Fun dive bar, good food.  Outside bar opens at 9 with live music.  I stop there whenever I'm in the area.

Food was terrible.  They advertise the chicken fried steak as home made, and you expect it to be good.  Tough and chewy, with no real batter coating.  Almost inedible.  The corn was clearly from a can, and the potatoes tasted like they were powdered.  Overpriced, for the quality.  Flies everywhere.  I'd be better off microwaving a hungry man meal myself.

I LOVE this place! The bar is super chill and they have yummy cocktails! The locals are friendly and the scenery is pretty too.

After spending the day at the Marshall Gold Discovery State Park this was the first place we came upon...Being starving we stopped for lunch....
The previous Yelp reviews describing the Coloma Club are almost funny... How can something be a dive and good at the same time?  I'm not a big city person but this place seems to be stuck in a time warp....Old, tired and Chabby Chic would be a good description I guess...We didn't have a bad experience, the burgers were decent... I'll stop there....

Awesome hole-in-the-wall diner!  Very local and friendly. Will be back.

Pulled in for lunch after dropping our son off at the CCC. Over 100 degrees outside and hundreds of motorcycles coming in for a run. We got there before them and were greeted politely and served immediately at the bar. Great staff and homestyle approach. White water rafting right outside the door and down the street. I was more into the ice cold beer inside the air conditioned bar. We will be back.

Excellent way to start a rafting day.

Great prices and good breakfast menu but only served until noon. Lunch and dinner menu is just OK though.

Fun bar after a long day on the river too. Has dance floor and pool table. Small bathrooms.

The wife and I stop here on our Placerville to Lincoln jaunt on the MC.  It gets 4 stars just for not having cell service (ATT).  I love the bar, one big ass tree cut in half, wood stove in the corner, pool tables in the back, and connected to a pretty decent home style kitchen.  We stopped by yesterday and I had the Wammie burger..good stuff, two patties side by side on a french roll, onions, bacon, cheese...very well made.  Wife had a burger also with the soup of the day, a nice bowl of onion soup.  We ended up using the soup as more of a ah jou (sp)..good cold MGD and shot of Jameson and we were on our way.

We will come party here one night when we do a stay over in Placerville.

Breakfasts are pretty good, the food is standard diner fair all day long.  If you want top quality, you might want to eat elsewhere.  The bar is friendly, both staff and patrons.  They really need a better beer selection though, I always have to go with a standard fall back beer like Sierra Nevada Pale or Alaskan Amber.  What can I say, I'm a beer snob.  A great rustic dive bar atmosphere, but it could be cleaner.

The club, like the town is a little seasonally bipolar.

Summer:  The place is packed and people party hard until two in the morning.  They usually have live music both Friday and Saturday.  So many drunk rafters, using the two full bars.

Winter:  Way quieter, and a lot more locals.  Still the latest place open in town.  One bar, but two pool tables instead of one.  Karaoke on the weekends.

A friend and I were on our way home from some Placerville wine indulging on a random Sunday afternoon and were starved, so we stopped here. (Our original intent was Marco's next door, but it was closed). I got a Mexican style burger made with the Gardenburger, fries on the side. It was fine, fairly generous servings, fries were crispy and you cannot argue with the price. My friend got a cheeseburger and she seemed equally impressed. I'd probably come here again. the service was also super nice and attentive, although we were the only people in there. The outdoor seating looked like a great option when it's a bit warmer outside!

The Coloma Club is the quintessential five star dive in El Dorado County. Believe me, there's plenty of competition. Yeah, location counts. The So Fork American is The River, The Place historically and currently.
Here's what's best about The Coloma Club: Gritty locals, visiting rafters, hipsters and whitewater guides from all over, loud-and-lousy rock n roll on hot summer nights and cowboy potatoes on Sunday morning.

I visited this place for breakfast the morning after camping in Coloma. You have no idea how excited I was when I saw they had Biscuits and Gravy on the menu. I am from the south and can hardly find biscuits and gravy on a California menu and better yet, IT WAS GREAT and it was HUGE, I couldn't even finish eating it, so I took it home and had the rest for breakfast the next day.

The waitress was nice and even warned me about the amount of food I was going to order in addition to the biscuits and gravy! Thank goodness she warned me!

I would drive back from Sacramento to have it again next time I am craving biscuits and gravy :)

PS. I loved the sign that said BEWARE OF THE ATTACK WAITRESS!

Pretty decent little place! Valorie is a GEM!

My 8th grade class reunion was hosted here over the weekend. We had the back outside area and bar mainly to ourselves.

The food was good enough but maybe a tad over cooked and under seasoned, but hit the spot. The drinks were tall and ice cold.

Definitely seems more like a locals only type place, but this city slicker did just fine.

So, I DO like "low down, dirty" bars, but Coloma Club has really not got the best atmosphere.

The bartenders are surly, the clientelle is clicky and unfriendly, and the drinks are overpriced.  The pool table tilts to one side (badly).

HOWEVER, the redeeming features are that they have a dependably reasonably decent breakfast, and the backyard is fun in the summers.

What a great start to a great day! My boss at work took our team on a White Water Rafting trip this summer. The meet-up spot at 7 AM was Coloma Club for breakfast. Big hearty portions of all your breakfast favorites. Good service. Lot's of coffee refills.

I am bummed we don't get to drink and party in the bar; it appears to be a happening spot.

Coloma Club is the quintessential northern California experience. Hipsters and rafters and mustache rides, out door patio and river gravel on the floor. There was a 5 year old checking IDs at the door with mom and making cute drawings on your wrist for re-entry.

1 drink was 5 dollars, 5 drinks were $13.50. I have no idea how that works, but it did worked for me.

Service was overwhelmed easily and was at times very slow. That may have been the only thing that kept me sober enough to find my campsite that night.

Some people like dinner and a movie. Others dig dinner theater. Me, I prefer history and a dinner. One of the very best places in the world to get this is the Coloma Club.

In late 1847, James Marshall, partner of John Sutter, began excavating and forming the channel that would feed water from the American River to the local sawmill. However, because of safety concerns for the men working on the actual mill during the day, the excavating work was done mostly at night, with Marshall surveying the previous night's completion in the morning.

On January 24, 1848 Marshall, examining the previous night's work, noticed something shining in the water. The shining thing turned out to be gold, and thus the local, Californian, and world history took a brand new direction.

Just downstream from the humble sawmill, the boomtown of Coloma was born- the first gold-rush mining town in the state and region.  But just like most Californian boomtowns, once the gold ran out, so did the people. Where at its height, the population numbered in the thousands, these days it hovers around two hundred- spread out over a very wide area. Most of the remnants of Coloma, along with what remains of the original sawmill, are part of the Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park. Outside the park boundaries, one can find various buildings, mostly residences from this period scattered around. One of which is the historic Coloma Club.

During the area's historical period, this building was once a hotel and inn. Today, the rooms for weary travelers are gone, with a saloon and restaurant occupying the space. Where once the main patrons were fortune seekers, prospectors and miners, now they are locals, bikers, rafters, campers, hikers, and tourists.

Not much can really be said of the bar area, it's a typical bar with reasonable prices. However, it does have a lot of history saturated into the walls. Quite easily, one can envision gold-seekers trading nuggets and flakes for shots and beer, as poker games are played in the back area. It's also good if you're looking for conversation on the area, local perspective of history, and obscure places to visit.

Of the restaurant, the food is average no-frills American cuisine, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Nothing fancy will be written up in the pages of Bon Appetite or Culinary Snob Quarterly. But frankly, if you're partaking in some of the area's outdoor activities, or even just doing a daytrip to the park, foi gras in a truffle sauce that can be consumed in a single bite (and costing the price of a tank of gas) definitely isn't going to cut it. So I suggest leaving your foodie sensibilities in the car (windows rolled up if it's a particularly hot day), and enjoy an omelet/chicken-fried steak/burgers-fries-coke. During special events and summer, the backyard BBQs will be lit up, and delicious down-home meals of tri-tip and/or chicken will be served.  Highly recommended.

During the warmer months, especially during late spring, the outdoor enclosed patio is especially enjoyable, especially if you're on a date of sorts. During this time, the hummingbirds, deer, and other wildlife will make their appearance. And while you stand no chance in hell of getting near them, they are awe-inspiring and quite romantic when enjoying a meal after (or before) a day in gold country.

The Coloma Club, being the only proverbial game in town has the possibility of doing all the wrong things so many remote places do- low-quality of food, high prices, or a take-it-or-leave attitude. It's quite refreshing that they don't- that they choose to make their profit the old-fashioned way: earning it with honest service, and food & drink at an honest price. What more could you ask for?

Right on Hwy 49 on the bank of the American River, you'll find this old dive that draws a crowd of some of the most eclectic group of individuals.
Though a local hangout, it draws quite a bit of the tourist crowd that visit the National Park, "Sutters Mill," and the little town that was put on the map back in 1849 when gold was first discovered in California. I have a small winery up in the area and I visit this little dive each and every time I come up. Good burgers, cold beer by the pitcher and that local flavor is hard to pass up. For a more elegant night out, visit Sequoia up 49 about 10 miles.

I just had a big ol review written but accidentally hit the back button on my mouse and lost it.
I will just give it 5 stars and come back to clarify at a later date.
yelp get's a 1 star for not caching your review :(

Alright, here goes, Bar/Restaraunt in an old building along Hwy 49. As mentioned before it can be a bit intimidating if you've never been but rest assured it is a good natured place... most of the time. It's a local hangout that believe it or not IS conducive to bikers, hippies and rednecks all in the place at the same time! (hip hoppers and yuppies eh, not so much.)

During the summer and especially on Friday and Saturday nights this place can really go off. Coloma is a rafting community and you get a lot of out of towners camping along the river while on two day rafting trips or just enjoying the area. The Coloma Club is the place these people loosen up and enjoy socializing with each other and the locals during their downtime. Music on the weekends is good and varied, anything from Reggae, Classic Rock, Jazz, Funk to any combination thereof can be found on any given weekend and there is a decent sized dance floor to get your groove on.

There is also a restaraunt seperate  from the bar, I can't speak to the dinner but lunch is decent with a good selection of burgers and sandwiches. Breakfast is on the greasy side and best experienced along side a Bloody Mary after waking up to the summer sun amongst the weeds along the banks of the river after a night of too much fun. Not a hit against, rather a plus.
Seriously, this place is one of a kind and highly recommended. Friday and Saturday night during the warm weather is a one of a kind experience due to the out of towners down to have a good time direcelty along side to the local fun loving river people and rowdies that are ALWAYS dizown to have a good time.

If you come from out of town don't drive home. There is no easy way out of the club,  stay the night somewhere or  hook up with a local ;)and have fun.

This can be an intimidating place at first, but after 2 seconds, people you don't know are buying you drinks and more drinks and shots and everything's chilllll.   And then you start buying people you don't know drinks and more drinks and shots...I don't think I talked so much at a bar ev-ar!

A great mix of locals, bikers, hippies, guides, rafters, lots of cute people hanging out and having fun.  I was there as a rafter and what else are you going to do while camping walking distance to a bar?  I guess you can buy people drinks!  They had a great live band, a small dance floor which we shook a rug on.  There are actually two bars and a pool table.  One bar is the main bar and one in back where there is a back deck and large open backyard and a ping pong table to play while a little bit tipsy.  This is a great place to hang out if your rafting or if just passing through!
