Conestoga Restaurant & Lounge

Let's face it.  Astoria is farther from Portland than you might think and it's easy to get peckish and parched on the way.   The Conestoga is a cheery and clean place to stop just off Highway 30 in Clatskanie.  A wide selection of burgers and sandwiches for lunch cooked in an open kitchen along the side of the restaurant.  The owner is welcoming and proud of her place - as she should be.  I'll return for the mushroom burger served with gravy!

I was at the Conestoga about a year ago and it was about a 2, food wise. The decor needs major work but thats not why you go there. Someone bought it very recently and changed up the menu. Last night we took the kids and some friends out for burgers. I was SHOCKED when my bleu cheese burger was delicious! Seriously, there are  not a lot of choices out here so when something as simple as a burger can be done right, its a big deal. The kitchen is open style so you can see them cooking, and the cleanliness. I love that.
