It is quite interesting. Been to places like the Stampede in Denver, and Stoney's in Las Vegas. So this place is big, lots of stairs. But its ok fun. I got there late so I hope all the guidos were already getting laid by bimbos because I did not see a ton of good stock.
But who cares, drink, be merry and have fun! i sure did and beauty is always in the eyes of the beerholder.
Ok... since I'm a native TEXAN, love country dancing, and a huge music fan i wanted to review Cowboys. Â I've been to a many of the last of the mohicans cowboy bars, and had to give it a 4 ONLY cause its about the ONLY big nice dancehall in DALLAS! Â Sure hate that too. Â I love dancing... and Cowboys is awesome. Â The only complaint I have is the lighting.
Its way TOO DARK in that place. Â Sure you want dim lights in a night club, but jeeze you gotta see if you want to even ask someone 10 feet away from you to dance (or if they even look good enough to ask!) Â
I'm hoping the next time I go they've added some nice lighting touches to the place. Â They need to hire a lighting expert or just ask me! Â I'll help em out! Â Go to COWBOYS and shake a leg!!
The correct name is Cowboys Dance Hall
Iv been coming here since I turned 18. Every halloween they have an AWESOME halloween parites. We frequent here quite a bit because of the atmosphere. Its really laid back. Everyone wears jeans, cowboy boots, and whatever shirt you want. they have a mechanical bull which is fun to watch. They have a HUGE dance floor so no ones sloshing drinks on you and its not so hot and sweaty. Theres also plenty of seating for everyone and bar lines arent to long because there are several bars to choose from. The music is about 96% country. every now and then you get a Cupids shuffle thrown in or an electric slide.
The only reason I didnt do 5 stars is because of the cover charge. Under 21 is 20$. Thats a little ridiculous for a place that doest offer too much if your under age.
A friend, native to Texas, invited me (not a TX native) to go two stepping on a Wednesday night. I was up for the challenge, especially since I had never two stepped a day in my life.
Wednesday nights are Ladies Night at Cowboys Arlington, so I got in for free - hooray! We got there around 9:30pm, and there was a band performing country covers. They were actually really good! The venue is enormous. There is a large dance floor and plenty of seating  and bars around the dance floor. Most of the couples dancing on the floor were older, semi geriatric couples.  Needless to say, I was skeptical about the evening.
Someone did ask me to dance, and I asked him to teach me the two step. Luckily, I do have a dance background and I picked it up pretty fast (although i think anyone could - it is, after all, 2 steps). It started to get more crowded around 11pm.
The crowd is very mixed in age, and there are some great dancers out there, doing tricks and lifts. I was very impressed! About 50% of the men there were wearing cowboy hats, tight Wranglers and boots. For a Cali/NYC girl, this was a total trip! The people watching is excellent, and everyone is generally very nice.
I met and spoke with a very sweet young cowboy (he is certified in cattle roping and bull riding!) who drives 2 hours to the club every week to hang out. It doesn't matter your dancing ability, if you're a girl, you'll get asked to dance.
There were some moments where the DJ would play Top 40 hits, and that's usually when all the guys left the floor and all the girls started dancing in groups. One of the guys actually said to me, "I don't get why people like dancing without partners."
The best part - and this is for the ladies - is that at midnight, all the women get called to the dance floor for the Balloon Drop. There is a net with hundreds of balloons suspended from the ceiling. They release the net and all the ladies fight for balloons. I got one, and inside was a drink ticket! A friend also got one, and inside were two $1 bills. Some of them had nothing inside, which was a huge disappointment for some.
All in all, it was a great night, especially if you like to two step. It was a very new experience for me, and very fun!
Now this is a cowboy bar! Â The place is enormous. Â In the center is a large dance floor surrounded by lots of tables. Â Then there is another tier with more tables and several bars. Â Then there is another tier with more bars. Â Then, on both ends there is another tier with tons of pool tables. Â One side has the mechanical bull. Â In front of the dance floor there is a huge screen where they run videos, until they raise it up to reveal a big stage with a live band. Â The place is filled with women with big hair and men with big hats and big belt buckles. Â Boots all around. Â When a good song plays, the hot cowgirl bartenders jump up on the bars and start dancing. Â The guy operating the bull was a real hoot. Â He would let the ladies have a nice ride and get their picture taken but when a guy would climb on, he would put 'em on the floor in record time. Â This place is all about having fun. Â Go on Wednesday. Â It's ladies night and the long necks are 2 bucks a pop.
