You want to know what a bar in Gresham feels like?
Cleary's is where it's at.
The BARTENDER LADIES ARE REALLY NICE and take no guff from the drunks. I watched one of them break up a 11 person fight and drag a girl out by her hair. She walked in and brushed her hands off, came back to the bar and smiled when she asked what she could get me. I should have said, "her number." A girl who can yank a gal's hair the way she did definitely got my gears warmed up.
It's a dive. People are mid-forties and up. Drunk guys don't know what boundaries are. Usually it's country music playing. Nascar/football/basketball frequents the tele screens. THE BEER IS CHEAP. THE FOOD IS TASTY.
If all you read was the capital letters, then that is all that matters at this bar anyways.
Ummm...?  If you have all your teeth, don't have a tramp stamp, and don't want to deal with a pimp wearing a (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor) dreamcoat, I'd suggest you  find another bar approximately....120 blocks west of Cleary's.
I entered this wretched hive of scum and villainy with my clearly gay coworker after a business meeting in Hood River. Â We got a few drinks, eyed the crowd with trepidation, and decided we needed at least one more beverage to deal with this place.
(Gay!) coworker: Â "A Jack on the rocks for me and another IPA for the lady."
Bartender: Â [leans forward conspiratorially] "Relax, guy! Â She's totally into you, I can tell."
Me: Â "GUFFAW."
Why the second star? Â Well, the bartender was rather cute and nice, the drinks were fine, and the bathroom was startlingly clean, given the circumstances.
Three dudes with missing teeth smiled at me on the way out. Â Farewell, friends. Â Farewell.
Warm and surprisingly friendly, they remembered our names the second time we walked in. Â The food is tasty and the prices fair, the bartenders are uniformly friendly and excellent.
The focus is friends and relaxation. Â Not overly loud, not overly crowded and the owner is in almost constantly. Â Pool league on Saturday nights.
We're really not much for bars, but it was so pleasant the first time we went in that we have gone back again and again. Â They do a real nice pork chop dinner for under ten bucks,
