My husband and I found this cute little spot during one of our wedding venue shopping trips. The place is so charming, we decided to have our rehearsal dinner here. The ambiance of the restaurant is romantic and intimate, exactly what we were looking for. They gave us a separate room overlooking the garden to have our dinner party which was amazing. The food was good, and the price was great. I'd def recommend this place for anyone thinking of having a rehearsal dinner in the area.

I recently went to the cooperage inn for the first time with a group of friends.  I was extremely pleased with both the quality of the food and the hospitality that the staff portrayed. Especially John Bauer the chef, whom has extreme talent and charm! I had a great time and the Cooperage Inn has a great family environment. I will definitely be returning with my family to have great food once more:)!

So so good!!  I went here on a Friday at 1:30pm with my whole family.  The table was waiting for us and the service was great.  Started with wine, which their wine menu is great lots of local.  Also, good amount of beer.  I ordered the Maryland Crab Cake wrap with salad.  That was hands down delicious!  Great size and the crab cakes were so fresh.  Some people did the lunch prix fixe (21.50 or 24.5)  Apps, someone got he chicken spring rolls which were amazing.  Baked inside the crust of an Italian bread shaped like an egg roll, asian peanut sauce delicious.  Someone else got the crab cake and others got the fresh mozz which was very fresh.

Entrees, a few people go the steak and said it was cooked perfect.  Someone got the salmon and the piece was huge and they loved it.   One person ordered grilled chicken which they said was very healthy and tasty.  A chicken cobb wrap was ordered, which was tasty and the last person got the chicken pot pie which was creamy and seasoned great.

Desserts, someone did the flourless chocolate cake, very good, someone else ice cream and coconut cream pie.  The last person ordered the rice pudding which was the only bad thing ordered!  The rice was hard and not creamy, either under or over cooked.

I will be returned back here that is a definite!

and the inside of the place is homey and charming

Food and service here are always excellent. Have been coming here for years and have never been disappointed. The portions are very generous and food is always cooked perfectly. Doesn't matter if it's just my husband and I or we go with a group of friends, everyone is always pleased with their meal and there is something for everyone on the menu.

We received a gift card here for Christmas and were surprised that we've never heard of this place because we live so close. When we first walked in, we noticed right away that we were the youngest couple in there but weren't afraid. It was a cozy inn with old fashioned decor and friendly staff. Our appetizers were very good! We ordered the spring rolls and mozzarella. They were fresh and tasty! I also had a glass of their recommended Riesling, which was very good. I wish I remembered the vineyard they got it from. Our entrees were very large portions but did not taste very fresh. My honey had the rib eye, which was very chewy and mostly fat. I had the potato crusted fluke with banana. Yes -the combo sounds weird, but it was promised to be a very good combination. The crust on my fish was soggy and tasteless. The banana was brown and mushy. Our dessert was just okay .. nothing special ... a cappuccino brownie that tasted nothing like coffee. It was just overly sweet and mushy. Our dinner came to over $160, so it definitely is not a cheap place. The wait staff were spot on, fast, friendly, and efficient.

That night when I got home, I became very sick. I was thinking it may have been the fish and contacted the restaurant right away to let them know and to prevent any additional patrons from being sick. They promised that the fluke was caught that day and the fish was still fresh. They ended up sending us a gift card in the mail, which was unnecessary but thoughtful.

If we do come back - we may just try the pub area and have some burgers. Not sure that we will be back here for any dinner service. The reviews on here mention that their brunch is delicious ... might be worth a try.

i love cooperage inn! I have been coming here for years. Lets start with the staff; all the staff are really nice and attentive, empty dishes are cleared promptly. The brunch is excellent if your in the area and has a omelet station, hot plate section, bread section, desert section and a meat carving station. The lamb chop entree is always perfectly cooked no matter what the wellness you prefer. I have ate here 10-15 times and hhave never had a bad meal from here. Five stars all the way

The overall food I would actually give 4 stars.  However, for starters I got there on a Sunday around 12 o'clock. We had a reservation for 12:15, we did get there 15 minutes ahead of time and was told we had to wait about 5 to 10 minutes.  The host/hostess were completely unorganized and actually kind of rude. I don't mind waiting, esp since we were early, however I do mind with several tables open in both dining rooms! They kept checking the computer but didn't know what was actually open in the dining rooms.

Our waitress was sweet and attentive and the food was good.  Average if not better than average for Sunday buffet brunch.  Eggs Benedict, Omelet Station, Penne Ala Vodka, Turkey Carving Station, Pecan Pie etc etc for $25 not bad, however nothing blew me away really.

As the brunch went on the tables around us seemed to actually be empty however there was a wait at the front door.  At one time I heard the hostess tell someone "I told you not to follow me, I needed to check on the table"...rude.

I would go back, but hopefully they do some more training with the open table system....

A customer of mine recommended this place (he's a local) when I mentioned I was heading to the North Fork on vacation.  Glad that he did!  In an overpriced part of the country, the Cooperage Inn didn't make me feel fleeced.

They have a nice wine menu - plenty of beer on tap.  I like that they offered some "smaller portion" dinners - perfect for the light eaters among us.  Bread was delicious - side salads were monstrous and the dressings were clearly homemade.  Entrees were decent...my husband got the catch of the day (which he really liked) and I had the chicken francesce (which was a step above passable, but having filled up on salad, bread & wine, anything above passable was good).  Mashed potato, baked potato & the veggies were amazing (the sugar snap peas were so fresh & crisp...yum!)  At this point, I don't remember what we got for dessert - just remember that we didn't probably need it and it wasn't the most amazing thing I've ever had.

Live music on the weekends...nice, cozy atmosphere...friendly staff.  We'd definitely come back if we were in the area.

Dinner for less than $80 for two for drinks, bread, salad, two entrees & dessert.  Not so shabby.

Since I do not SPIT out wine I was feeling a little tipsy and overheated on my trip to Northfork so I got out the old yelp app to find a place with food and not just cheese.
Stumbled in here literally and had some lunch. Being tipsy makes you do crazy things like order a $16 shrimp cocktail that comes with 4 shrimps. There was no lunch menu to be seen so we ordered entrees at about $15 a pop. A salad and chicken. The oil vinegar container had a mosquito in it. Again having been drinking I didnt care but now that I reflect back.....hmmmm... so for $60 there you have it lunch.
Long story short I think its a little pricey for what they offer, but they are from what I can tell the only real restaurant around (walking distance) so there you have it.

If you do not miss the small sings to this lovely place, then I can say you will enjoy your dining experience.   My friends and I love finding our next brunch spot! This place has an old country charm.  The buffet had a variety that extended from sweets to pasta, for BRUNCH?! lol There will be a dish for you! The patrons vary from families, elderly, couples, tourists.
Once we spotted our table, we asked if we could be moved to a section with less children. Cute kids but for brunch to deal with screaming kids that are not related to you?! what for! lol Not even the mimosas could alleviate that mess. The waitress was happy to relocate our group. Glad this place has section rather than a big open space. Regardless of where you are sitting, you will fee like you are in your own little corner.

An absolute favorite of mine. I have literally never had one issue here. The place itself is a charming bucolic inn. The food is consistently excellent, the service is impeccable, and the prices are reasonable for the quality and quantity of what you get. They also throughout the year offer events here such as fall fest which are well executed. There is a tap room with a good selection of beers.

Happy Hour can take place anywhere, spontaneously. However, finding just the right pub, eatery or both that offer a truly worthwhile Happy Hour is not common on the North Fork. The Cooperage Inn is the perfect local jaunt for "Happy Apps" (half price) as Kat, our very personable bartender calls them, as well as artisan choice brews on tap for just five bucks.

This traditional, homestyle cookin' spot has been known on the East End for its bountiful brunches and generous classic American dishes. All of which are truly delicious but unfortunately, the restaurant has appealed to an older crowd and has unknowingly alienated the "30 something" clientele. I'm here to try and bring my people back.

If you love a bar atmosphere that dons dark cherry throughout with a copper bar top, small string lights above, candlelight at eye level and the finest spirits, brews and wines to choose from, you must visit the Tap Room & Bar at the Cooperage Inn. It is the only place to sit when you come here (in my opinion). The Tap Room is where you will be able to enjoy the super deals during the week between 5-7 p.m.  I also recommend dinner off of the specials board if you are seated at a high-top table, for maximum comfort with a bigger meal. Be sure to ask for Kat at the bar...and tell her Melissa sent you.

I went there for the first time last night, met up with my friends that frequent the Cooperage.  My husband had the pork chops & I had the chicken francese, very tasty & the portions were very generous in size. The staff was very friendly as well.  Even though I am an hour away, I plan on coming back and would recomment this place in a heart beat!

The Cooperage Inn is an above average American restaurant that serves favorites such as meatloaf and steaks. I come here a lot with my family after going out to the farms to pick and buy fresh fruits and vegetables. The variety here is usually pretty good and there's always something for everyone. My favorite part of the meal is always dessert.

Although most of the dishes on the menu sound very tempting, the results from the kitchen vary greatly from dish to dish.

On our last visit we had Pumpkin ravioli as an appetizer. The ravioli were literally swimming in a heavy, thick, overly sweet sauce that completely overpowered the ravioli. ($12.50)

We ordered their calamari salad as one main course, and it was excellent. We've had this in the past, and it is always light, very tender with a crisp coating. The salad greens, chili's and dressing blend perfectly with the calamari. A very good dish ($15.50).

The other main course was a fluke special that was listed as encrusted fluke, apple slaw, and white beans. It surprisingly came one stacked atop the other, and the tastes did not blend well in the least. The beans were overcooked, and the slaw did not go with the fluke. Another poor selection. ($25)

We shared a dessert called pineapple napoleon that had home made pineapple ice cream sandwiched between two fresh cookies and topped by a thin browned slice of pineapple. Here, everything worked well together, and it was a nice finish. ($7.50)

Overall, it has a nice old Inn feel, and some of the dishes are very good; however, you need to know the menu before ordering. Service was fine.

We visited the Cooperage Inn during one of their fall festival days.  The food was good, an relatively cheap.  The ribs were awesome.  They had outdoor seating and live music.  Throw in the beautiful weather and it was a great visit!

Came here on a Sunday afternoon for a quick bite to eat before hitting up the vineyards. Unbeknownst to us, we came during Cooperage Inn's Fall Festival,  which is pretty much a  big ole backyard bbq with live music. This place was poppin'.

The special festival/bbq menu wasn't vegetarian friendly, but that didn't matter much to me because I had my heart set on only one thing: locally grown, FIRE ROASTED CORN ON THE COB! Holy sweet, buttery, smokey corn on the cob. I destroyed two of those bad boys and could have devoured two more but modesty got the best of me. Instead I dutifully noshed on my crisp sweet potato fries and fresh garden salad.  Total meal [including Diet Coke] = $17. A bit pricey for 4 side items, but worth it for fresh, quality produce. I fell in love with the chef (?!) when I saw him picking aromatic herbs from their garden. Like, le swooooooooooooon!

    Other notes:
    - Festival ends on October 23rd
    - Traffic is a bitch
    - Parking on the premises is a bitch, and spills out to the neighboring field. Just watch out for the mud!
    - GET THE CORN!!! EAT THE CORN!!! Seriously, the season is almost over!
    - The carnivores on my table considered selling their first born for the pulled pork sandwich, so there's that.

we went day tripping out east today and had a wonderful time and my daughter wanted to stop at the cooperage because they seemed to be having some outdoor festival. when we got there we looked at the outdoor menu, but my daughter wanted to try the restaurant, after being ignored, a blonde woman came out and looked at us like we were insects and said we might like it out side as the outside menu was one third the cost of indoors...who the hell did she thing she was. i have never been spoken to like that in any restaurant, and i have been in much better than that one...i will spend my money else where...in this economy, restaurant employees better step down off their high horses, or feel the bite of unemployment.  i would never go there again to be insulted like that.

I had been to Cooperage a few years back for dinner and was not a fan. I went in for their Sunday Brunch and was blown away! Their Buffet, only $25 for beyond all you can eat was insane. Everything was delicious, and fresh! (Did I mention how reasonably priced it was??)

The buffet also comes with a complimentary Mimosa, or Bloody Mary. That's the only drawback. The drinks were not good. Who puts ice in a Mimosa? The Bloody Mary should have been renamed "A Glass of Tomato Juice"

Other than that (Which is easily fixed) I recommend them for Brunch.

Just as the star rating says, its A-OK.

I'm not a huge buffet person, but this was pretty good. The room is a little small though so it crowded real fast. The house salad dressing was incredible and the paella was really good too. My favorite dessert were the PBJ bars and their coffee crumb cake. Extra yum.

We sat outside and the it was covered and landscaped nicely, but the sound form the main road was almost unbearable. Stopping conversation every 10 words to allow for a motorcycle to motor on by got old fast.

The paella gave me food poisoning, on the day of my grandfather's funeral. I attempted to alert them, so that the mistake wasn't made again (for the sake of future customers), and they e-mailed me back insisting that I was mistaken. It's pretty hard to mistake a three-day food poisoning for something else, when all you ate that day was a very complicatedly prepared meal involving meats cooked at various different temperatures... of course that could never go wrong. Hah.

I'm sure that other menu items are positively delicious, but the attitude of the staff really held me back from ever returning again.

We were headed out to tour the North Fork with our visiting son from Los Angeles who's used to some fairly hip eating joints and is pretty discriminating.  He, and us, were favorably surprised when entering an unassuming structure built as close to the road  that it could have been a filling station in an earlier life.  When we got around to the back entrance, the large jammed parking lot gave some hint that there might be something worthwhile be hidden inside.  We were hungry, about 2 pm, and had to wait 20 minutes or so for a table in one of three large dining rooms.  It's definitely not an ordinary LI diner, but had a wide range of lunch options.  I had a meat loaf wrap, mainly because I was curious how meat loaf could be packaged in a wrap, and found it delicious, interestingly spiced and of a generous size.It was accompanied by a garden salad with an excellent variety of very fresh lettuce that is rare in casual restaurants on the Island.  Service was indeed slow--as noted by other reviewers--but the mature waitress was pleasant and skilled.  From reading the extensive newspaper articles about the place posted in the waiting area we got the impression that the place had indeed undergone quite an evolution over the years, including expansion and a fairly recent change in management.  I'd certainly drop off again for a meal, but it's probably not a destination restaurant.

I threw a bridal shower here and have to say that I was pretty impressed with many aspects of the whole process (but do read on - there were some glitches too). First off, booking was a cinch - and I was doing it from HK (I've sorta moved there, but that didn't take away from my bridesmaid responsibilities, and advantage of having known NYC nearly all my life - even if LI isn't exactly NYC).

They took a $50 deposit, and even though I didn't make the 35 person min for a private room, was still given private space.  The food was delicious - and for a private party at $24.95 pp, I thought it was pretty reasonable (I believe it was about $10 more at nearby but also delicious Digger's).

So great, service, great food -- what's wrong? The restaurant itself is quite charming, but I'd say the room had some "old white people living room" look, and was pretty dimly lit (we had our event at lunch time).  Then there was the huge mimosa punch bowl debacle -- basically here's the deal.  There are alcohol add-ons you can do, something like $12pp for unlimited wine and beer, more for unlimited liquors... then I was told of a $3 pp mimosa punch bowl option -- and I'd think that unlimited too -- after all, a mimosa punch bowl is half ice, 1/4 juice, and 1/4 cheapie champagne -- so when there was no second punch bowl, I went and asked for a refill.  I was then told I got it wrong, and that a punchbowl for 30 is normally $90 -- hold the phone, that's not how it was explained to me, and then I was told that they never had problems like that before, and that the boss' son was bartending, so it would be troubling to complain. huh?

Anyway, after much huffing and puffing, I was given a second punch bowl gratis, which we embarassingly didn't finish (but I believe we would have had they not interrupted us for so long).  I thought it was outrageous, nonetheless, that a cheap mimosa punch bowl could really be $90 -- that's just highway robbery!!

Otherwise, everything was great, and we also lingered on in the room an extra hour and was not charged extra.  So I appreciate all the efforts to handle that mixup/fiasco, allow us all to enjoy our party, and like I said -- food was outstanding.  Impressive.

Staying in Mattituck and looking for a good place to have dinner in the middle of winter.  Everyone else seems to be going to Amano (a good place).  We wanted something different.  The Cooperage has a nice website and they're open, so we decided to check them out.

Service was amazing.  The hostess seated us right away, and before we could ask, there was bread, hummus and glasses of water on the table.  The bartender came over shortly and answered questions and took drink orders.  We ordered wings, chicken, and shrimp.  Nothing blew me away, but everything was better than ok.  We ordered the small plates as we weren't starving, and there was more than enough food.

My one complaint is that a place this good needs to get a good blue cheese dressing.  The blue cheese dressing they use is kind of a very spicy ranch dressing with chunks of blue cheese in it.  Not good for wings, but "ok" on salads.

We will probably go back if we're in the area again.  You should definitely give it a shot if you're thinking about it.  Very friendly service.

Went here for a Fathers Day dinner with my dad and my boyfriend and a few other family members. Holy shit this place is pricy. But it's eastern LI so what do you expect.

The food was good,  beer way overpriced (boyf had a terrible lobster ale that was 9 dollars?), and the dessert was great although it was a very very small portion for a creme brulee.

My dad's obsessed with this one salad that have that has sweet sweet dressing. It was really good though.

I wouldn't go out of my way to go to this place, but then again I'm totally not it's demographic anyway.

If you are a 30 - 60 year old that likes 'fancy dining' and watching sitcoms such as 'how i met your mother' and 'everybody loves raymond' or my dad, then you will absolutely love this place.

I was highly recommend to come here for Sunday brunch and I would have to thank the person that told me about this place. Brunch was buffet style with a complementary Mimosa or bloody Mary. The breakfast assortment consisted of the typical omelet, bacon, sausage, etc etc etc. What would bring me back to this place is the lunch portion they had a good assortment from jambalaya to pasta. Last but not least dessert was good with typical brownies and cake.

I one thing that I did not like so much was the service. We had to wait a few minutes for coffee and for someone to remove our dirty plates from the table.

For me I don't care so much for the service as my girlfriend does but she did not even care soo much.

I would definitely come back again and try their dinner out.

YUMMMMMM!  I just ate here for the first time this evening and I am impressed!  First, let's start with the atmosphere:  The lighting is dim, the feel is homey, not too elegant, but not relaxed, with a plantation home type feeling.  If you are familiar with the Mill Ridge Inn in Nassau County, this has a similar homestyle feeling, but the food is not homestyle at all!! There is a large menu selection from both the sea and the land.  You can choose a "large" portion or a "small" portion, so there is a little for everyone!

We skipped appetizers although I did see a few that looked very appealing.  For an entree I had the Sesame Crusted Pan Seared Fresh Yellow Fin Tuna (phew a mouth full!)  it was served over a bed of spinach and wasabi mashed potatos.  The tuna was DELICIOUS, tender, cooked perfectly, and the crust was delicious.  The wasabi potatos weren't my favorite but they were definitely interesting and enjoyable.  The spinach was even delicious.  I am usually not a fan of spinach, but this spinach was sauteed fresh baby spinach - great!!  The entree also came with a fresh garden salad, paired with a fresh raspberry vinaigrette.   The person I was with ordered the stuffed shrimp scampi and it was DELICIOUS!!!!  The mashed potatos served with it were great, and there was a nice selection of fresh veggies paired with it.

For dessert, they had a great selection from pineapple napoleon, tartufo, cheesecake, fresh local strawberries paired with a sauce, and what I chose, the smores.  It was an interesting set up, definitely not what I was expecting - it wasn't the traditional gram cracker, chocolate and marshmallow.  The gram cracker was very soft with chocolate paired underneath a layer of marshmallow.  IT was a tad too sugary for my taste but would be good for those with a sweet tooth.  The pineapple napoleon was also veryyyyy good!

So what is my only complaint? The service was slowwwwww, we had atleast a 20 minute wait between our salad and entree, and waiting to order dessert took forever. This could be due to the fact that the waitress was servicing 5+ tables at once, but I can overlook the fact because the food was delicious.  I will definitely be coming back here!!
