I came here with a birthday party of 6 for hibachi. The overall theme of the night was that we were rushed through the entire experience (minus waiting to be seated). As soon as we sat down, they started taking drink orders. Fine... except if I say I need another minute, I mean at least one minute and not 15 seconds. Then, we were asked what we'd like to order immediately after by another server. I get that it's hibachi and orders need to be placed so that everything can get to the chef for the presentation, but I didn't even have my drink yet. Totally felt overwhelmed.
The hibachi show was the shortest I'd seen. He skipped over people for the famous "sake shooter" move, which was pretty lame. And the food was typical hibachi style. You go for the experience, not the cuisine.. so I'm not going to hold that against them.
I checked my watch when they gave us the bill. 30 minutes. That's how fast they were accelerating through the whole dining experience for a meal that is NOT at fast food prices. Unfortunately, Killington does not have a landmark Japanese restaurant worth going to. Don't try to make this one work, not worth the $$. Maybe better for apres ski drinks, Asian style?
You know, only if the owners would hire better waitresses/waiters, this place would be great. Unfortunately you have to deal with slow, non-caring help. And worse of all you have to give them 20% tip if you have a table if 6+. And waitresses know this so there is no service whatsoever due to this policy. HEY OWNERS, your help is slacking! Try to show up more and check up on them so we can get the service we are paying so much for!
Review Source:terrible! avoid ... wish I had looked some reviews! we had  a party of nine reservation for 9pm, it took 30min for the watress to find us a table. then after seating it was another 30 min to get the hibashi chef to show up!
Then the food was so plain nothing special it ws even served cold! one of our pals even got hair inhis food. The waitress adjuted the check but still ..... this place is a scam!
It's been a few years since my last Killington visit, but I've always enjoyed the complimentary General Tso's-flavored wings offered here from 3-6pm - a perfect way to cap off the ski day!  Although other places used to also provide free wings, it turns out that Sushi Yoshi is the only remaining spot on the access road that continues to offer them!  This past weekend, my friend and I found ourselves here after some aprés ski bar hopping along the access road (Casey's Caboose, Charity's, Mogul's) and, after some sampling, we both agreed that Sushi Yoshi has got the best wings of them all, free or otherwise.  Will (the guy with a pen always in his ear) was our server/bartender and was quick with both our drink orders and with dishing out those free wings for us to munch on.
Of course, Sushi Yoshi's got a lot more to offer than just the free wings. Â They have solid menu of Chinese & Japanese selections, a hibachi room with a handful of tables and separate menu, a small sushi bar in the back, and some billiards and video games as well. Â I have yet to eat anything besides the wings, but sooner or later, I'll have to come back and update this review!
Came here last night after having made a reservation for the 15 of us. This place was absolutely packed when we arrived and we were really glad that we had made arrangements beforehand, otherwise, we probably would've waited for quite a while before getting seated.
Most of us got hibachi items, but I chose to order off the menu. I had a saketini, which was ridiculously strong. I got the Buddhist's delight dish (fine, but the sauce was VERY salty), and shared a vegetable lo mein with my vegetarian cohort who was also on the same ski trip. The food was nothing really to write home about, but the hibachi experience was fun, and the servers were also really friendly. I heard there were arcade machines downstairs by where the restrooms were located, but I didn't get to see them for myself.
Yeah, the hibachi items are not cheap, but most things near a ski resort are not going to be cheap anyway. A fun place to go with your friends and/or family after a strenuous day out on the slopes!
While in Killington for our annual ski trip we had went to Yoshi Sushi we were seated right away, service was great an so was the food. Â The place was packed. So it seems like a popular spot. For the people who complain about price there is a McDonalds in Rutland where you can get a fish sandwich for a good price.
Review Source:Not bad! Very nice atmosphere and staff great! We love sushi but weren't in the mods that night so went with the Chinese. My meal of Happy family was very good and tasty. My hubby wished he ordered it as his Pad Thai noodles was just okay. This place is more known for its sushi and hibachi so it's hard to rate! It's also hard because we are from NY where there's great Chinese and Thai everywhere. Still had a good time! They have free wings at the bar during happy hour!!!
Review Source:Price was spot on for a resort... Â The $16 rolls are specialty rolls, not standard rolls. Â Very similar pricing to Philadelphia restaurants.
The sushi was very decent. Â Had the sushi/sashimi combo and the fish was of decent quality. Â The nigiri was cut very small... Â Lets face it... Â This is probably what you would expect.
I also split the habachi... Â Filet and scallops. Â The filet was excellent. Â The scallops so so. Â Either way our chef was a bit of a d-bag. Â Just a slight hint of attitude and seemed like he just wanted to go home. Â That aside, Â the food wasn't bad. Â And I did not regret coming here.
We were promptly seated by the hostess. After getting seated, we were quickly greeted by a waiter and asked what we would like to drink. With barely a chance to look at the food menu, we settled with water.
We decided to eat family style and I ordered the Black Bean Shrimp. My mom ordered the Tofu with Garlic Sauce and my step-dad ordered the Shrimp Fried Rice. It was the Christmas Holidays, and the restaurant was starting to fill up after we arrived.
Our food came out at lightning speed. We also ordered Shrimp Shumai and that came out a few minutes later.
The Black Bean Shrimp was delicious. The shrimp was cooked until it was nice and plump and I would recommend it. The Tofu with Garlic sauce was good, but a little bit on the sweet side. And the Shrimp Shumai should be stayed away from entirely. I didn't try the Shrimp Fried Rice but my mom and step-dad seemed to like it.
All-in-all, the food here was decent, and the service was prompt, however, the prices were a little bit expensive for what you get. I guess that's expected since it is located so close to Killington. 3 stars because of the price and the horrendous Shrimp Shumai.
This review is based on the fact that this sushi/hibachi restaurant is located in Killington Vermont.  They are the only show in town.  I visited on a Sunday night at 6:00pm in the off season.  There was no wait, but there were some other patrons.  There were (2) sixteen  seat hibachi tables and several other restaurant tables.  I didn't notice an actual sushi bar.  Our waitress was very friendly.  I ordered a sashimi appetizer ($12) and filet and shrimp hibachi ($32).  A little pricey, but I don't mind paying for good food/portions.  The sashimi appetizer was a big disappointement.  The pieces of fish were very very small.  I will say that it was fresh.  The hibachi was next.  The chef was fun and quite talented.  The portions were pretty much right on with what I'm used to in New Jersey.  Just too pricey.  Again.. I understand that I'm in Vermont.  Flavors were good.  The standard use of garlic ,soy, butter etc.  My filet was cooked rare as I ordered it.  The shrimp were just a bit overcooked.  If you're at Killington and have a craving for sushi, wait til you get home.  If you have a hankering for hibachi, its just fine as long as you're willing to pay a few extra dollars for it.
Review Source:The most expensive sushi place I have ever been to. Â
The prices here are made by children who think in the context of Life or Monopoly money. Â After the grand opening, the head chef gave the menu to a child and said fill in the prices, and that's what they go by. Â Its ludicrous here. Â Its nonsensical. Â 6 dollar Miso Soup? Â 16 dollar standard sushi rolls?
SIXTEEN dollar standard sushi rolls?!?!?!?!
!?!?!?!?!
I know sushi cravings come. Â But do you want to make your mortgage payment after your Killington vacation is over? Â Ask yourself that question and get back to me.
Mediocre Sushi, but I think they have a monopoly in the killington area. The Arcade, classic rock music, and mix of "Gourmet" Chinese and Hibachi is a little confusing.
We sat at the Sushi Bar thinking that we would be able to see our food prepared and maybe interact with the chefs. The 4 sushi chefs perform their robotic duties with such alacrity that there seems to be no emotion or passion involved. Additionally, the sushi Bar is right next to the arcade area. In addition to the loud mix of classic rock and top 40 music, the children playing in the background also distracted from my romantic date with my wife.
The egg roll taste like any egg roll I could get at a Chinese take-out. The Black Dragon roll was petite and unremarkable, which was disappointing considering the $15+ price for it. The special of the day, the "Crazy Roll" was pretty good.
I can't comment on the Hibachi Grills since we were not near them.
It's a good restaurant to satiate a sushi craving, but otherwise our dining experience was overpriced and unremarkable.
Dome Aragato Mr. Roboto!
Take this one for what it's worth because we didn't stay long enough to actually eat. Our 10 minute experience was like this: Â Weekday, mountain not crowded at all. Â We get to yoshi and there's a 1 hr wait for the chop-chop tables but we're told we can sit at a table or in the bar no problem. Â So we ask the bartender if we can sit at the one table in the bar and she says sure she'll be glad to take care of us. Â We sat ourselves at the table, in direct eyeshot of the bartender, for 10 minutes while she chatted with the one guy at the bar. Â After 5 minutes we were joking to ourselves about it but after 10 minutes we simply got tired of waiting and left. Â Nobody had given us menus, said hello, asked for a drink order, nothing. Â I know it's not fair to rate a restaurant where we didn't actually eat but you know, when the joint is empty I feel like it's not too much to ask to bring some menus and get a drink order within 10 minutes.
Review Source:This place is great for big groups. I traveled from Chicago on a skiing trip and our Captain suggested Sushi Yoshi. We had a great experience. The wait staff was excellent. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was fun. More importantly, I left my hat there and the staff was nice enough to mail it back to me. I look forward to my next trip to Killington and will definitely eat at Sushi Yoshi.
Review Source:4 stars because the wings are free from 3-6 and taste delicious! The service was pretty good and they definitely don't cheap out on the free wings.. The perfect place to go after boarding but the bar area is small so go there early or you're gonna end up eating wings standin up!
The sushi here is wack.. I got a $9 yellowtail roll and it was 6 small pieces... I think I can get that in ny for like 3 bucks!!
My friends said the Chinese food was good but it looked so-so
Next time I go, it'll be just wings and beer!
My girlfriend and I eat sushi at least once or twice a week, so we were pretty skeptical of a sushi place in the middle of a vermont tourist area.
I'm happy to say that we had a great experience.
The tuna rolls came in at around $7 and had nice big chunks of very suprisingly fresh tuna.
We had dinner at the hibachi table and were kept entertained by the chef who cooked us fantastic vegetables, noodles, and salmon with a brown glaze. Delicous!
A good and wide range of sushi especially when you consider it's halfway up a mountain also a good selection of rolls, and all very good. Try the eel roll, very tasty...Not a huge selection of Chinese food but what there is is good. Along with the other restaurants on the access road good value for money, pleasant staff and good food.
Review Source:Just getting around to rating restaurants from a ski trip last winter. This one gets two stars only because it wasn't as appalling as the other restaurants my wife and I visited. In fact, I strongly advise anyone visiting Killington, who knows the difference between food fit for humans and that meant for animals, to drive to nearby Rutland and find yourself a nice predictable chain restaurant. It'll be mediocre, but not vomit-inducing.
The interior of Sushi Yoshi is, how shall I put this... tacky! It looks like a restaurant that Disney would have built during the tiki cultural fad. They have little enclaves meant to look like a tropical gazebo where you can eat, and a few hibachi tables. The question is, why would you want hibachi on a skiing vacation in Vermont? I really don't know why restaurants in Killington don't just focus on fresh high quality country food.
The food at Sushi Yoshi isn't dreadful, just very oily and bland. The spring rolls tasted like vegetable oil. Hot and sour soup was poor. And the chicken over rice entrees we both had were highly forgettable. Don't waste your time or your money.
Went here week of MLK 2009 on a weeknight. Â Not a holiday, thus the restaurant was empty.
Sat at regular table. Â However, there is a bar and hibachi tables available if you are so inclined. Â Ordered sushi only.
To be blunt, the food was unimaginative and overpriced. Â You can get larger portions for half the price in downtown Rutland, a 20 minute drive on Rt 4 west. Â For 2 people, including 2 small appetizers and moderate portion of sushi, with tip, $110. Â I can do 10x better with the same price at a far better restaurant in New York City.
I guess you can't really blame them as they are first and foremost catering to the Killington ski crowd. Â If you are a native like I am, or if you think you are somewhat of a "connoisseur" of sushi, just skip it and go elsewhere.
Sushi Yoshi is the most versatile restaurant I've been to in years. From the FREE Happy Hour Wings, to the sushi, to the Chinese food, to the Hibachi Grill, Sushi Yoshi fails to disappoint my palate (your eyes are not playing tricks on you - I did just write a double negative)
My experiences at Sushi Yoshi starting at the beginning:
- Mu Shu Veggie - not greasy at all and enough for 2 generous portions
- Split 2 sushi rolls with a housemate - can't remember exactly what, but they were unusual and yummy
- Happy Hour Wings & Long Trail - seriously do I even need to comment?
- Hibachi Grill - Pee Pee Sake says it all.
I plan on going back to Sushi every time I'm up at Killy because it's simply too awesome to pass up!
