It was really awkward for me dining there. I was thinking, why am I hear when I could have taking all this home? It was already packaged that way. Â
The flavor of the Mongolian Beef was not as thrilling as the first time. Chow mein was great. Way better noodles than Panda Express. I guess I was a bit disappointed. I think last year there was a free wonton or something - nothing is free now.
The soup thing really threw me for a loop. At least use plastic tumbler glassware for the beverages rather than a cheap, small styrofoam cup. Also, if you're serving soup for dine in customers only - use a plastic bowl rather than a styrofoam and plastic spoon (those are for take out). It's TACKY. It defeats the purpose of staying for the dining experience.
They serve lunch through 4:00pm. So take advantage of the lunch special prices.
Tried this place out with my mom the other day after getting coupons in the mail from them. Very impressive. We each ordered a lunch special and had enough leftovers for another meal later on in the day. And we both have good appetites.
They're lunch specials are $5.75 or $6.25 if you order an entree special with shrimp. I got the mongolian beef and it was sooo good! So much meat and chilis and peppers. Lots of garlic, lots of flavor. So just a warning, you're probably going to smell like garlic or chinese food after. The portions are so generous, everything was spilling out of the container. It came with chow mein, fried rice, and egg drop soup. My mom got the shrimp chop suey and all the vegetables were so crisp and fresh with huge, plump shrimps. However, I didn't get any free wonton strip chips.
The ambience is a fast food chinese place w/ seating. Think something like Tasty Goody. Except the food is much better and everything is cooked to order.
Looking at the menu they have other non-chinese asian entrees like pad thai and vietnamese rice noodle. They also have boba drinks and Thai iced tea!
One thing that irked me was that I ordered hot tea, but it was served in a tall styrofoam soft drink cup w/ no lid for hot drinks. I had to take my tea to-go when we were down eating and browsed in Target, and it was annoying to constantly have to lid/unlid to drink. Hopefully they get something more suitable for their hot drinks.
Oh! They also do delivery within 4 miles ($2 delivery charge).
I think I found my new go-to chinese place..
I have gone to this place about three times already, and there is something unique about this place that keeps my wife and I coming back. I guess its the food, because we have only order two or three dishes and I have to say, they are very very good. Not your usual fast-food Chinese place.
You can either dine-in or dine-out your preference. They have a variety of items to choose and they serve you in bid plates, with big amounts. We will have to go back one of these days, and try something else that will partner with my Shrimp & Fried Rice. Ohh and they serve you some small ships and some kinds sweet honey dip, all dishes I think come with white rice. The staff is courteous, but a little hard to understand at times. I recommend anyone to go to China One, 4sure...
I'm something of a snob when it comes to Chinese food. Â I'm fortunate enough to have several friends who speak the language and take me to places I would never know what to order.
That being said, most Chinese places cater to American tastes. Â Way too much oil, sloppy food and basically in the vein of a Taco Bell or Mc Donalds.
China One is much like the food I have when I go into that part of town where "the locals' eat except the locals are Chinese!!!!
Most of the staff who work there are from the San Gabriel, Monterey Park, Rosemead area which is a stronghold of Chinese cooking. Â No longer do I have to drive all the way out there to get the food I know and love for the past 20+ years.
You can't go wrong with ordering anything and I'll complete agree with everyone's take so as not to repeat things already said.
The best thing about an authentic Chinese place is that once they get to know you and if you know your Chinese food, they will make it for you even if it's not on the menu.
Sorry to take so long here, but I want everyone to know how really good this place is.
SPREAD THE WORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The best time to go is lunch time because its cheaper than dinner  costs. However, the tastes far out weighs cost! So delicious! I  happened to come here for dinner which cost me about 9 dollars! No combos at dinner I was informed. OMG the food is freshly made to order and the taste is amazing! I have found a gem! I had the moo shu pork which is served with flour tortillas and white rice. PERFECTION!
Review Source:Finally a great Chinese food restaurant in our area! Very fresh and delicious food and they are close to where I live. Great customer service and they do not use MSG! I am very happy we stumbled upon this place since it is on the side of Target and next to a Beauty supply store!
I live in the East end of Rancho Cucamonga and this place is a blessing! Sorry Panda express, Pick up stix (yuk) and Mr. You, I have found my habit!
I have to say.. I am very impressed with China One..
Their food is cooked to order.. and the veggies are soooo fresh!
I ordered their wonton soup.. their veggies are super fresh and their color is so vibrant.. not like at Tasty Goody where you can see the brown spots on their zucchini sometimes..
We also ordered their shrimps with lobster sauce and those shrimp were perfectly cooked and plump!
Lastly, we ordered the eggplant tofu and again.. super fresh and tasty..
Their food isn't too salty.. so that's good.. they say they don't use MSG and so far.. so good.. no MSG-headache for me!
You go into the restuarant and if you plan on dining in... pick a table and they'll give you a menu and give you full sit-down restuarant service.. but if you are planning for take-out.. go straight to the register..
We didn't know that so getting ourselves situated was a bit chaotic..
They've only been open for about a month and a half.. so I'm sure they'll streamline that little system of theirs..
This is definitely some place I would go to again..
Grand opening! Â This place is brand spanking new and only found out because my wife passed by it while heading to Target. Â It's right next to the Payless Shoe Source store so it's well hidden in the complex.
When you come in, it looks like a fast food joint, much like Pick up Stix, but it is really more of a restaurant, even though a very large menu is sitting right up against a wall.
We ordered the Black Pepper Chicken (pretty tasty), Chicken with Broccoli (not bad) and Sauteed Spinach (quite good). Â The amounts are reasonably generous, even on the steamed rice. Â I'm not sure if they were giving stuff away because it's sort of a grand opening (they had been open for 2 weeks), but they gave us a couple of fried wontons (you know, those ones filled with cream cheese).
Overall, a nice experience and wouldn't mind coming back. Â The people were really nice and the service was very good (rare in Chinese restaurants) and they were pretty busy. Â The staff kept on coming by, but now I'm not sure if they did that to really give us good service or to play with our li'l one.
