How awesome is this little gem? I am only sorry it took me too long to figure out what other Yelpers and the one and only Guy Fieri already knew.  Owned by four Irish sisters, don't let the "it's in a strip mall mentality" keep you from stopping on in. This place is the real Irish deal.

Headed out this past weekend with my very Irish boyfriend for a Saturday night treat.

Walked in, and immediately welcomed with smiling faces. The dining room to your left, and a huge bar area located just to the right. Since the weather was nice, we opted to sit outside. (This place is pup friendly, next time, we are bringing the wee one with...)

First of all, the music is completely contagious. Traditional Irish tunes that had us *attempting* to Riverdance all over the place. We just could not keep our feet still and it put a happy smile on our faces.  We were busted by our awesome and attentive server Dawn, who got a good laugh.

If a Scotch egg is on the menu, I am going to have it. So we started with that and Nana's sausage rolls and a few beers.

Scotch egg was on point! Great crispy breading, plenty of sausage surrounding the perfectly hard-boiled egg... YUM.  I normally go straight for the Coleman's, but the sauce provided was too damn good. A mix of sweet and spicy mustard on top of a bed of mashed tates, it did not stand a chance. The sausage rolls had just a small hint of onion and spice, wrapped in a delicate and light flaky pastry.

I knew without even looking at the menu, I was going for the corned beef and cabbage... but really wanted to try the famous Guinness stew as well.... then I saw the Lamb sliders....

The corned beef is marinated in Guinness and gave it a nice, rich flavor. I busted out the Coleman's for this one and wow. Un-real. I was advised to get the skinny portion, but was sad that I did. The corned beef disappeared rather quickly! The cabbage is sautéed with onion and bacon giving it a sweet flavor, added a dash of salt and watched that disappear as well.

I had a few bites of my boyfriend's Guinness Beef stew... rich and flavorful.... with the hints of beer and barley, very complex with tender bites of beef. A seriously thick bowl that will fill you up.

Well, it just wasn't enough for us. We placed an order for the lamb sliders to go with an order of bread pudding. And I am really glad we did.

I am not a huge bread pudding fan... but was offered a taste later that night. Thick, egg-y, and delicious, I ended up eating half the order before it was pried out of my little hands!

We got around to the sliders the next day. They came with fries... and to our surprise, even nuked, the fries were amazing. We both looked at each other, as if this was the true testament of fry-dom, or chip-dom I guess I should say, that if they were THIS good the next day...just imagine them fresh. Drool.

The Lamb sliders were deliciously seasoned and fantastic, even nuked... juicy and melt-n-your-mouth good. The only thing that would have made them better, is a bit of cheese... but noting that for our next order.

Oh we will back. And it will be soon.

Culhane's location in a strip mall might seem a bit strange at first. Until I moved to Florida, I assumed anything in a strip mall was probably not worth my time. Here you might be pleased to find quality local businesses in strip malls, and Culhane's is definitely one of them. Me and my guy basically live across the street, so for a little while this was one of our default "don't wanna cook tonight" spots. The owners/staff are SUPER nice and SO accommodating -- we brought in a big party (and I'm talking 50+ rowdy drunks) and they didn't even blink.

The atmosphere is probably just what you'd expect from an Irish pub. The dining area and pub area are separate, in case you want a little bit different ambience. There is plenty of beer and food. Both are kind of pricey but at least the food portions are big. I can see how this would excite Guy Fieri, and I blame his endorsement for drawing the ridiculous crowds you'll see on weekends. I've never been to Ireland so I won't pretend to know anything about the authenticity of the menu; however, I do frequent Irish pubs and have visited a few in several cities, so I'll just be honest and say the food at Culhane's hasn't been as exciting as other Irish pub grub I've had.

    Here's a rundown of a few items I've sampled:
    - Reuben egg rolls: On one hand I always order these; on the other hand I don't know if I've ever truly tasted them, because they seem to always be served hot enough to scorch off your tastebuds.
    - Scotch egg: Delicious. But I'm not sure if there's any way to truly mess up a scotch egg.
    - Irish nachos: Well, I found out that I dislike the shepherds pie here, so a mound of potato chips covered in it was less than thrilling. I've been informed that shepherds pie is supposed to be made with lamb (hence the name I suppose) and this is actually cottage pie (beef).
    - Drunken cheesesteak: I did not even taste a hint of Guinness with this? Maybe my tongue was still enflamed from the egg rolls. The filling-to-bread ratio was a little off for me personally (too much bread).
    - Guinness beef stew: Even the "skinny portion" is huge so I don't even wanna think about what the regular portion looks like. I like the idea in theory and the flavor harmony was okay overall (still no real Guinness flavor), but it has that same weird sweet taste as the shepherds pie.
    - Fish & chips: Possibly the biggest disappointment because the entree is $15 and you get two pieces of fish, which are heavily battered, yet the batter just ends up falling off in clumps, leaving you with bland, sad fish.

And I suppose it goes without saying, but this is not a place you want to dine in if you're in any way trying to watch fat or carbs.

Conclusion: a good spot all-around, but low on my personal list of favorite Irish pubs.

I was skeptical about eating here at first because I thought it was a bar. I am glad I did though! The shepherds pie and bangers and mash were delicious! They also had live music. I would return for dinner and drinks!

Great time, awesome Irish pub fare. We are big fans of Guy Fieri's diners drive inn's and dives and this place was on the list of his visits. The menu was full of Irish favorites but I can only eat so much. We had Kaye's Mac & Cheese, loaded nachos      And the  lamb sliders with a Dijon balsamic smear. Yummo!!! We will have to come back to try some of the more traditional Irish food like the Shepard's pie

I have eaten at Irish Pubs across the nation, including Irish hotspots such as Boston and Chicago, and none come close to Culhane's. There isn't a visitor to Jacksonville I haven't taken here at some point. I'd go for their corned beef and cabbage before any steak in town. The shepherd's pie has a richness and herbal complexity that rises far above the typical heavy comfort food this dish usually serves as. The lamb sliders--delicious. The beef and Guinness stew is complex and hearty. The sisters who run the place are always present and check in to see you enjoy your visit. The staff is friendly. And they pour the freshest pint of Guinness in town. LOVE this place.

Close your eyes and forget that you are in Atlantic Beach, FL - because when you come here, you have been transported to Ireland.  The atmosphere, staff and especially the food are unbelievably good.  My wife had corned beef and cabbage, which was tender, tasty and perfectly prepared.  I had the Dingle Fish Pie, which was filled with a creamy mixture of fish, peas and potatoes - very good.  Coupled with a pint of Harp and I was a happy camper.  My daughter loved her fish & chips and my son enjoyed his lamb slides.  The entertainment for the evening was Keith Harkin of Celtic Thunder; can you find a better Irish pub anywhere else in America?  I think not.

We went to Jax for a weekend and had to try this place out.  We had seen a show about the food on Food Network.  This place is run by four sisters from Ireland.  It is a pub/restaurant in a strip mall in Jacksonville off Atlantic Boulevard near the beaches.  The staff are friendly and the music from the live band in the pub was good.  We waited about 15 minutes for a table in the restaurant.  Service was a little slow and not overly impressive.  The wait staff was very pleasant and helpful however.  The bread that came out before our appetizer was marvelous.  Fresh, warm and home-made.  We had the Colcannon Croquettes for an appetizer.  There are two huge croquettes, which are mashed potatoes with cabbage, bacon and rolled in breading, then fried.  OMG fantastic.  I did not care so much for the gravy they were served with, they were wonderful on their very own.
My guy had the fish and chips.  I had the Guiness beef stew.  When I smelled his, I had to taste.  The fish was so incredibly fresh, it had to have been swimming not a half hour earlier.  It was moist, tender, and marvelously breaded in a beer batter that was crispy and crunchy without being greasy.  His chips were crisp and still had a lovely potato-y center.  My beef stew was a large portion in a soup bowl  It was very tender and moist, in a rich brown savory gravy with carrots, potatoes, onions, and mushrooms.  I could not finish it and had to take the rest home with me.
This menu looks so good that we have to come back.  I want to try the potato leek soup and perhaps the shepherd's pie.  Or maybe those fish and chips.  This is definitely a place to which we want to return.  Try it, you'll like it.

Culhane's is a friendly, fun, family-run Irish pub. I love heading here for brunch to get two-for-one mimosas and an omelet with home fries. I am a brunch fiend, and this is definitely one of my favorite places in town to get it. My husband is a big fan of bloody Marys, and he gives those a thumbs up, too! The staff are all really nice, the facility is clean and inviting, and the ambiance is perfect for a casual date or to grab a meal with a few friends.

I was skeptical to come here since I usually don't like bar/pub food, but oh my gosh, so delicious! We started with the Colcannon Croquettes appetizer, which essentially tasted like fried mashed potatoes with a rich gravy. They only give you two but it was enough to share between 4 people.  We also had soft pretzels with hot mustard dipping sauce while we sipped on Irish beers (Smithwicks, Snake bites, etc). For an entree, the shepherd's pie is where it's at! The beef/gravy mixture is seasoned exquisitely & the mashed potato/cheese combo baked on top makes the dish almost sinful.

Apparently on Saturdays there is karaoke which is always entertaining. The crowd is a little older 40-60's but the atmosphere is nice & the service was great. We had a party of 10 & they seated us right away.  I will def be coming back to Culhane's.

I love the Guiness stew, the shepherds pie and the lamb sliders.  They have great Irish beer on tap.
I wish they had online reservations, but I don't mind waiting for a table with a pint in my hand.

I'm giving Culhane's 5 stars as it just excels as what it is. A family run, casual, comfortable, fun Irish pub with reasonable prices and surprisingly good food. While I wouldn't say Culhane's is terrific at any one thing, it is the whole package, and overall the extremely friendly service and atmosphere, that wins the day.

I have found this becoming my default stop when I'm at a loss for where to go, or have to pass some time by myself. There's always something going on at night, be it trivia, a local band, or just friendly people getting together.

I have to admit, Irish and English food is not something I generally seek out. Despite this bias, Culhane's food is a step above. I've had several meals, and stopped by once for brunch as well (2 for 1 Bloody Mary's can't be beat!)

The Irish Craic Nachos are terrific for a group. Nan's Sausage rolls as an appetizer or snack are also terrific. And is there any better comfort food than Shepard's Pie? Culhane's version is one of the best I've had.

On nights when a band is playing, the space can get very crowded. It also tends towards an older crowd. I suggest giving it a try.

Went on Thursday thinking it was kids eat free night which is actually Tuesday. The potato soup is outstanding. My wife order a cup, I tried it and we ordered another cup. You know the fish and chips is good when you finish eating and all the tarter sauce is left over. Was very kid friendly.

This great little Irish Pub is a MUST SEE for anyone living or traveling through Jacksonville, Florida. I literally dream about their beef stew and I normally don't even care for the dish. The Dingle Fish Pie (don't let the name fool you), named for the location in Ireland the dish was created from, is delicious, rich, and loaded with hunks of fish and shrimp. The normal Irish Pub staples can also be found like shepherds pie, corned beef, and an amazing slider made from ground lamb. Great music, a friendly atmosphere and the fabulous four sisters that own this quaint establishment make this an enjoyable event as well as a meal. Stop in and thank me later!

    IRISH NACHOS!!!

That was one of the best appetizers I have ever eaten.  Hardy big waffle potato chips with the awesome Sheppard's pie filling and cheese and sour cream.  Ahhhh soo good. Cost as much as my entree at $12.95 but worth every penny.

Their sampler plate was ehhh... average at best not really worth it.

Guinness stew that I ordered was good but didn't come out that hot.

Others in my table ordered Dinglefish pie. ( I had a bite, and it was pretty good creamy good amount of seasoning)

I didn't taste the Rueben that another ordered, but it looked like a good sandwich.
The Atlantic Salmon salad seemed a bit skimpy for $14.95, but I didn't taste that either.

OVERALL: This is really a great place.  I would have given it 5 stars, but the service was a bit slow and my Guinness stew was a bit cold when it came out.  I highly recommend this place especially for those Irish Nachos.  I was the driver so I can't comment on the drinks since this is a pub.

I have been going to Culhane's for years and have watched the place get better and better! I have never had a bad experience. It is the sort of place you can bring friends, a date, or even grandma (mine loves to go to Culhane's when she visits). The staff is friendly and attentive, the food is delicious -- I tend to order the fish and chips, and they have live music quite a few nights a week. If you are looking for delicious Irish food or a laid back place to hang out with friends, I would highly recommend Culhane's!

I went here for Sunday brunch a couple weeks ago and it was amazing. The food was perfect and the server was very helpful when we had questions. He even brought me out a sample of the syrup beforehand so I could decide if I wanted the french toast or not. I got the waffles and they were perfect. My friend got the french toast and LOVED it.
They have 2 for 1 mimosa's which is awesome, and if you and a friend want to share the deal, you're allowed to go halfsies on it.
This place was featured on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives and I can see why. Seriously, so delicious. I checked out the rest of the menu and it looked amazing. I can't wait to go back and try all the food. I appreciate that they have "skinny" versions of some of their dishes. I mean, I'm not sure how "skinny" you can get with shephard's pie, but hey, ya never know!
Can't wait to go back. Maybe bump up my rating to a 5 after I see how it is for all meals.

I have been waiting for years to finally eat at Culhane's and finally, it happened! The wait staff is very welcoming. Walking into the dining room is like walking into your own grandmother's dining room. The entire place feels so homey and comfortable.

The food is, bar none, fantastic. I had the signature Guinness Stew with Colcannon and my friend ate the Shepard's Pie. I, of course, tasted everything and was heading straight for a food coma. We had the sausage rolls as an appetizer. I'm not sure what's all in that sauce for them, but it was delectable.

As someone who embraces my Irish heritage and who has visited Irish pubs all over the world (although, sadly, none in Ireland yet), the Culhane sisters have done it completely right here. They host different events and bands throughout the year, and I've heard their Paddy's Day party is not to be missed.

Perfection is the enemy of good. Voltaire! That may have been written to describe the crab cakes at this place.  My wife's Guiness beef stew was certainly very good but might still have to consider perfection its enemy--certainly no complaints from us, though.  Yes, I too, first discovered this place by watching "Triple D", otherwise known as Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.  Made a special point of keeping it on my watch list until next in Florida and drove about twenty miles out of my way to go here. Well worth the effort.  Service was upbeat and flawless.  They had a computer meltdown and delayed taking our order for about ten minutes until they could get it fixed...interesting that they couldn't use paper and pencil, but the place is big!  And yet they kept us apprised of the situation up to the minute, and in spite of the size of this place it seems very home-made in all the best ways.

My best friend and I came here for St. Patrick's Day. It was awesome. The crowd was cool. We sat down and ordered a guiness and a killians. Beer was awesome. Then she had shepards pie and I had a reuben. They were both Yum!!! Then we had the bread pudding with ice cream. I'm not a fan of bread pudding but this one was AMAZING!!!!!! Like i could eat 3 or 4 of them. Had a food coma! :) Then we each had a black and tan. Yum. I would come here again on a date other than st. patrick's day to try the full menu.

Saw this as well on DDD.  Everytime I go away, I look for a place my man Guy has gone too and check it out.  This place is a gem.  I went to Jax to play softball and checked out Culhanes.  Service was great, of course it was very empty.  I had the Beef Stew which was amazing.  My buddy has the Shepard pie and that was the highlight of his weekend.  Food is awesome, beer is cold, service is great.  Can't go wrong at Culhanes!!

I'll admit it, I saw the Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives, and I saw that Guy Fieri went there, so I figured I'd check it out.
Located in a strip mall, you seat yourself when you arrive.  There is seating both outside and inside.
Our waitress was extremely warm and friendly, and very helpful.  I would actually go as far as saying that she was refreshing.  She checked in on us often and never once did my water glass go empty.
If good service is what you want, you'll find it here.
    Now on to the food.
I ordered the Guinness Beef Stew.  I'll save you the reading, it was as delicious as Guy described.
My wife had the Fish & Chips.  For some reason, she didn't think they were great, but I think they were better than a lot of other places I have been.
While it's a pub, there are children's portions on the menu.
Overall, it was a great experience.  The prices are reasonable, and the service was top notch.  We'll be back!

Hands down one of my top 5 restaurants in Jacksonville (and I've been to 150+). Amazing service, impeccably clean restaurant and restrooms, and delicious eats (did I mention I love this place?). The portions are big and the prices are very reasonable. Oh, and the Guinness is cold and equally tasty. No complaints!
I've been to Culhane's 6x for dinner and I get the "skinny" portion (smaller, but still plenty!) of corned beef and cabbage with mashed potatoes (and a side of their amazing pub fries, which I douse generously with malt vinegar...) every time. It's that good. The corned beef is lean and the cabbage is bursting with flavor from the accompanying bacon pieces and caramelized onions. The boyfriend is in love with the slightly sweet Shepherd's Pie topped with cheese and the parents adore the Guinness Beef Stew. Lamb sliders were a hit too! Last time we visited, I checked in on foursquare and one of the owners informed us we'd receive a complimentary bread pudding and vanilla ice cream for dessert.

Arrived on a whim as we were in the area.   Place was jammed packed on a Friday at 7:00. We had to wait for a table.  Reservations are recommended for larger parties.
We were seated about a half hour later. Our waiter was very attentive and surprisingly upbeat. Drinks were prompt and the Guiness was perfectly poured.
We started with the Ruben eggrolls. Everyone enjoyed them and the Russian dipping sauce was perfect. I would recomended a double order for a party of four as ours left everyone wanting more.
For entrees we had the stew, shepherds pie, a chicken wrap and the daily special which was a pan fried trout with mashed and a veggie. Everyone was pleased with their order and plates were cleaned. Refills and another perfectly poured draft were supplied by our attentive waiter.
Worth the wait if your hankering for some stick to your ribs Irish comfort food.

Went there for dinner tonite because we saw it featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.  The atmosphere is great and seems to have a decent happy hour.

For our appetizers, I got the potato & leek soup and my fiance got the potato skins.  I liked both.  The consistency of the cream in the potato and leek soup had broken but overall tasted good and wasn't too salty.  The potato skins were good too - your standard potato skins except they put sweet, sauteed onions on top which I thought was a nice touch and contrast of the salty bacon.  My fiance didn't care for it so much.

For our entrees, my fiance got the fish and chips and I got the shepherd's pie.  The cod in the fish and chips was really tasty and fresh but I was disappointed in the serving size.  For $13.95 they only give you 2 pieces of cod - granted they're large pieces but thought they could add one more.  The fries weren't anything exciting.  The shepherd's pie was a little disappointing.  I'm not an expert on Irish fare but I thought the pie was a little watery, closer to a soup.  I was really looking forward to the mashed potato layer with the slightly brown top but the Irish cheese I had ordered on it was melted on the mash and the mash wasn't spread out to cover the stew.  The mash didn't have much flavor to them either.

I wish I had read the reviews and gotten the Guinness stew.  I'll try it next time but I'm not rushing to go back.  I do want to check out the HH though with their $5 menu items.

As other reviewers have noted, the ambience is excellent.  You step out of a typical Florida strip mall and step into a traditional Irish pub.  Kudos to whomever decorated the restaurant!

I went in a small group, and we had the curry fries and Nana's sausage rolls as appetizers.  While I didn't have any of the sausage rolls, both got rave reviews from our party.

Only two of us got entrees and we both got the Guinness beef stew... amazing.  Simply amazing.  I would highly recommend this, especially in the middle of winter.  Solid, hearty food which will 'stick to your ribs', as Grandma used to say.

Service was phenomenal as well.  Our server was exceptionally cheerful and seemed interested in making sure that we had a good time; no glass went unfilled for more than 60 seconds.  She was completely on point the entire time we were there.

I would definitely recommend this restaurant for anyone who enjoys the pub experience!

I'm a huge fan of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives on the Food Network, and saw Culhane's featured on the show in early 2010. We keep track of the restaurants they profile in Florida and periodically take trips to try them ourselves.

Culhane's was by far the best one yet. The show featured the Guinness Irish Stew, so I knew what I was going to have before we got there. However, there are so many other fabulous sounding items on the menu, we'll definitely be making the trip back several more times.

We were there during the Sunday brunch, and so we were fortunate to enjoy 2-for-1 Bloody Marys and Mimosas. Both were delish.

The stew had a great beefy flavor and the aroma of the Guinness came wafting to our table before the waitress even set it down in front of me.

My wife had the Dingle Fish Pie, and it was wickedly creamy and delicious with huge chunks of cod, salmon and shrimp.

For dessert we had the Guinness Bread Pudding (also wonderful) and the pumpkin pie (which was the best I've ever tasted).

Looking forward to going back, but the only problem is what to order next!

Culhane's Irish Pub & Restaurant Review

Atmosphere:  The atmosphere in Culhane's is very casual and easy going.  When you enter, the bar area is in front, just off to the left.  There is ample seating at the bar and the tables around it.  There is a separate and spacious dining area with many booths and tables further to the left.  Culhane's is much more than your average bar...this place makes you feel comforable and "at home."  Their clientele is varied - couples, singles, and families gather there for the food and the nightly events.  The seperate bar and dining room layout is great - when dining, one can hardly hear any spillover noise from the bar when they have music or trivia nights.  This makes it ideal for conversations or celebrations!  The decor is what one would expect in a pub - unpretentious and alot of wood all over the place.

Menu:  The menu features traditional Irish Pub fare with nightly specials.  There is a good variety and balance of menu items (Click here to see the menu) The dinner menu offers 2 portions - the "Skinny" and regular (I thought this was a great dining option not found at many eateries...)

For Appetizers we had the following items:

CRAB CAKES Seared crab cakes served over a summer veggie slaw & a citrus chipotle aioli.  The crabcakes were good and the pairing with the slaw and citrus chipotle made for an interesting combination of flavors!

MUNSTER FLAT BREAD Thinly baked garlic flat bread served crisp with ripe tomatoes, blue cheese crumbles, bacon & caramelized onions.  This was quite good!  Perfect snack to share while drinking and talking.  Cripsy bacon make everything so much better!

NANA'S SAUSAGE ROLLS A blend of Irish sausage, onions & spices rolled in a light pastry, then baked & served with deviled mustard.  I enjoyed this very much...perfect bite sized morsels to eat with all the other appetizers.  Many times better than the best "pigs in a blanket" you've ever had!  Recommended!

PotatoLeekSoupPotato Leek Soup Thick, hearty and NOT salty.

    For our Entrees we had:

GUINNESS BEEF STEW Certified Angus beef braised in Guinness beer & slow cooked With barley, baby portabellas, carrots & onions in savory gravy. Served over diced Yukon gold potatoes. "Guy Fieri's Favorite 2010" - This dish was very filling and satisfying!  The beef stew was very tender and flavorful and the gravy just delicious!  Some gravys tend to be salty but this one was perfectly seasoned.  I asked for a bead to dip in the gravy and by the end of the meal I was stuffed.  Will definately order this again and will recommend this to anyone (especially now that the season is getting cooler!)

ARTHUR'S FISH & CHIPS Fresh Atlantic cod dipped in a crispy Guinness beer batter. Served with fries & tartar sauce.  The cod was nicely battered and light in texture...and not greasy at all.

DINGLE FISH PIE Fresh Atlantic cod, shrimp, salmon, diced potatoes & peas in a garlic seasoned cream, crusted with cheddar cheese. "Guy Fieri's Favorite 2010" - This dish was good, and the seafood in the cream sauce was a very good combination.

RIBS Fall off the bone, tender, and nicely seasoned.

Service:  The service at Culhane's was good even though almost all the table during dinner had patrons.  The waitstaff knew the menu inside and out and was able to explain dishes very thoroughly to help make a good dining decision.  The attention was great - when I ordered a scotch, the bartender came out of his station to verify my order!  We did not have to wait for our drinks and dinner was served in a very timely manner.  Mary Jane, one of the owner-managers, was very hospitable.  By the end of the evening - between drinks and dinner - we were there for about 2 hrs., not realizing the time had passed.  What that means to me is that we all enjoyed the ambiance, food, and hospitality of Culhane's.  Would definately recommend you to visit!

Great true Irish Pub owned by sisters from Ireland. All the dishes are great. Reubens, Shepherd's Pie, cornbeef and cabbage are just a few fantastic meals. Highly recommended.

Went to Culhane's yesterday for a quick bite and was a bit disappointed.  The decor is great and very pub looking with the woodwork and the browns and hunter greens.

I ordered the Lamb Sliders and won't do so again.  The Lamb flavor was good and gamey, but the meat was overcooked and the aoli sauce was too mustardy for my taste.  I can't believe that this is one of Guy's favorites.  But, alas, I must remember that he is a burger guy!

My buddy ordered the Reuben Rolls and they were great!  Why is it that whatever the other person orders is always better tasting than your own?  The only complaint that I had with them was the dipping sauce.  They took the traditional Thousand Island dressing and tried to put a twist on it.  The result was to spicy and vinegary for me.  Some things just shouldn't be messed with.

I will go back and try other things on the menu and get in on happy hour which I hear is great.

Corned beef and cabbage is good here, but I like the Euro's Mac n Cheese better.   Penne pasta with a cream cheese sauce, garlic and chives.  Yum!

The service here is ok, but I wasn't impressed with the service or in house catering when we had a large party (30 people).  There was very little discount with the event we had planned here and the food took forever to be served.  When the chafing dishes came out containing our buffet-style dinner, the dishes did not all come out at the same time.  As a result, we ran out of food in a very short period of time.  Not a great experience, some people at the event ended up ordering their own dishes because the wait was so long.

I think for small parties and drinks this is a good little spot.  I do like the menu selection more than some other Irish pubs here in town as well.

My husband and I were staying in downtown Jacksonville to attend a four day conference, and while searching for Irish pubs on Yelp I saw this place listed, and thought we should give it a try on our first night in town.

The drinks and service were awesome, and the owner of the restaurant and her trainee were very attentive to our needs all night.  I had the lamb sliders which apparently were featured on Diner's Drive-ins, and Dives a few days before...who knew?, and thought they were "okay."  The sliders were bit dry, and I really didn't taste any lamb flavor at all.  These were listed as small bites, and came with no side, so I ordered some fries a.k.a chips...which were amazing!

My husband and I also shared their whiskey wings, which were great, and he ordered their fish and chips which he thought were great.

The only reason I'm giving Culhane's a 4 of 5 is I haven't got much experience to write from when it comes to Irish pubs or pub grub. I had only ever been to McKnight's in St. Augustine, and MY how  I miss it so much (God rest Roy ). I truly found a great fish and chips (and soo much more) place!
I'm uploading a few pics of the two visits I've been- enjoy. I have to say I love the environment, the music there, the ambiance, basically everything- especially their consistency in excellent service, great prices and hospitality!
I know the location is a bit odd, yes its in a strip mall- but I like that! I love going to the beach but hate having to walk six miles to go eat, so this works. Please sisters and staff of Culhanes, don't change a thing??
