The name says it all - Community Market. Â Not a supermarket but a friendly place where you can get what you need.
I have been using CM for many, many years since my parents would send me to pick up an item or two. Â As early teens I would ride my bike with local kids & stop in to get a coke or other cold drink.
No matter what you nerd, they will have it, maybe not in your favorite brand or size, but something that will work. I have always been impressed with the deli section and meats. Â A real butcher on site! Â At various times you can find some outstanding specials. Â The prices on these items are often better than the large chain markets. Â The only reason I do not give 5 stars on this rating is the cost of some canned foods and dry goods which tend to be a little higher than the big boys.
I am not a full time resident here but have been a "permanent part-timer" all my life and will use CM as long as they are open.
The prices are more expensive in town, but the location is very convienient :) They always have some kind of special on the butchered meats... Whole cut up fryers are usually 3-4 bucks. Â Also a great place to stop by for lunch for some of their amazing hot foods. Â But if you need canned goods, processed foods, veggies or condiments; I would go to stater bros or vons. Â Those things are just too expensive here.
Review Source:The second I walked into Community Markets, I was hit by a warm, welcoming aroma of fried chicken. It was actually a bit overwhelming and I forgot what I went into the market to buy and walked straight to the hot foods section instead. They had a huge variety of food: fried chicken, pizza, rotisserie chicken, and jalapeno poppers! Everything smelled so good! Didn't personally try the food, but it seems like a good place to pick up food if you're in a hurry.
Aftter feasting my eyes and realizing i already ate, I remembered what I came into buy and headed straight for..... ALCOHOL! They have a pretty big selection of beers and wines, including a seasonal pumpkin spice Shocktop that intrigued me, but not enough for me to pick up.
I beeline-d over to the hard alcohol section after choosing my beers.... And was taken aback by the prices! Â $40 for a medium flask of Hennessy! Buy your hard alcohol elsewhere.
They had a nice variety of household staples and snacks and friendly service. Super cozy market.
I have been coming to Community Markets for years. Every time I have rented the same cabin at Big Bear, we always walk to Community Markets to pick up any essentials.
They have a great variety of just about everything. Eggs, meat, ice cream, snacks, and their own food as well. I have tried some of their chicken and cookies and they were both fairly decent.
You can use your card here and they also have booze. BOOZE!!!! It's not hard to notice the booze, especially when an older lady gives you the eye whilst buying her own little bottle of vodka.... Awkward!! Community Markets is your one stop shop for your essentials, albeit for slightly more expensive prices, but you can't complain, especially with the wide variety of choices in such a small space and the friendly smiles =). If the smiles don't look like the one I lazily just did, then don't sue please.
It's not a supermaket so don't expect that going there. Â
They have a hot section with baked chicken, fried chicken, pizza slices, etc, a deli section with some cheese they will slice for you and a few salads. Â in the back they have a vegetable section and a pretty big meat section. Â Apparently the sausage there is home-made (it looks like ground beef). Â Bought some and can't wait to eat it cooked with eggs and in some soup!
They have a few rows of cereals, snacks, cup noodles, pasta, canned goods, etc etc.
It's a town market and they really try hard to carry a little bit of everything.
They have two registers to ring you up, and you wont wait more than a few minutes to get out of the door.
Community market is the type of store your kids will remember from their child hood, it just has that cozy memory feeling.
The food is a little pricy, but their spice chicken is to DIE for. Its really all the basics, without having to stand in a huge line.
And lotto tickets if your feeling lucky!
A really fine selection of stuff, and very convenient to reach from our place in Erwin Lake. They even have some pre-marinated meats that are quite good. The produce is always fresh, and they even have a good selection of frozen goods and ice cream.
I still do most of our marketing at Stater Bros in Big Bear Lake, but Community Market is a great place to have around when my shopping list is relatively short.
Forget about waiting in lines!!! This place is a great one stop shop. They stock everything you could possibly need for a nice stay up in a cabin. They have fresh produce, steaks, chicken and all the sides if you feel like cooking. Charcoal if you want to fire up the grill. Not in the mood to cook? No worries the deli is a full service type and they have some great hot foods like kabobs, Ribs, corndogs and meatloaf. The breakfast burritos are the bomb and they only cost like $2.50 a piece. What I like most is that the price is not bad at all on everything and they are fully stocked in the liquor dept. They also have souvenirs so you can pick up a shot glass for that someone special back home, I did. So weather you need to stock up on firewood, beer or steaks you will be in and out of here in no time at all.
