pros: $2 beers?!, nice staff, chill crowd
cons: shady but I love a good bar in a shady town

Went for a friend's birthday.  I remember this plaza b/c I used to do laundry here as a wee lass.  The space hasn't changed.  Lots of poor parking spaces with lighting so dim, it might as well as be midnight at all hours.  As the soft breeze passed through us, we looked up to a oddly lit sign which read "Cocktails, Anyone?"  Sure.  Why not.  It's for a good cause.

Did we order cocktails? Nein.  We opted for beers.  I took out $20 for two beers + tip and lil hope for some cash back (which is customary in LA proper).  Caught the eye of the one bartender with enough metal armor on his leather jacket to defend Thanagar alone.  15 minutes later (there were a LOT of people waiting for drinks) and I'm sipping on my Blue Moon.  I ask for the total.
    $4 bucks, he says.
    What? $4 EACH, right?
    Nope, $4 even.

Quick double, no triple take with friend.  Throw them back as we laugh and give him a better tip than typical.  A few beers and one cocktail later (strong and pricier than beer but worth it).

VDJ rocking visual and audio tracks in the adjacent pool room.  Gotta go back for a bucket of beers and some interesting eye... "candy" or "leftovers" depending on your taste.

I'd never heard of this place until a friend decided to celebrate his birthday here. the surrounding area looks a bit sketchy and you'll probably miss the place if you don't know where exactly it is. the main bar/lounge is pretty small. I noticed there were "reserved" signs on some tables. really? I'm pretty sure (as a friend of mine noted) it was to keep the patrons near the bar to continue drinking. smart, if that was their ploy. eventually, the signs disappeared and everyone was able to enjoy the bright red velvet-like furniture.

so maybe I'm just cheap, but $5 for a bottled Stella?? seems like pricey. I don't know, I guess going to a dive bar I expect dive bar prices, especially for bottled beer. as far as the music, whoa, it was all over the place and not in the greatest way. 3 words: Harlem Shake videos. I know it's all the rage now, but just playing a loop of the track and showing (what I guess were) the top 5 Harlem Shake videos was a bit too much. the music took a sudden turn and all of a sudden I swore I was stuck at a quinceanera. overall, I had a good time with my friends. but I don't have any real desire to come back here, it's just not my bag. I'm giving it 3 stars because I didn't have a terrible time or experience.

**a note to the ladies: beware the girl's restroom. there is NO lock on the door. I learned the hard way. I think my exact words were, "whoa, whoa, whoa! hold on!" so just have a girlfriend guard the door if you decide to use the facilities.

Inexpensive drinks, casual dress, love the new red/dark decor. Pool table and shuffleboard behind the bar. Fab, Fab DJ-Karaoke Host on Wed/Sun.
    Always a good time.

Don't know who the Wednesday night bartender is, but I wish she would put her damn phone away. Unless she knows you buy your drinks to at a time so you don't have to wait so long. Karaoke was great , vibe was great, but bartender was tired.

Well I was hungry one night after leaving work, and texted my friend to inquire about a possible dining option, maybe something along the lines of Taco Tuesday somewhere. She completely disregarded my malnourished voice, my decrepit old geezer walk, and suggested Cocktails Anyone? Luring me in with their Tuesday night $2 drink specials.

Made my way up the 91 and met up with her. The first thing that I found peculiar about this place was its name. I like it, it doesn't try to be what it is not. Sounds humble, and straight to the point.
Once we were inside I noticed the red booths that lined the walls, the artwork hanging reminded me of the rockabilly chicks that used to go to my high school, and how I could never get my hair shiny enough to even get a stare of disapproval from them.
Luckily I have found the perfect demographic of girls that I need to go for: Frail ones from broken homes raised by single mothers, oh and they have to weigh less than me. Path of least resistance.
But my lack of game has no place in this review.

The crowd was mostly younger Hispanic. Didn't get the slightest hint of pretentiousness coming from anyone inside. People just there doing their thing, and enjoying their night, making the best of being on a budget.
Dance floor was pretty empty initially, but did start filling up with clumps of chicas dancing. Never got to full capacity though.
We went up to the bar, she ordered the first round. I had a whiskey coke, and for $2 it cannot be beat. The bartender was pretty generous with his pour, and it managed to get me a little fuzzy. Then again, I was originally dying of starvation so that may have been the reason why I was starting to feel like Danny Zuko, and insisting on racing some other dudes for pinks. I didn't even have my car with me! Ordered two more drinks after that and I was okay for the night. Ended up dropping out of beauty school the following day.

Just another one of your great bars hidden in a shopping center. Right across the street from Anarchy I showed up here when it opened about a month before and the place is already drawing in a great clientele. Bartenders were real cool, music was more rap and hip hop so I do a little dancing and make a couple new friends. Pretty cool indeed.

I don't think this place has lived up to anarchys across the street, but its making its own identity. A bit less crowded, but I do appreciate being able to move freely about a bar, and enjoy having a conversation I can actually hear while I have my drink. They've also got pool tables for those of you that are into that. They got their own thing going here, and the bartenders are good.

There are not much options for getting drunk on budget on a Tuesday in the Bellflower/ Downey vicinity. You could try Anarchy Library if you're willing to put up with the possible episode of claustrophobia, or you could venture over to Maggie's Pub but good luck with the ridiculous line that winds around the building. The Glen is O.K but no two dollar specials. That is why, perhaps by default, Cocktails Anyone is your best bet. Roomy, nice decor, plenty of seating options, inexpensive and for me close enough to stumble home if necessary. The crowd is pretty laid-back, the music is mostly 80s pop and new wave, and the drinks are good for the value (then again I pre-game all the time every time so...). All in all, worth checking out!

Okay so I wasn't so sure when we pulled up to the spot which is located in the back corner of a day, dare I say, deserted shopping center.  The ambiance is dive bar chic, red couches, long bar, window into the shuffleboard room next door.  After literally staying for almost 5 hours I can say I'm a fan! The crew - Larry, Wil and DJ Charlie made the trip a success. The drinks are good, strong enough and affordable. The bathroom is clean and the environment is cool.  I got a picture drawn of "me" by an interesting little lady who felt so compelled by my beauty that she needed to sketch it!  Looked nothing like me but added to the comic relief of the evening.

I would say once more people find this little hidden gem it will be the place to be.  It never got crowded, which to me was a good thing, but if you are going to see and be seen this is not the spot for you. but if you want to drink, hear good music and chill with your friends you couldn't ask for a better spot.

Be sure to ask Wil for the Blue Balls Margarita... its a hit!

This place is brand new so not a lot of people know about it. If I were you, I'd come check it out, enjoy the good music and great drink specials before this place gets crazy. Also, it's right across the street from The Anarchy. $2 Tuesdays!
