stopped here after a long day of highway driving. according to roadsigns there's not many places in that area of the highway to have a sit down dinner and a beer or two so we took a chance. since it was attached to a marriott we figured it must be pretty good, and it turned out we weren't disappointed. great service, great food (we had a build your own burger with some unusual toppings and the monterey chicken), and great drink selection. ithaca beer on tap clinched it for me. will be back when in the area again.
Review Source:My wife and son ordered burgers, I got prime rib. The burgers were actually good. Unfortunately, for Damon's my wife and son aren't yelpers.... Â Worst prime rib ever. Â I ordered medium rare, got a sad looking gray piece of imitation leather. Â I gave them two stars, because I think this would be a nice place to catch a game and burger, just don't go there for a prime rib. Â As long as you think of it as Red Robin with terrible French fries or McDonald's; you'll do fine.
I almost feel bad taking home more than half of it to my dog. If he was a little dog, I doubt he could chew it.
Added later: I attached a picture my 95lbs GSD struggled to eat my prime rib. Â I mean really, when a dog can barely chew through prime rib, there's an issue.
OMG first of all... Our server was from another planet. Messed up the whole order. Â I ordered a cheeseburger got a hamburger asked for a miller 64 got MGD there was more but what ever. I no matter how pissed I am always leave a tip, this is the first time ever that I left 1 buck just to prove a point. Now on to the food.. Well being the order was all messed up it was NOT cooked to perfection at all very greesy and not cooked like I had asked.... I actually got sick over night. NEVER AGAIN
Review Source:Don't let the negative reviews fool you! This place is awesome ! All the games are on for March Madness, they have some great drink specials and a new menu with some really good stuff. Try the new Buffalo chips. Steaks are amazing too. I ordered a Sirloin and thought I was given Filet Mignon by accident..... it's just that good!
Review Source:I was here a few times but stopped going. The food takes forever to come out. Many times it is cold. Twice I got chicken and the inside was still raw. I got a Blackened Tuna Steak once and it was a raw Tuna steak with about a 1/4 inch of Cajun seasoning dumped on the top. Too bad since I have been to other Damon restaurants and had good food. Not this one, keep driving.
Review Source:We were staying in a Hotel nearby and it had been 10+ years since I had eaten at a Damon's. Â Thank God! Â We ordered the sampler chicken wings were pink in the middle, there was a huge chunk of plastic in our sour cream (it was the tip to the squeeze bag of sour cream) staff seemed more interested in other staff and staff that was dining there than the actual customers. Â There was no one seating anyone? Â We actually had to yell to the manager one time that people were in the lobby for over 5 minutes with plenty of open tables all around? Â Flat screens were plentiful, but the speaker at our table was dead. Â We had a couple of toasted sandwiches (I have to assume they were suppose to be cold sandwiches on a toasted roll?) they were ok at best. Â French frys were suppose to have cheese on them... Oops forgot that. Â Had to make another order. Â Wait staff were constantly bitching to other staff and local customers about how everything sucks... Time for a new menu, new help, new attitudes or a bulldozer!
Review Source:The beer selection was good.  Plenty of TVs for watching sports.  The food was  disappointing.  They used to serve warm, buttery garlic rolls when you came in.  They either stopped doing that, or else our server didn't give us any.  They gave us tiny plates for them, but no rolls.  Dinner entrees come with one side only, and no salad.  Do not order the mashed potatoes.  They were terrible.  Ribs were good, but the prime rib was bad.  The food was too expensive for the quality.  Years ago, this used to be my favorite restaurant, but I don't think I'll be going there again.
Review Source:I visit Damon's when I am in the area visiting my mother. I recall it being much better than it is now.
My mother and I went there for lunch last week. The service was very friendly. The restaurant itself is very nice. Lots of huge TVs and I am sure great on a game night.
My mother ordered the hamburger and fries. The hamburger was done perfect and was very flavorful. I ordered the seasonal berry salad. How can one not make blueberries, strawberries, and greens taste good? Well Damon's was able to accomplish just that. I took 2 bites and could not even stand to take another bite (which is why I ended up eating half my mom's burger).
So folks, stick to the burgers and you should be fine. Do not stray to the unknown.
3 stars because they had sweet potatoe fries and they were delicious!!!! Â But the rest of the food is just okay. Â Service was good, very large sports bar restaurant, a bit dated. I hate to be sexist but it seemed more like a guy place...beer, comfort foods, and big screene TV's...hence "sports bar"!!
Review Source:Worse than expected. Â I had eaten at a Damon's near Cleveland which was pretty good. Â So after a quick drive through Hazelton, it looked like this was the best bet (sorry Hazelton). Â The food was so-so - not as good as my previous Damon's experience. On the good side, service and atmosphere was good.
Review Source:This is a fast food joint that tries to appear to be a family restaurant that "cares." But, lets start with the caring, loving, attentive, waiter service"Hello, anybody here!," we shouted after a few minutes, it felt like an abandoned coal mine - sorry not to knock the dire straits that these hard working people are going through in Coal Country PA - but I had to use an example that we all can connect to. Finally, our "gentleman" waiter showed up, took our order, disappeared for 10-minutes and came back with our water and Cold Ice Tea............. we ordered. he disappeared for another 10 minutes, we asked a second waiter if our Order was coming, she disappeared and after a few minutes are waiter came, delivered are "cold food" and disappeared for another 10 minutes. I had a simple, chicken, Caesar salad with blue cheese and some other condiments. It was well, OK, if you were eating it in a McDonald's for $4.99. But, not for the price they were charging. The side order of French Soup was decent, and the Cheese melt  perfectly incasing the bowl.  In al, the place was not a good place to eat.  Maybe a bad day, but as a customer who has a bad experience the first time around, it is hard, really hard, to go back. Â
Oh, our waiter did come back two or three times after I finished my meal, smiling, happy, looking forward to that 15% tip...........NOT.
Decent bar and grill, with good food and a good selection of beers...
A tip: From roughly 5 til 7, they have a FREE buffet with a ton of finger foods! One of the best deals in Hazleton right there!
Everything else has always been average to above average, and later on they have reduced priced apps, which is always nice!
Ehhhh, typical formula chain Chilis,99, type joint you'd see at any mall built after 2004. Atmosphere was ok, typical generic sports bar with character of any airport or hotel restaurant. Food was medicocre and was slow to come, house special onion straws were room temp. Food was bland and average.
Waitstaff was polite and effecient but had no personality and never asked how the meal was (luckliy, or they knew better). Good place to go if you are desperate or just finished shopping with 5 fourteen year old girls at the mall and need a shot while they eat appetizers.
