I used to come here often when I was younger and the food never dissapointed. I moved away for 10 years and recently returned for lunch; I was dissapointed. This is not the Curley's that I remember from years ago. The food was a titanic dissapointment. I got the nachos, which I recall being top notch, but the chili was awful as was the salsa and the onions were just way too big. The Curley fries, which I nostalgically recall being a favorite as well, just seemed ok. My guest had the steak sandwhich, which she liked, didn't love, but I had a bite and found it bland. I think I will give them one more shot as I used to love their taco salad as well and if it doesn't go well for a second time, I doubt I will return, as they are clearly not the same place since the fire.
Review Source:My wife, son and I stopped by for dinner. Â My wife ordered Shrimp Mozambique. Â It came over white rice which was sitting in a load of grease. Â The rice was not tasty as the grease was overwhelmingly affecting the taste. Â I ordered the steak tips and there was just not an inviting taste as it was also on the white rice but did not have the Mozambique sauce over it. Â It just tasted bland. Â My son got pasta with butter and that was fine. Â In fairness, I have ordered lunch sandwiches at Curley's in the past and they were always good.
Review Source:Good local restaurant to go to. Not the best service, but sometimes you get either good food or good service and I would like both, but I'll slightly take better food each time or why else would I be going there. I've came here a few times and could never figure out why this place wasn't ever busy. In Taunton, this can be easily one the top 5 restaurants in town, but it's Taunton and not Boston, so its not the greatest or best eating experience you will ever have, but if your looking for a good local spot in your town than this is it.
Review Source:We stopped at Curley's for a business lunch and it was okay. There was a decent sized menu but I thought some of the salads seemed boring.
I tried the Buffalo Chicken Salad anyway and the buffalo chicken wasn't bad. The lettuce was wilted, a little saturated with dressing, and everyone else's lettuce was the same.
A pub may not be the best place for a salad and they may make other dishes well, but I'm a believer that all menu items should be done well.
I have never really understood why people love this place. I have been there a couple of times for lunch and the food is okay. I have never been a huge fan of the place, therefore, I would not suggest going. I could get better food at a chain restaurant or make this food at home for the same quality if not better.
Review Source:Apparently, I'm a fan of pubs...and Curley's is one of my favorites!
The place is warm, inviting, friendly, and just plain hospitable. The staff makes it so. The food is always good. I should say that this is the new and improved Curley's as the original building was devastated by a fire a few years ago and we were Curley-less for a couple of years, but they're back and just as good as I remember.
They have most of the same fantastic staff and the menu is nearly the same with a few new additions (bonus!). Some of my favorite items are the buffalo wings on the bone, potato skins, turkey club, bacon cheeseburger, fish & chips, and the baked scrod.
On my last visit, I enjoyed a new menu item - which is one of my new favorites - French Onion Soup. It was delish!
I'll always recommend Curley's to anyone looking for a great meal at a great value in a beautiful new building!
Curley's curly fries. . . yum yum! Â What a great place! Â After over a year's anticipation for this establishments re-opening I finally stopped by for lunch with a friend. Â Watching it rise up, brick by brick, over these past few months, made visiting here all that more special.
Although I was here late afternoon on a weekday, several customers had made their way to Curley's for a drink and some food. Â I sat at the bar and enjoyed a Sam's Cherry Wheat and an Amaretto Sour. Â The Amaretto Sour was TO DIE FOR, not to mention it only cost me $3.81!!! Â Perhaps I am jaded by the $9 mixed drinks up in Boston, but my jaw dropped at this ridiculously low priced delight. Â
Ate a cheeseburger served with a pickle and curly fries (surprised anyone?). Â Everything was great, though the sourdough bun I could have done without. Â The staff is extremely friendly. . . bartender Liz keeps the drinks a'pouring and the conversation lively. Â
I've driven by here at night, cars lined up and down the road and spilling out of the parking lot. Â Would LOVE to come here at night and check out the place/crowd. Â 2 floors, upstairs can overlook downstairs. . . seems like a jumpin' place at night. Â Will update once I've checked out the nightlife!
The Phoenix has risen from the ashes. This place is great. If you're in the Taunton/Dighton/Rehoboth area there is no classier place to grab a bite of food and alcoholic beverage.
The old Curley's pub burned down about 2-3 years ago and many things were lost in the fire including a painting that the owners grandfather had made. The staff got jobs at other establishments until finally Curley's was rebuilt. It was made larger and more efficient and now can house more people then ever.
The food was great, and quickly executed, and the beer selection was very nice. Since I went here a couple days after they opened they were testing some new beers on the market. And were going to keep the ones that sell.
There is a vast upstairs that allows you to look down to the stage on the first floor. There are tv's situated everywhere and the whole places is a pleasant wooden richy feel. I give curley's and their great service 5 stars, I couldn't ask for more.
