I make 'Chinese' food at home from scratch and it's delicious and not terribly expensive (other than the oil for deep frying the meat). Â It is, however, a huge mess to clean up (few staging bowls, cast iron wok, etc...) and I don't take the time to make up egg rolls from scratch. Â So, what I'm looking for in a Chinese take-out/sit down place is food that is at least as delicious as what I am capable of making and cheap enough to make it worth buying instead of making from scratch.
This place fits the bill. Â It looks like a hole in the wall from the street, but has a very tasteful interior with seating (although I've only ever done takeout). Â Lunch specials are around $6 each and include fried rice and an egg roll. Â Dinner combo plates are closer to $9 and include the same and the full entrees include white rice instead of fried. Â Chicken quality is good - tender but without feeling under-fried. Â Steak was less than desirable (but this is not uncommon when the price is this low). Â Service is very friendly - they will customize the spicyness of your order (my mother-in-law wanted extra spicy Sesame Chicken and it was hotter than what my wife ordered). Â Fairly quick service as well.
They also sell Japanese food here, but I've never ordered it. Â I don't know if they deliver as I'm insufficiently familiar with their menu (and unwilling to bring one home) to try and order over the phone. Â This is streets ahead of Ming Garden in taste AND quality.
