A big group of us came here for a friend's party and we were able to snag some tables outside, which was nice. Â The beers were all pretty standard, as is everything else about the place. Â There's nothing super exciting about the bar, other than that it's a bar way out in Queens. Â I think that if I lived in the area, I'd probably be a regular. Â The only major issue we experienced was that the kitchen had already closed when we got there (about 10pm...) so it was a little disappointing to not be able to have a proper dinner, but they did let us order some apps so that was nice.
Review Source:This is our go to place in the summer. They have a large patio with table service for food & drinks! Â What better way to spend a summer afternoon or evening then having an ice cold beer? Â They have good service and a nice variety of standard bar food - the burgers are out of this world delicious!
Review Source:I have eaten here numerous times. I have stopped in with the plans of eating, and leaving with many an adult beverage in me without any food. I have gone solely to drink. Most of the experiences have been average to good. Like others have said they have a decent selection in the bar. The food is pretty good.
I bring people here routinely if they are visiting and we want a bite to eat. I would say my best experiences have been when I plunk myself down at the bar on a super slow night and just shoot the breeze with the regulars.
I am changing my planned 3 to a 4 because after many, many bars in different parts of the country (and outside it) there are maybe like 5 I have been to that actually know how to serve a Guinness. It is always beautifully layered. The keg lines are kept clean. None of that sickly taste you get from other bars that swap lines with other beers and pour your beer zero to full all in one sitting.
I will admit I am put off from going on the really nice weather days. I walk by every day of the week. I know a decent amount of the regulars who are there between 5 and 8 on any given day. On the nice weather days I will walk by and the patio is packed with strangers who seem to think they run the place. I like that Sulli's is getting business. I do not like the atmosphere that develops in some of these mobs.
All in all a solid Irish pub.
Lets say you want a couple drinks before the train and don't want to have to run like a psycho in the event you lose track of time...where do you go?
Sullivans. Â My friend and I mustve been a little slow, or tipsy, Saturday afternoon and couldn't figure out how to get inside, but luckily someone from the INSIDE helped us out. Â Good few beers on tap, bunch of TVs on with surround sound football, and a cute little old man putting the hurt on some chicken soup that smelt GREAT.
really nice people working here, as well, the bartender was chatty but not annoying...and there were bengals fans here (what, I am in queens right?) Â there's a nice patio outside, that looks like it'll be great in the summer (and is, since I vaguely remember spending many weekends here). Â Has the tendency to get crowded around the train schedule and on nice weekend nights/days...it IS just steps off bell.
This is great spot for drinks with friends, especially during the summer in the outdoor area. The food is pretty good, but I'm usually there for drinks. The bar areas do get crowded, so there can be a wait for drinks. Trivia night is fun too. The night before Thanksgiving is way too crowded.
Review Source:I never had a bad time at Sullivan's and especially loved this spot when i was 17-20 because they never turned me down with my fake ID. Â Now that I'm older and hopefully somewhat wiser, I figured I would finally have a sit-down meal here with a couple of adult beverages WITHOUT getting blackout drunk.
Here's what happened,.... Everything was good. Â I couldn't complain about anything really, but I'm not raving about anything either.
I went through a couple of bottle of Corona (they were all out of Summer Ale on a Monday night which is understandable) Â and split an order of nachos with a buddy of mine and finished off my meal with a 1/2lb. Burger with Bacon and cheese. Â The burger was good, the cheddar was better and average actually. Â Honestly, the fries there suck... they are shoestring, cafeteria fries and a sad excuse for an Irish Sports Bar. Â
Like I said, nothing bad here but nothing great either.... everything is reasonably priced, but Sullivan's just isn't my go-to place when I think of local pubs and sports bars.
Love the atmosphere at Sullivan's but I hate the service. Â Especially when it's relatively busy, they don't know what to do with themselves. Â The staff likes to chat with one another and not pay attention to their customers. Â After waiting 30 minutes, I asked a server if she could check on our appetizers and she told me to take a look around because they're obviously busy and the kitchen is backed up with tickets. Â It's just "luck of the draw" as to who gets their food. Â Not the kind of response you want to hear from your server. Â In addition, the food is so so. Â Nothing special to say about it.
This place is only good for drinking and meeting up with friends, which is all I will do there from now on.
How could you come to Bayside in the summer and not stop by Sullivan's? Â It's a great spot right by the train station and has a patio with tables and chairs and outdoor bar that opens as soon as it's warm enough out. Â They even have TVs outside so you can enjoy whatever sporting event they have showing. Â The inside is a little small and also has a dining area if you were looking to sit down for some dinner.
Other than that, Sullivan's is your typical Irish pub with a standard selection of beers by the bottle and on tap (oh and Magic Hat #9 in a can!) and obviously a fully stocked bar. Â The staff is funny and friendly to match their patrons! Â Food is consists of the standard burgers and wings, etc. and they have live music at times!
Literally steps from the train station, so a great spot to grab a few drinks before heading on the LIRR to Citi Field or on your way to Penn Station. Â I literally left one evening with 3 minutes to catch the train and made it to the ticket machine and on the train with a minute to spare.
Went for happy hour. Â Wasn't very happy. Â Had to wait more than 5 minutes for bartender. Â He gave us the drink and disappeared again. Â Most disappointing about absence of munchies. Â Weak and watery alcoholic drinks. Â No fruit slices in drink. Â What can they do to get us to come back?
Review Source:Came here with some friends to watch the Jets vs Denver game hoping that Jesus freak , Tebow, Â gets destroyed. Didn't happen. However the wings were 25 C which is great. We got the bbq wings and they were good. My friend got some giant steak which was out of this world. Right before the game ended the bar was giving out free hot dogs. It's a shame they don't have any specials during New York Rangers games otherwise I'd go there more often.
CJ's has both an outdoor patio area and an inside restaurant. I was just at the bar.
Great place to go to watch football on Sundays. The beers are a little pricey compared to other bars that offer specials but it's nothing too extraordinary.
The burger is a bit blend but for five dollars you can't really go wrong.
The wings are good but a little dry in the middle.
Even though the food wasn't great and the beers weren't that cheap, I would come back because it is not overly packed for football.
Sullivan's is one of the more laid back bars on Bell. It is more sports emphasized with big screen TVs playing sports more than music blaring (although you do find TVs in almost every bar on Bell). The outdoor area is very nice for the summer, they have plenty of area to sit and mingle with your friends while enjoying some drinks. Their drinks are average price and they are usually very generous with the amount of alcohol in the drinks.
I have also come here in the afternoon to have lunch. Again it is so nice when you sit outside and eat. Since I am inside most of the time at work I feen for the sun, so any change I can sit and eat outside I am a happy girl! My favorite thing to order is the Chicken Monterrey. It is a grilled pita bread with big chicken breasts and jack cheese. The best part of it is the spread they give you. It is a mix of sour cream and salsa, it is delicious! Their fries are really good too and I usually end up dipping them in the sauce also.
Yes, it is not fancy and yes your feet might stick to the floor in the indoor part of the bar, but hey if you are looking for something fancy I think you better travel away from Bell Blvd!
This place is as good as it gets for me but I may be biased because some three and a half, almost four years ago, I met my boyfriend here through a mutual friend. :-)
But besides that, this place rocks. The Espositos host their (we had the 2nd) annual "Screw Leukemia" party in honor of Jennifer here and Sullivan's generously donates their food for the party since this generates them a ton of customers! The bartenders are all super nice and easy on the eyes. Plus, the food? AMAZING! Besides the pasta, I tried the fried shrimp which was made so well...I think I'll stop by again soon just to get that as an appetizer!
They have outdoor seating, which is a huge plus, and they're right by the LIRR - Bayside station.
People for some reason tend to rate places on their own scale and not on what the bar actually is. Â CJ Sullivan's is a great sports bar that is owned by a golf loving gentleman and have a friendly staff. Â The outdoor patio is great during the summer and the drinks are not too expensive. Â If you are a girl who fancies NYC lounges and men that buy you $350 bottles of Grey Goose then this is not your place, but it is not trying to be!
If you are looking to relax with some good people while enjoying a cold beer and a ball game on the outdoor tv's, then this place is for you!
I've never actually gone here to eat only for drinks.
This is one of those places that I never want to go to but always wind up back at. A real neighborhood spot where you always run into people you know...usually the ones you have no interest in seeing.
The outside area is nice if its nice out but its also usually packed during summer. The inside area is your typical bar sticky floors and all by midnight on any given weekend.
It definitely attracts the frat boy element and, if you're not accustomed to the late night juke box sing-alongs, that can be a little jarring. But you don't go here for the food and you're probably not going to go here for a high-class cocktail.
This is a place you go when you want to drink with your buds, dance with friends and maybe hang out on the patio. Also -- a good place to have a quick drink if you're waiting for the LIRR.
One of the best places to chill on Bell Blvd in the summer. I love that you can sit and smoke cigarettes outside while you drink. The music was great and access to the outdoor bar saves you trouble walking inside. There is always a great crowd. I always start off the night here and then work my way towards other bars on Bell.
Review Source:Every time I come to LI to visit VH, for me it almost feels like a mini-vacation: new places, away from the city, close to the ocean... it sounds fun and exciting to me.
VH insists that LI sucks, and although I don't mind an evening in LI every once in a while, after being at C J Sullivan's I think VH might have a point here...
This anonimous sports bar has a nice patio that shows a lot of potential: a nice, dimly lit outdoors space tucked away from the traffic of Bell Blvd, with round metal tables under sunshades.
But then you have the massive flat screen TV in the middle of the space, a bar with a boombox blasting truly awful music, and a bartender that serves gin+tonic in plastic cups (I am not kidding!).
I understand these kind of places make most of their money out of a frat boy clientele, but then why not devote the indoor space to that and use the outdoor space for something different, and attract not just white trash but also people who may want to enjoy a nice cocktail (in a glass, please) and chat in a nice, welcoming environment, without the distraction of a blasting TV screen?
Why do places in Bayside have to be so tacky? We came here for a cocktail before dinner, and really why do people in Long Island have to be so tasteless? The outdoor area is nice, but its ruined by big screen TVs, and the drinks are just really so-so. God...I need to get out of this place...sob...sob...
