Mom and pop is the perfect term for this local secret. We stopped in at 2 for lunch and there was only one other patron but judging by our meal I'd be wiling to bet we missed the rush and were only sitting there alone by stupid weekday circumstance.
I love a good soup, and finding an artisan that offers a worthy one has been tough. I consider the two soups I tried here to be among the best I've had at any restaurant. The very down to earth, hand assembled clam chowder and Italian wedding soup were both amazing. They probably don't go so far as to make their own stock, but the soup is still really good and worth stopping in and sampling for lunch should you be nearby.
The chicken parm was really good too. The portions were sensible. The sauce was good and the chicken was still crispy despite the sauce and cheese sprinkles.
I stopped there one day on my way home from the beach. Â It was a friday afternoon/evening. We had a party of 5. Â The restaurant was quite full, and there was only one waitress which made service really slow. Â We waiting a fairly long time to get our drinks and orders put in. Â Once the food finally arrived, however, it was great. Â The kids had pizza, which was good. Â The chicken wings were cooked just right, and weren't breaded too heavy. Â The adults had chicken parm and linguini with clam sauce which were both phenomenal. Â We had to wait a long time to get drink refills as the waitress seemed to be pre occupied with costumers she knew on a first name basis. Â Overall the food was beyond excellent, but the service was slow and indifferent.
