A nice little downtown sports pub. This place has the Pac-12 network, so it's one of the few places where one can watch the Ducks and Beavers when their games are on that network. And during those games, you'll have a good crowd. The HD is connected correctly, so the picture is clear, and you actually have a couple of sofas, for extra comfort. Their greasy options (onion rings, fried pickles, fish & chips) are also really good.
Review Source:I am quite the fan.
Oh, and props to the Yelp app for connecting me to this bar.
I'm in town only for a couple days and needed a sure fire bar for the duration.
While the inside is actually quite disparate it makes sense once you think about what is happening. Â There seems to be like a dining area. Â There there are miniature living rooms scattered throughout. Â Then there is the bar area. The there is like a game room area...toss in the bathrooms and a kitchen and you get it...it a fucking house but, in a bar.
Oh with a elevated model train that circumnavigates the establishment. Â Yeah, a fucking train. Â Awesome.
Getting to the actual real reason why you want to be there... bartender and service are great. Local regulars are chatty and in a good mood. And, their tap beer selection is pretty damn good. Â You'll find a couple regulars of the mass produced beers but they offer up some harder to find solid Oregon brews too as well as some other craft beers. Â Just pretty solid.
Full bar and decent enough wine.
Decent enough food.
If I lived in Coos Bay I'd be here for sporting events and totally bogart one of the mini-living rooms with my friends. Â They, are, amazing.
If a local and haven't stopped by...you should like it. Â If you're swinging through you'll love it.
Great place to hang out with friends. It has that neighborhood bar/lounge feel to it. 2 pool tables. Big screen TVs everywhere so folks do not miss the Ducks Games. (I think right now its the only bar in coos bay with pac 12 making it the only bar where you can see the Ducks play). Great bar food. I love the hand dipped beer battered chicken strip basket! Very generous servings! Many microbrews to chhose from and great staff!
Review Source:Fish and Chips are as good as it gets. Â Servings are huge with fun bar foods like deep fried Macaroni and Cheese, Fried Pickles. and many more... Â Everything I've had here has been delicious. Â Huge building with family friendly tables to sofa's in the bar. Â Really good food and a fun casual atmosphere.
Review Source:We went here for a late lunch based on the recommendations of Yelp and did not leave disappointed!
The business is actually classified as a lounge, but felt like a warm diner/restaurant. My wife had the fish and chips and wow, it was a huge plate! She loved every bite, but couldn't eat half of what she received! I had the French Dip and was very please as well!! The prices are very fair too!
Sandy had us feeling like we were family before we left the place!!
Overall, great down home cookin, and the kind of place that you feel welcome and happy!!
Sandy and Coney station made us feel like we were visiting family, not just passing through. My wife and I were making our way down the 101 and wanted to find a good place to eat before camping down in Bullard SB. Coos Bay was the last town before the campsite, so we checked Yelp for the skinny. We tentatively chose Coney Station. Looking at the place, it seemed more of a dive bar than restaurant, but as soon as Sandy sat us down all of our worries disappeared. The Mrs. had the cheese burger and it tasted like home cooking, hand formed patty and all. Sandy recommended the calamari basket. I figured even bland bar-food calamari is pretty good, so I gave it a shot. Boy howdy, those were just about the best calamari strips I've ever had. I've been to plenty of good seafood places and they might have seasoned them better than Coney's, but they weren't cooked as tenderly than Coney's. These pieces were think but not rubbery, and the batter nice and crispy. The food and the people at Coney Station made this dive-like eatery a pleasant surprise.
Review Source:Ambiance is basically a sports bar. You have to just own that if you go. Don't expect a typical family restaurant.
We had fish and chips and prawn baskets. I thought the 4 pieces of hand battered Ling Cod was great, my wife thought it was heavy on the batter.
Sadly there were only four prawns on that order which disappointed  me. Seems like 6 would be a better number even if it cost a bit more.
Our fries were piping hot and I loved the Cole Slaw!
When it comes to fish and chips though we couldn't give Coney's better than an average grade.
Crazy how this place has Prime Rib on their regular menu, yet it was the thinnest cut I've ever seen. Â I was embarrassed for the owner. Â The cook had of wonderred if it should have been served or not. Â They could have gotten at least four stars by saying they sold out of prime rib last night. Â The side of pasta was tasteless, I really think they forgot the sauce and/or seasoning.
Everything else was good, but I just can't go back for the reason they chose to serve us that wimpy cut of what was supposed to be 10 ounce prime rib. Â I'd like to think it was a one time mess up.
The sauteed shrimp, clam chowder, salad, baked potatoes were very good.  The bar had three different sports on  the TVs, and the whole place is lively.  The waiters/waitresses were very nice, helpful and pleasant. Â
I was really hoping to have a better experience. Â The waitress could have made this a great night by looking at the prepared meal and then telling us they ran out.
If you are restuarant owner and you are reading this...help your business by learning from this stupid mistake.
This place was pretty good. I felt a little out of place tho. This is As much of a bar as it is a restaurant. When we came in they had some loud music on but never heard another song after.
The food was AWESOME. The fish and chicken are done in their own batter that is to die for. They gave a Ton of food and the pieces of fish and chicken were huge.
The only reason I give them 4 stars is because I ordered a margarita and it had crap floating in it, that i'm pretty sure wasn't lime.
Very interesting place! There is a lot of room here, several good beers on tap, and a great menu with very good burgers and great fish and chips!
The front of the place is the bar area, with tables. The middle section has pool tables and some seating. The rear section has tables and couches and is huge.
We showed up to have fish and chips after a long day at a sporting event, and the reviews looked good so we stopped in and asked if minors were allowed. Our host (who I think was the owner) showed us the back family area and said that it was reserved in about an hour, but that we were welcome to dine until then.
They're very proud of their hamburgers, which are prepared there with good beef. I had ling cod fish and chips and an oyster shooter. My kids had chicken strips. Everything was very very good and the service was excellent.
I'd like to go back and sit in the bar next time I don't have kiddos with me.
This is the best place to grab lunch or dinner in Coos Bay hands down! I am here visiting for a few weeks from Canada, and as usual I pulled up good ol Yelp to help me find the places to get some good meals. Coney Station does not let you down.
I saw the photo on yelp of the Chef salad, so I gave it a try myself. It was HUGE and most importantly the lettuce was fresh and crisp. They do not skimp on the turkey, ham cheese! Delicious!
I also enjoyed the root beer. It was not watered down at all and I believe the owner told me it was Mugg root beer. Very nice.
My brother who was with me enjoyed his meal as well. I think he got a Philly Melt with some rather large wedge cut fries. He said he could have ate half and been full, but didn't want to stop as it was so good.
I also loved the seats located close to the windows. It let lots of light in and it was relaxing to eat and watch the cars driving by.
Service was fast...food was good...servers were friendly. What more can you ask for? I will be back for sure.
I told the server I found them on yelp and they  had no idea that they were reviewed on this site. I think they will be watching now. =)
Good job Coney Station....Coos Bay is lucky to have you!
A very large bar/family restaurant, more the former than the latter. The decor is very ecclectic, a sofa, scattered tables, tvs, a pool table, video games, juke box, and a toy train running along the edge of the room in the bar area.
The menu is standard bar fare, somewhat limited, and pricey. I opted for the chef salad ($10.95) and ling cod fish and chips ($8.95?). The chef salad was large, but not $11 large. It was a plain chef salad, nothing special about it at all. The fish and chips were better. Four large pieces of ling cod on a bed of large cut fries with cole slaw on the side. The ling cod was flaky, firm, and mild. There wasn't too much breading on the fish and they weren't oily. The tartar sauce was decent, heavy on the dill and not too rich. The fries came seasoned and salted, way too much salt though. It really took away from the fish. The cole slaw was bad, large amounts of bitter red cabbage made it a loser in my book. Limited condiments for the fish and chips though, no malt vinegar or even lemon.
Service was good, the one waitress/bartender kept my ice tea filled while waiting several other tables. The bill with tip came out to $25. I think my co-workers said it best when she said, "it is a better drinking than eating place".
Definitely a good restaurant! Â We've been here several times. Â They have good burgers, their selection of beer is excellent. Â A few times, the service has been less than amazing, but in general service is pretty good.
The first time we went in, I wasn't that hungry so after looking at the menu, I ordered the chicken strip basket because I assumed it would be small and somewhat bland, which was about all I was up to at the moment. Â I was very wrong! Â It was delicious! Â The chicken was moist, tender and flavorful. Â It was a large portion size. Â And it is pretty good when warmed up again the next day! Â Now I get that almost every time. Â I've never liked chicken strips before, but that has ended up becoming my favorite dish here.
I love this place! Â Lots of regulars, but not so much so that you feel out of place. Â Great variety of patrons, so people of all types fit in. Â
The previously mentioned beer sampler is pretty rad, as they have a great selection of microbrews & seasonal beers. Â The burgers are huge, and the fresh-cut fries are delicious.
Pool tables +  a  bunch of TVs with a gazillion channels + a sofa + a jukebox that doesn't suck = FUN!
I didn't quite realize that I gave them 4 stars on my original review.
This place deserves 5 stars for sure.
I stopped by on a business trip and had lunch. Â I ordered the mushroom and bacon burger. Â Where most restaurants serve up a 1/4 lb patty, The Coney's burgers come as a 1/2 lb. Â Â Large burgers with fresh, tasty toppings...lots of cheese, mushrooms....It was damn good.
I recommend coming to the coney for lunch or dinner, and most definitely for a good time!
5 stars because it's great for what it is. Â We were just wandering around town and stopped in for a drink - ended up with a beer sampler for each of us, and really enjoyed the Coney. Â Sandy was super cool, helped us pick out our beers and checked up on us often.
Not much to say, other than this place is good at what it is... a basic, fun bar. Â I'd definitely go back!
Sandy is the cream of the crop and made us feel like we came into her house.Wow what a personality, and the fried food and burgers were great. They use some sort of beer batter and it really has a crunchy, tasty effect on all the fried food offered. Our order was for a large party of nine (9) and we were hungry. So we proceeded to order the following:
Oyster shooters
Pickle chips fried
Onion rings
Calamari (giant hand cut not puny little ring)
French dip beef sandwich
Fish n chips (massive quantity of fried cod)
Bacon mushroom burger (hand formed and delicious) touch well done for me.
Chef salad (loaded with goodies)
Shrimp salad (lots of bay shrimp)
After finishing lunch we played pool and drank shots, nice afternoon while we waited for my bike to be repaired. Sandy even bought me a shot of tequila.
Next time in Coos Bay Coney's is a sure stop.
I have only been there once around Christmas time, but have fully intended to go again.  The female bar tender was very cordial and served my husband and I at a table near the TV and the front windows.  The holiday decor was great!  The food was good, but the main reason we went there was because it looked  different than other places in the area.  It just has a great atmosphere for relaxing and feeling welcome.  Sort of like you could just relax and visit with your friends or date. It was  like getting away from everything for a little while.
Review Source:Yes, the Coney Station is a great place to hang out and even eat. Â They really do make an effort to have a variety of food in addition to being a full on bar. Â
As for food, I wish they still had garden burgers, salads are primarily iceberg lettuce, and I dislike the difficulty I sometimes have finding something non greasy - BUT, they have great nachoes, garlic bread & clam chowder, and make great mixed drinks. Â
Decor - TV's all over the place, jukebox, 2 pool tables, multiple couches, an antique toy train "station" (track) that circles around at ceiling level, and plenty of plants and other unique pieces of decor to give it a unique feel. Â Very cool.
It scores it's 5 stars because of the great atmosphere and attentive wait staff/bartenders. Â It's versatility allows it to be a great place to go for afternoon lunch, OR late night festivities. Â They even have a banquet room in the back for special functions. Â The couches are a really comfy place to hang out and drink with your friends and/or watch TV, and it's a younger crowd mostly... lot of coasties hang out there as well. Â Unlike the Blue Moon, I feel pretty damn safe here. Â
Cozy, fun and safe atmosphere, along with a decent menu has definitely made this place one of my favorites over the years!
My traveling companion and I were starving one night while driving through Oregon and couldn't bare to eat at another fast food restaurant, so we took a chance and sampled 'the Station."
We were seated right away by a very cordial bartender. She brought us some "Guinness" and took our order. There was a 6ft "old timey" street lamp in the middle of our table and there were also a few comfy couches and pool tables. The decor was fascinating. The outside looked like an "old west" saloon in an early 1900's port city and the inside resembled a fraternity house rumpus room slash pub.
Decor aside, I had one of the best med-rare burgers since moving to the west coast. When I bit into it I could tell it was fresh ground beef and was later assured by our waitress, it was. The cook looked like he had spent the previous night in jail but damn if he didn't cook one tasty burger.
The price was definitely right. Good food and friendly people. It's safe to eat here. Cheers!
