When it comes to Chinese takeout, we always order from the Chopstick House. They have the your standard favorites--Kung Pao Shrimp, General Tso's Chicken, Egg Drop Soup, Moo Goo Gai Pan. With takeout, your meal comes with Egg Rolls, Rice, and Fortune Cookies.
The last time we ate at the restaurant, we ordered the Lemon Chicken. If you like lemon, then you'll love it. The chicken was breaded and crispy with a lemon sauce (which is hard to do). We also had the Curry Chicken that was pretty good, although not my favorite. And I'm not the biggest fan of their Crab Rangoon (too much cream cheese, not enough crab). But I love their Kung Pao Beef, and their Plum Wine is absolutely wonderful. And the selection of meals is pretty extensive.
As for the service, it's always good. And the ambiance is low lighting and quiet. Definitely the Chinese restaurant to eat at for the price.
Really clean restaurant with good food and a really nice staff. Â Karen, the owner, is one of the friendliest people I've ever met, and she will go out of her way to make sure your have a great meal. Â She even sends my family a Christmas card and gift certificate every year! Â I usually order the hot and sour soup, which is delicious, and comes with your meal. Â As an entree I get the Hunan vegetables (not on the menu but they will make it for you), which are basically vegetables with a slightly spicy sauce. Â I don't think the decor in the restaurant has changed in the past twenty or so years, but the food is good and the service is friendly, so I can look past that.
Review Source:I was initially skeptical of the Chopstick House based upon its location in a strip mall and predictable decor; however, when my food came, I was convinced that it is a contender for the best Chinese restaurant in Evansville. Â
Like most Chinese restaurants in the area, the dinner portions at Chopstick House are generous, leaving most patrons with enough food for lunch the next day. Â What makes the Chopstick House different than other restaurants is the fact that all of the chicken dishes are made with white meat, which makes them much better than typical Asian fare. Â In addition, every meal comes with soup and a sugar cookie, which is more than enough to ensure that you will leave with a smile on your face. Â
In terms of service, the owners are incredibly friendly and make you feel welcome without interfering with your meal. Â There are usually other diners in the restaurant, but never enough to constitute a crowd. Â
While the Chopstick House may not constitute "fine dining," it is one of the best casual restaurants serving ethnic food in town. Â This is a place that would be good for a casual date or a dinner with friends.
