My husband enjoys playing pool. He has played here several times. However, the first time we went here we were told military play free on Sunday evenings when he showed his military id to reserve a table. Last night we were told only active duty play for free so I guess those that served 20 years have no value. You don't get a permanent military id card for nothing. This is last time we will give you our extra cash -any day of the week- due to your unwillingness to appreciate those veterans that paid their dues. It's not like the place is so packed on a Sunday evening that you can't reward all those that  have served. So thank you boss lady for allowing it "just this one time" but never again attitude....
Review Source:The pool tables brought me here in the first place, but I've grabbed several meals along the way as well... above average bar food for sure. I've had a few different things - salad, wings, sandwiches, etc. All were good. The spicy corn nuggets were interesting... I've never had (or seen) those before so I decided to give them a try. If you're just looking for a small inexpensive appetizer to tide you over a bit, give them a try. I'm not crazy about their $20 minimum policy for paying with a card because I often prefer to use cards over carrying cash... and as an individual, the things I buy often fall under $20. They let you use a card for less than $20, but tack on a fee. As a business owner myself, I "get it"... but I haven't seen that a fee like this is the "norm" for this type of business, and it took me by surprise the first time it happened.
Review Source:Staff is nice but not attentive. Audio was left on for a news program while the NLCS was on. No giant screen for major sporting events.
Was served RAW chicken after 30 minutes of waiting. My friend's order never came 45+ min after ordering.
Drinks are just okay. Playing pool is fun. Seems like a good place for regulars. After the raw chicken, won't go back.
Their service has declined over the course of this year, u have one person tell you pool is free during football then bring you a $30 bill, then tge servers meander aimlessly around picking up old glasses and don't engage conversation or ask to get you a drink or refills, it's as close to invisible a human can get. They can't even get s beer right, blue moon with orange, standard drink....can't even remember the orange....
If the pool tables weren't nice we would NEVER go back. Any yelpers know of a good place to play pool, please hit me up
We always have a great time at Corner Pocket! Â My husband is a true Karaoke King (at least in his world), so we had to find a place with good atmosphere, clean, decent service, etc. Â This is it! Â We enjoy it so much we bring friends back often...and we even had our bachelor/ bachelorette party there! Â
Fun Times!!!
Great place for shooting pool and grabbing a drink. My bf, his cousin and I headed over to check this place out. It was pretty empty at the bar when we arrived and empty at the pool tables, guess we were early. It was nice to have a pick at any table and sure enough as the night grew so did the crowd. I chose not to play and just watch and catch glimpses of the sports games on the TVs. Conversations were interesting but it was a great time for me.
After a few rounds of pool we headed to grab a bite. We will check this place out again because I also think they have an early bird Pool Table deal. Not sure of the price tho.
Check this place out!
This place is Great! I love the bar, big and always fun people. They have a lot going on. I have not played pool but the tables look good. Good daily food and drink specials. Like others have said looks small from the outside and tucked behind walgreens, but a nice place with events galore. Try Wiener Wednesdays or Taco Tuesdays.
Review Source:Somebody likes this place, but not me.
Parking is scarce on a busy night, we had to walk a busy-Sunday-after-payday-at-Walmart walk to doors of this place.
Pool tables abound - so many, that when you go to shoot, you get to chopstick with one of the tables next to you. Â The best part is that even though I was going to shoot pool, I got to shell out a $5 cover change. Â I think they thought that "Cover Band" meant that you need to charge a "Cover" to get in. Â
The bar did not have enough bartenders and you had to wait about 10 minutes to get any attention. The prices are not cheap and they have a minimum on tabs. Let's do the math - for 1 IPA, I paid: 2 covers ($10), IPA ($4.25), Minimum charge ($1), tip ($.75); for a total of: $16 for 1 IPA. That's an expensive beer!
My recommendation, go somewhere decent and skip getting wedged into the corner pocket.
2-stars, because it might not be so bad when it's not busy.
There is A LOT going on here.
Their weekly event schedule is packed with specials and good deals. Just swinging in on a Monday night I happened across: free pool on full size tables from 7-9pm and a beer pong tourney on the other side of the bar. I was fully satisfied with the 5.25 full size 32 oz IPA on tap and looked no further on my beer quest. It appears deceivingly small from the outside, but opens up to I'm guessing 20-30 full size pool tables, huge horse shoe bar, dart boards, shuffle board and what could be a stage or dance floor depending on the occasion.
The crowd ranged from the ultra loud bar guy to very friendly people that invited me to shoot pool with them on their table. Very cool as I was traveling solo. Bartenders were fast and helpful with my quest to continually fill my face with beer. And the food looked pretty good, though I did not partake. Â It was a dive bar like atmosphere.. but more clean.. All in all worth the stop if you are in the area and in need of some entertainment.
Pretty cool bar, tucked away in a strip mall on the corner of Sunrise and Antelope. Â I stopped by for the first time last night to meet up with a group of friends welcoming home a good friend of ours. Â It was BP night. Â Pitchers were a couple of dollars more than other bars I've been too, but the staff was really nice and made sure everyone was taken care of. Â
We mainly stayed in the front room, but in the back there were plenty of pool tables. Â Bathrooms were clean; there's a juke box. Â Overall, a cool place it seems to hang out and watch sporting events.
The staff there is very rude! Â We went to watch a friend's band play and the doorman came up to us and told us that we could not cheer the band on and that we had to stop or we would have to leave. Â They made some lame excuse that ABC doesn't allow that. Â We will not be going back there!
Review Source:Oh those three little words...Wieners on Wednesday! A hot dog, fries and a domestic pint of beer for $5.99... woo hoo! I enjoy nice restaurants but once in a while it's nice to grab some cheap food and beer and play a few games of pool. Corner pocket is the perfect place. Also, on Wednesdays tall cans of PBR are $3!
Review Source:This place is awesome. Drinks, greasy food, hot chicks, SF Giants, beer pong, pool, darts, hot waitress breaking up fights and did I mention drinks? This place is young and old friendly. So badass, or maybe that was the drinks. Only complaint is that bartenders are blind at times and you may need to linger to get your drinks. Oh yeah, did I mention the semi hot chicks giving away free shots!?!?!?!?!?
Review Source:ive been here about 5 times to watch the ufc fights with my boyfriend and a couple of his friends. the service is always hella slow.
we will not be returning to this bar because the last time we were there, the server was very rude and gave us attitude; therefore she was lucky she even got a tip. She then decides to confront us about why she got such little tip and make a scene about the whole thing. the funny thing was i received the statement from my bank account the following weekday and found that she added a twenty dollar tip to my bill. I called corner pocket many times and the owner was always "busy." It was eventually resolved, but lets just say my views on this place now is that they are very shady.
Horrible service. Total buzz kill.
I am a connoisseur of sports bars of sorts. Â I have visited a few in the greater Sacramento area and I am usually happy with the drinks, service and atmosphere - usually. Â I feel I am being generous with the 3 stars....the only reason it is getting 3 is the overall looks and functionality of the bar itself. If you like to play pool, darts, pong etc...this is the place. Also, nice warm smoking section during the winter time too. Â
Please note, I am a 20% tipper at most establishments. Â One sports bar in Carmichael began to send me messages via Facebook when I was moving to the Citrus Heights area because they missed me....but I think it was my tipping capacity. Â Just saying.
My first  visit to this bar was on a Saturday evening, before the security started to set up the line and check ID's.  It was not busy at all yet, plenty of seating at the bar.  We walked in, and waited waited waited until the bartender acknowledged our presence.  I found that super annoying.  Ordered our drinks.  Drinks were fine, of course.  Ordered Stoli.  2 drinks per person.  After our first drink was done, we waited waited and waited again.  Finally got the second round. That was fine too. Â
When we asked for the check, I have to say - I felt the drinks were a bit too pricey for 2 Stoli's per person. Â I tipped accordingly and swore I would not come back. Â I lied.
After a very long work day, we decided to give it a try - one more time. Â I will tell you that we waited quite awhile for a drink, and it was not busy as it was 9PM on a Tuesday night. Â I get the fact that your regulars will probably get better service...but this was ridiculous. Â It was like we were ghosts. Â The only people that really did talk to us was the gal cleaning the liquor bottles and the security guy. Â Actually - he made our night fun, by cracking jokes at the incessant country western music another patron chose for basically our entire stay. Â He made the night...otherwise, it was a draw. Â This time we ordered well Vodka and it was the same price as the Stoli a few nights ago. Come on.
Overall, I will not be going back. Â It's too expensive to sit there to be ignored. Â Oh and last night - I tipped 10% because I got mad. Â That's all folks.
Pretty decent menu for food, and a lot of drinks, but then it IS a sports bar. A bunch of pool tables, darts, even live bands from time to time. A lot of tvs around the place so you always have something you can watch.
I definitely recommend for a good night out for a drink, a bite, and billiards.
I gave this place a try yesterday for the first time as my friend randomly called and said to meet there for his brother's birthday.
Overall, a very nice and enjoyable visit. Â We played darts, shuffleboard and pool. Â Our waitress along with the bartenders were pretty friendly and always smiling.
As for my friend's brother's birthday, he was offered a free hour of pool along with a free birthday drink from the bar, which was really nice of them, and yes they did check to make sure his ID was his exact birthday :-)
My gripe with this place had to be the lack of the famous refillable soda which designated drivers depend like myself depend on. Â I was also displeased with the food prices. Â A basket of fries ran close to $5.50, and the only special was a random sandwich (depending on the day of the week) and fries for $5.99. Â They claim to offer a special in which you purchase a glass of beer for $6 and every refill is $2 for the rest of the night. Â I wasn't very impressed being that beer normally cost $2 on average.
Either way, with deep pockets of cash I had a great time, I'll just be sure to pregame with food and possibly some beverages at Walgreens next door :-P
Bar food!! tasty morsels of food to accompany your drink and football/basball/hockey game... and ufc fight. saturdays they have a cover with a cover band, always something delightful, not a regular hangout but the bar food is great aslong as you remember this is bar food served at a bar with drinks served... at a bar. downrate this review but your complaints on the food are aside to some kind of bias that your exspecting filet with your coors light.
For a sports bar this place has alot going on with kareoke on sundays, taco tuesdays, UFC fights and cover bands. had a few fun times with friends there and look forward to more good times there.
Great pub. Lots of TVs, pool tables, and darts. Recently remodeled to have granite counters, upscale looking pub. Chicken wings are great. They did just recently got rid of a menu item that I loved though! Bring back the pork rib. Drinks are made well. Loved loved loved our cocktail waitress, Chelsea. Upbeat fun personality, great suggestions, quick with refills, etc. Would be nice to have her behind the bar though - that's where we usually sit. Other staff haven't been as great. We get carded at the door everytime... You'd think theyd know us by now. But overall it's a great place!
Edit: We love this place and will continue to keep coming back.
11 pool tables, 4 dart boards, shuffle board and beer pong. Â DJ on Friday nights, live music (mostly tribute & cover bands) ranging from Journey to AC/DC on Saturday nights. Â
Mondays they have free pool up to 2 hours and during game nights. Â Corner Pocket is known for UFC Fight Night, following with a live band. Â Get there early enough and you don't have to pay a cover. Â If you do it's usually $5.00 for both the fight & the band. Â That's a bargain! Â
Halloween they always throw a fantastic party! Â Riff Raff (AC/DC Tribute Band) has been performing there for the past 3 years and personally I've made it my tradition every year to go there for this specific event. Â
Lots of tv's to watch your favorite sports games/events and they usually have themed drink specials to match a main event. Â Several beers on tap, full bar and the bartenders make a mean drink. Â
Great place to meet for a date, catch up with friends or have a nice evening playing pool. Â
I reminds me of Cheers but on a much larger scale. Â If you haven't been to the Corner Pocket you need to check it out and once you do it will become one of your local hang outs.
Free pool on Monday nights from 6-9 pm is always a plus. Â But it gets crowded so get there early. Â The food's not the best, but this is a true bar so what else would you expect. Â The service is a bit spotty but the servers are very friendly. Â We've been on weeknights and Saturdays and it's usually got a free pool table available.
Review Source:First of all, we went lats Saturday and it was packed for UFC..... there wa a $5 cover which was fine....
They have plenty of parking, decent location, and its pretty clean... ohh yeah, lots of security guards...
So we we pciked out good seats next to the tvs...
The food was pretty garbage... Probably all frozen from Costco or Sam's Club....
The beers were solid.. Big steins......
I don't know if we will go back... It was.... ok... Not bad... Not great....Maybe if they have a special going on...
Ok, I will start of by saying that this place gets packed during a pay-per-view event. Entrance to the event was reasonably priced at 5 dollars per person. No complaints here.
So we paid and entered. The time on my cellphone read 6:22. Entering quickly, we immediately noticed that the majority of the bar seats were occupied or tipped forward signifying being taken. No worries, plenty of circular tables to the left of us, but wait these tables have reserved signs placed on each of them. A bit disappointed we noticed a white table easily capable of seating 8 comfortably only being occupied by two gentlemen. We approach and immediately get told that its also being reserved. Eventually we do find two bar stools near the pool tables not being occupied; we sit down.
Glad to have found seats with a decent viewing area, we begin our half hour wait before the fight begins. Within 5 minutes of sitting down we are approached by a cheerful waitress. We ask for a menu, and it gets promptly delivered. So far so good, were the words flowing through my head at that particular moment.
So we quickly decide upon our choice of items and that is when the wait began. After 20 min of reading this very simple 3 page menu up and down, and just barely giving up hope of ever seeing the waitress again, she suddenly appears. Cheerful as we last saw her, she takes our order.
I got beer in a mug, and my friend got a menu item with water. She goes off again. 10 min later my beer finally arrives. My friend seeing me receive my drink asks the waitress about his water. She jokingly says there is no water. We both chalk it up to her forgetting it and expecting her to quickly go back and get him some water.
It's now 30 min into our wait, and now an announcement is made about technical difficulty with some appliance in the food area not functioning.
Finally after over an hour wait, she makes her way over with my friend's dish, which is basically a jumbo hot dog. Still no water for my friend. He asks her again, saying that he is really thirsty and he would like some water. She repeats the same joke she said earlier, and walks away. He looks at me with the "is she for real, where's my water" and waits around a bit to give her another chance at redemption. Eventually realizing he may never get water, he finally gets up and goes off to buy a water bottle from the bar.
Minutes after he starts sipping on his bought water, she finally brings a cup of water around. As she puts down the water, she begins apologizing for the numerous delays in today's service. She soon after brings me the check.
Usually service this bad deserves no tip, but having a heart towards the rest of the workers she will most likely be splitting the tip with that night, I decided upon leaving a 17 percent tip. I personally thought it was way more than what was fair, apparently I was wrong. For when I got home and began checking my online bank statement transactions, I realized that my tip was changed from 17 percent to a 20 percent tip. The increase in 3 percent tip really didn't hurt my bank account too much, but the fact that someone would actually decide on the final amount of my tip after I had legibly written it in is scary.
I'm not sure if I would like to come back here again, but if I ever do, I am definitely bringing cash.
This is not my first visit here, but this has got to be the most unpleasant experience so far. I want to give this place 1 star, but will give it 2 because previous excursions to Corner Pocket have been enjoyable.
Pros:
Pitchers of beer
Lots of pool tables
Outdoor smoking area with tv's
Large bar area
Tv screens all around inside
Cons:
Service
Questionable credit card charge
Fridays and Saturday nights have a $5 cover charge because there is a dj who spins and a small dance floor. Â The pool area and bar is pretty big and clean. Not ghetto at all compared to the billiards I've been to in Sacramento. It's pretty laid back not much people dancing just hanging out. Â I didn't notice until the end of the night I was the only Asian and my friend the only mexican. Â Haha. It's a chill place and everyone was friendly.
Review Source:LOVE this place. Nice bar, great bartenders, LOTS of pool tables (free pool on Mon. 6-9, $2/hour after), some dancing on certain days, great place to watch football, big and SPACIOUS,
Lots of things to do here. It's not a fancy place, so dress as you like sexy or totally comfortable. Great place to hang with friends.
(Word of caution, the restrooms are in the same little corner, so if you're drunk, make sure you enter the right one, heh, interesting experience:))
If I knew about yelp a little over a year ago, this place might have gotten a bad review from me, but since they remodeled, its looking pretty good. Â They are within walking distance from where I live so its very convenient. Â The place was really clean, not too crowded and had a nice laid back, fun atmosphere. Â They even have a DJ on Fridays and live music on Saturdays. Â There's lots of pool tables, darts and a dance area. Â Not a huge place, but deffinently workable. Â The price for food and pool was a little pricey and there's a cover on Saturday after 8:30pm because of the band, but the drink prices were reasonable. Â I wouldn't recommend driving out of your way for it, but if you live nearby, its a great choice.
Review Source:Last night as I was reclining on my couch, watching Inside Edition and single-handedly polishing of a bag of caramel popcorn, I got a text message. "Watcha doin ? Want some ice cream?". I hated to admit my gluttony to my friend, but I had to turn down the ice cream and suggest an alternative activity.
We ended up at Corner Pocket. It was my first time patronizing this establishment. The 6 or 8 harleys out front gave me a moments pause, but I went in anyway. It is surprisingly large inside. The crowd was mostly 20's and 30's. There seemed to be more girls than guys, and lots of them were cute. The waitress was cute too, and had a really nice rack........not to go all Katy Perry or anything, Â just a tip for the single guys.
There were lots of pool tables, but this being a Wednesday night, only 3 of them were being used. My friend and I played electronic darts, which was really fun. The jukebox was playing a mix of rock and gangsta rap, which was odd since the crowd was extremely white. Y'all know my white ass is down with the gangsta rap. I enjoyed it so much that it threw off my dart game. Anyway, this place is large, clean, and well lit. Staff and patrons were friendly enough. I would have felt safe here with a girlfriend.
So you say you want to play pool and you're in the Rocklin - Roseville area but you don't feel like driving all the way down to Hard Times near Sacramento? Well, this is pretty much your alternative if you are looking for a pool hall / full bar.
Let me start off with some misgivings and concerns you may have when you roll up to spend a night at the Corner Pocket located at the corner of sunrise and antelope. You'll of course notice the large LABOR READY temp work agency not far away located next to the famous Twisted head shop in a place that is hidden behind the Wallgreens on the edge of Citrus Heights... Listen, I know it sounds bad on the outside. The windows are all tinted; sure it looks creepy.
If that is enough to put you off at first I wouldn't blame you, but you'd be damn surprised if you went inside. First of all let me say the majority of the tables, balls, and cues are all in good to great condition. There are plenty of tables open, lots of TV's for your local sports or what-not and after 6 there tends to be a waitress that will come around time to time and ask you what you'd like to drink.
It's cheap to play pool (rates very on the time of day) but even on a Friday night when it is at the most expensive the rates are still cheap. Mixed drinks, booze of the middle to lower shelf manner, and beer run about your average bar costs unless you manage to come on Tuesday  for the 2$ you-call-its. Frankly the bar is nothing special; I come for the pool.
The inside is not as ghetto as people make it out to be; you have to get past the locale and take this place at its face value. They have darts (soft-tip), and a few other games here as well. My best advice for this place is to give it a shot; if you don't like it don't come back but the low prices, good environment, and good pool are starting to snag me as a regular a lot quicker than I imagined. The staff is friendly and so are the patrons; I have a lot of fun here!
this place was quite large... lots of tables (though i thought they could have been spaced a little bit further apart... lot of sticks ramming into each other, heheheh) and not so busy (went on a friday night).
liked the patio for the smokers with the fan and heaters where u could step out with your libation and not feel like u were going to die of second hand smoke...
disliked however, the prices of the libations. scratch that... MAYBE i didn't like my ghetto ass date, and the fact i had to pay for his libations in addition to mine, lol.
note to self: never date dudes from citrus heights ever again, no matter how pretty.
