I've been to the Comedy Club a number of times in the past few years. I have yet to have anything less than an awesome experience (partially because Chris L. and I have a similar taste in comedy) but also because of good service, comfortable seating arrangements (not too close together), great opening comics, great deals, and an average bar food selection from the conjoined Daisy Dukes bar.

When we go, we have a great time, enjoy the show and sometimes get a drink to help support the club. I've had a few of the food offerings in the past (including a chicken quesadilla and Chicken caesar salad, both of which were served in generous portions and tasty.) I'm also a fan of the Rodney Dangerfield cocktail - don't remember what it is but it's at the top of their drink list, which is where it belongs!

They sometimes offer free comedy show tickets but for a club that does a great job and brings in some big names, we like to invite friends to use the free tickets because a place like this is worth paying for.

I had the pleasure of seeing Patrice O' Neal (RIP), Jim Norton, Bobby Kelly, Doug Stanhope, Nick DiPalo, and Joe DeRosa. I look forward to visiting again and supporting even more excellent comics!

The Comedy Club is neither the most original name FOR a comedy club nor the most original comedy club itself. I remember when Comix Cafe (same owner) use to give away a lot of free tickets and I don't think I ever paid to go to a show there. When they closed down their Brighton location and moved to Webster that practice stopped and I had not been to their new spot till last week. The experience was some what bitter sweet for me and there were a lot of hot and cold moments. First, you have to drive all the way out to Webster, it's not the other side of the moon but can take 30 minutes and thats from the city, any of the southern or western suburbs and you might double that. An hour there and an hour back would definitely NOT be worth it.

We got there to find out that this comedy club is in the middle of a Country and Western bar. Now I was fine with that but I can imagine it not being everybody's scene. We paid the $12 to get and were directed to our seats. There was probably about 30 people there for the show with my crowd being about 7 people. There were 3 warm up comedians and then the headliner who works as a radio personality on the Brother Wease show. The first comic was ok but kind of did the "fat/black" comic shtick. It just seems kind of over done these days in comedy. The second was a guy who kind of did a " short/italian schtick." This guy bombed, 1 lady laughed at two of his jokes and she was kind of drunk. The third warm up guy was pretty funny and I would definitely go to one of his shows.  Our headliner was a comic who had lived in LA for a while and has been on VH1 and several other things as well. She was was funny and got the crowd laughing. We were there for about 2 hours so it goes on par with going and seeing a movie on a weekend night price wise.

None of us ordered the food but we did get drinks, the wine was affordable something like $12 for a bottle of Footprints. The real deal was the $12 bottomless beer. Only bud or bud light but I probably had 9 or so. So when looking at it that way, 9 beers and a 2 hour show for $24, well thats quite a bit more reasonable =).

I'm a big stand up comedy fan and The Comedy Club is the only place in Rochester I go to get my fix. For a relatively small city like Rochester, the club gets a solid selection of name brand comedians including a bunch of regulars on the Opie and Anthony Show (Jim Norton, Rich Vos, Bobby Kelly, Joe DeRosa, Jim Florentine) which appeals to me directly. I just saw Rich Vos last Thursday (fantastic crowd work as usual) and will be coming back to the club Wednesday to see Doug Stanhope who is on a east coast swing.

The crowds are usually engaged in the shows and the comedians I follow seem to think the crowds are rock solid. Tickets are very fairly priced especially considering the quality of the comedians we get and I'll continue to be a regular as long as they are around!

Make sure to keep an eye on their schedule on the website to see who is coming into town over the next few months. They do change every so often when they get a new act so check in so you don't miss an act you want to see.
