absolutely horrible customer service. this "golf course" and I use that term loosely, doesn't care for its players. I treated my brother to a round of golf on 07/20/2013, paid $114. we had a 908 tee time. we were paired up with another two players. the entire front 9 we would pull to a tee box, and have to wait for 2 other foursomes to tee off. where was the ranger? nowhere in sight. it took us almost 3 1/2 hours on the front 9. we began the back 9, tee'd off on 12. lightning struck one fairway away while in the middle of play. lightning horn went off. we returned to the clubhouse to have a few drinks and try to ride it out. an hour went by. bartender said did you get your refund for the back 9? i stated no. she suggested talking to the pro. I went into pro shop and asked the manager, who was about 19 years old, if my brother and I could finish the round. he said no, because they had about a 100 players waiting to play an outing. i asked for a refund for back 9 at that point. he asked what hole we were on. I stated we just tee'd of on 12. he said " sorry you're passed the point of no return." i asked what the policy was. he said if you were on 11, i could give a refund but you already tee'd off on 12. REALLY? because we tee'd off one hole later you wont refund our money. my brother spoke to them and said is your policy in writing? if so i would like to see a copy of it. Manager stated its not in writing, just word of mouth. my brother stated then its really not a policy if its not in writing. we explained that we didn't even want the refund, just to finish playing. manager lied and told my brother he told me we could go out on 14. never said that. he lied and the others swore to it, including the owner who stood in the corner. we went back out and finished 5 holes in 30 minutes. was it really that hard to accommodate us? i live only 5 minutes from the course. play there every 2-3 weeks. this is how you treat your customers? if you haven't checked, the economy isn't so great. many courses are struggling to stay afloat. you would think they would do anything they could to have repeat customers. the course isn't even that great. everywhere is very swampy. we Haven had rain in 7 days with 95 degree weather everyday and still sunk in the ground with cart. many other courses in much better shape with better bang for your buck in the area. rockhill, pinehills are within a 5 minute drive from swan lake. much better up keep and certainly more accommodating. i will NEVER return to swan lake.
Review Source:One of the best Public Golf Course's on the East End of Long Island. Greens run smooth, fairways are in good condition. Overall a very nice public course.
BTW: I shot my first ever Hole in One on Monday July 16, 2012 on the Par 3 13th Hole
222 Yards into a stiff wind with a 3 wood. WOW ! What a feeling !
