I totally just orally raped a burger here.  It even had wasabi mayo.  A few bites burned my throat for a second but it was worth it.  The sweet potato fries were to die for as well.  I love sweet potatoes but I don't like them with the brown sugar and butter.  These definitely didn't have any, but they came with really good dipping sauce.  I want to go back, it's too far it's a bit of a drive!

I really want to be a fan of Cleary's but I just can't, until they update their menu. I can never find anything that sounds appealing from what they have to offer.

They have recently rennovated the store front and put in new banquette (booths) seating. The interior is much nicer and doesn't smell stale as it used to.  Better use of space and huge improvement.

Service is great. The ladies are always attentive and friendly.

The burgers are really good.  I don't know that I have had anything here but a burger, but the burgers are tasty.  You can't go wrong with the Blue Cheese and Mushroom burger, which I ordered on my last visit.  I asked for it medium well and it was served that way, but was still juicy and yummy.  It came with fries and was a lot of food.  One of my dining companions ordered a different burger and hers came with chips - they were rippled and thick - not your ordinary out of the bag potato chips.  There is a wide variety of sandwiches and other items on the menu.  They have lunch specials during the week, as well.

Cleary's is a typical Irish Pub.  In addition to typical beer selections, they have lots of Michigan beer on tap - Dark Horse, Bell's, Shorts.  I like that.  The service is really friendly and helpful.

There is plenty of parking behind the bar and a rear entrance in addition to the entrance right of M52.  Downtown Chelsea has lots of shopping and restaurants.  Cleary's is definitely worth a stop.

We are frequent patrons of Cleary's.  Food is always good, not just typical bar fare, but on a par with any good restaurant!  Atmosphere is fun and wait staff is always friendly.

Came to Cleary's Pub after a gig in town for Sights and Sounds. One of the locals recommended the place over some of the others in town.

Now, it is a pub so I know it was going to be quite loud. But wow, it was pretty loud in there and hard to hear the company I was with, which is why I gave it three stars.

However the food was fairly decent. The sweet potato fries with the special sauce were delicious. But as I've said in other reviews, I'm a fan of the sweet potato. The food is your usual suspects on a bar menu- burgers, sandwiches and fried entrees. I got the pub sandwich with chicken. The sandwich is smothered in cheese, jalapenos and mushrooms and I quite liked it. I know that some of my group got the portabella sandwich and although they liked it, they wished the mushrooms were whole and not chopped up. The person who got the Guinness burger really enjoyed it and said it was delicious.

I think if you stick to your standard pub fare, you will be happy with this place. If you're coming in here to watch a game, you'll have more than enough tv's to keep your attention, but if you're coming in to catch up on old times you might have a harder time listening to each other.

Really frickin' loud in here.  And I hate House Recipe "Fancy" Ketchup.  Ravioli was bland, but the cherry pepper relish in the steak stromboli was awesome.

Sunday was  the first time in maybe 4years I have been to Cleary's for dinner. The staff was very friendly, the food was quick, but the best part of all was the perfectly cooked Mahi Ruben! I have to go back for more. I think they have made a definite improvement on kitchen staff since my last greasy encounter there! I will be back!

What a happy-making find.  Cleary's Pub is totally unassuming... it looks just like, well, a pub.  But it actually has pretty good food.  Not just that, CREATIVE food.  It's very rare I see a Guinness burger with wasabi mayo.  Okay, actually, I've never seen it anywhere else.  Stuff like that.  Delicious-sounding (and very good -tasting) meals that you won't see anywhere else.

The atmosphere is fine--lots of seating, some music, some TVs.  There was MMA fighting playing on almost all of the TVs; that was a little gross to watch while eating.

Why just a 3?  We weren't WOWed.  We were impressed, and happily surprised to see that creative menu... but it's not like we'll be making special trips to Cleary's.

My boyfriend goes deer hunting out by Chelsea and decided to stop in and try this place a few years ago.  They have the best steak sandwiches and excellent burgers!!  We took a detout on the way home from up north to go here over the week-end.  Very good!!!!

Walking into this place, you wouldn't think you were in for a great meal. Having been there more than once, it now feels more like that cool place that doesn't look like much but always has fantastic food and a good atmosphere.

The wife and I still aren't sure if you wait to be seated or just go grab a table. Place is usually crowded. Park in back.

The specials menu is usually awesome. Wife says they have the best potato skins she has ever had.

Great local place, especially if you want to watch a game. Tons of TVs.

Great pub food coupled with good beer choices make it a nice downtown alternative to upscale place across the street

Once it was the Woodshed, now Cleary's (and has been for many years).  A popular local gathering place, that's exactly what it feels like.  Pull-tabs, lotto tickets at the table, sports on, and family and friends.  The food is decent, the company better.

Chelsea has a lot of little gems, and Cleary's is one of them.

This place has a pretty good atmosphere.  It kind of has an Irish pub theme/sports bar going on.  The food is above average.  It is located in an ideal spot downtown.  The price of food isn't bad but their drinks are a bit over priced for a pub.  It's worth a visit if you're in Chelsea.

Enjoyed. Will go back. Nice and casual. Lake perch was good. Black and tan was great.

This is definitely a pub environment with TVs. Service was great. Plenty for the number of tables. Great bar, lots of choices.

Cleary's is right on the main street in Chelsea. Generally no problem parking and not a bad place to stroll in nice weather. The food overall is pretty good. I would highly recommend the Stuffed Cheesy Bread sticks (as long as you are in to bread sticks stuffed with cheese and dipped in ranch dressing). I very much enjoy the beef nachos and they are reasonably priced. Please note that if you order the chicken variety they will be $2 more. It is a fairly small restaurant, probably 4 booths, 8 tables and the bar. Definitely bar-style food but pretty tasty. My girlfriend recommends the taco salad and the sandwiches are good as well. We generally make a trip there at least once a month from Ann Arbor so for reference is it worth at least a 20-30 minute drive for us. I will say that depending on when you go (weekend, night, etc.) the service is not always the best. We've had it where there was just one or two servers and drink refills were kind of slow. Overall I would definitely recommend you at least give it a try.

Food is good here, but i feel assaulted by television screens on just about every surface. . Imagine sitting down for a meal with spouse and their gaze is grasped by the screen above your head. Then you catch a glimpse of some HDTV morsel and you are entranced. What a lovely meal.

For a "small town" like Chelsea, this place has pretty good atmosphere. It is for sure a family friendly type local restaurant, but infused with some pub-like elements, dimmed lights, etc. There was a mix of families, old-timers, local yokals and for sure some hipsters and yuppies in the mix. The vibe was pretty good. On this visit I wasn't eating, just drinking so i can't review the food. The service was good, I think the owner was in the bar the entire time talking to everyone so that was nice. The beer was cold and the waitress was very friendly so I really can't say a bad word about the trip. I will go back to try the food for sure. If you are swingin through Chelsea stop and give Cleary's a try.

Cleary's Pub in Chelsea is a great place to "Cleary" your mind and relax. In the wonderful quaint small town of Chelsea that is both progressive as well as old fashioned in that friendly old Norman Rockwell-esque way, Cleary's gives you the best of both worlds. Its is a small, dimmly lit Pub with all the charms of an old brick local bar that features the ideal environment for "A burger and a beer." But the burger selection as well as the entire menu is no joke. It has a great selection of items and Nightly specials that are quite tasty and even stimulate the more sophisticated palate. The beer selection is both standard and unique. As a Michigander and lover of Kalamazoo, I know they will always have a couple of Bells Beers on tap. I do wish they had more drink and/or beer specials for a more economical night of spirits, but at least the food items are reasonably priced. Most weekends have entertainment. Local singer/songwriters, or ear friendly Onemanbanders (brown eyed girl anyone?) grace the 2X2 stage for a nice intimate show or back ground music. But if you get a hankering for Cleary's fare on the weekend, get there early or wait till later because the demand for tables is quite high. Belly up at the bar is a great alternative but those stools are scarce as well on a Friday night. That being a good sign of course, you will be greeted by friendly people likely with the last name "Cleary." Enjoy. I do usually once a week.
