A fabulous find. Delicious food. The chef came out to discuss the Fire Beef dish my husband had ordered. He told us how a neighbor had brought in peppers from their garden and what a difference it made in the sauce. He was so proud of the dish as he should have been. Full of flavor with just a hint of heat, the meat incredibly tender. The ravioli stuffed with spinach and ricotta was perfectly Al dente in a vodka sauce made with the peace vodka distiller on the premises. Again each flavor was delicious and spot on!  The salad was divine with wonderfully fresh and tasty vegetables. Sweet carrots and delicious greens. All of the dressings are homemade, the blue cheese gas fantastic. Great and friendly service and live music. We will return!

I had the Fire Beef. What Flavor!!!!  My wife had the Ravioli. Same comment!  The Beers were Great. Music was Great!  Peace Vodka a must. I'm really lost for words here. Chef came out & talked with us. Shared with us the peppers a local patron gave him for the sauce used in the Fire Beef. My only concern is. Will he keep giving him those PEPPERS they grew. If not I'm sure he will find some just as good. We will be back. It's only about a 1.5 hour motorcycle ride from house.

We made reservations for a table of 8 including my 5 year old son for 1 pm on a Sunday.  When we got there, nothing was ready and they were completely unprepared.  Took 10 minutes to get any attention from our waitress so we sat there with no menus or anything.  When she finally came, it took even more time to get water on the table.  The owner noticed and went to address the slow service but nothing really changed.  At 2 pm we had not gotten our food and the waitress assured us that it was coming out.  10 minutes later we asked to speak to the manager but instead got the head chef who assured  and said our food was coming in 2 minutes.  5 minutes later he came out again apologizing and promising the food would be out in 3 minutes.  A very clueless young woman was wandering around with wings with no sauce asking if it was for us then walked away.  Then the chef came out and threw a small plate of calamari that we had ordered for the table out with no plates for anyone.  The manager was no where to be found and we were very angry at this point having been there for 1 1/2 hours with no food while everyone else seemed to be eating.  We demanded my sons fries which took almost another 5 minutes and left. The waitress was in the kitchen yelling at the staff and the head chef was very rude with to us  at this point saying "I said I was sorry, what else do you want?" The owner/manager was out in the parking lot flirting with bikers.  The prices were high for the area and the type of food but the fries were quite tasty.  Will NEVER go back.

    Beautiful building.

Delicious food in hearty portions at high prices suited for tourists and event attendees at Bethel Woods.

I had a veggie burger ($10) and asked to sub avocado for tomato - not an option, unless I wanted to pay an extra dollar. They do have great beer selection.

Small indoor space, great ambiance and decor/decorations to fit the theme and area.

This place is a must visit.  The staff and the owner are friendly and easy going.  Food is outstanding, and drinks are hearty.  Prices are very fair and service is exceptional.  I will be back there.  It just doesn't get any better for a restaurant.  Try it, you will love it!

Went after the kitchen closed for a quick drink with a friend. Bartender was friendly and patient despite my friend taking forever to finish his beer so we could head out. No complaints.

This place is right down the road from me and is really nice to look at as you drive by. It's one of the few establishments in the area that is well maintained and clean, both inside and out.

The food is quite good, but the portions aren't very generous, especially for the prices they ask. The prices are probably the biggest drawback in my opinion. $6 for a beer? $10 for a burger? (Cheese is extra of course!) This is the Catskills, not Manhattan. The appetizers barely serve one person, and they're all around $10 each. I understand the need to pay for all the artwork, live music, and additions they keep making to the business, but the prices are a tad high for bar food.

I would also appreciate a bigger and better beer selection. I was thankful they had more to offer than the typical "Budmilloors" garbage you find in the area, but more than 4 or 5 choices would be appreciated.

Overall, it's a good place, but it seems more geared towards ripping off tourists than pleasing the budget-minded locals in the off-season.

Sidenote: They make really good cole slaw.

I felt that it was important for me to review this restaurant as we almost stayed away from it on our trip to the Catskills due to the reviews on Yelp. However, a local bartender recommended for us to check it out at least for a drink and we are so glad that we did. Everyone we encountered in the restaurant was very nice. We found out that they had a new chef that just started the evening we were there, so for those who didn't enjoy in the past, it may be worth checking out again. We tried the Curious Mac & Cheese with Crab and it was AMAZING. (I am a mac&cheese snob) and I loved this. Then for dessert we had the chocolate chip bread pudding which was also really good.It was quiet the first night we were there but the staff told us before we left that we should try to come in on Saturday night as there was a Blues Band playing and even recommended a time to get there to ensure we had a seat. Saturday we talked about trying to eat somewhere else, but ended up going back to the Dancing Cat because the Mac and Cheese was just that good. When we walked in the restaurant the service staff remembered us from the night before and told us they were happy that we came back and then we were promptly seated . The service was a little slower then the night before, but that was to be expected due to how crowded they were with the performance. However, the owner was visiting the different tables just to ensure everyone was ok and having a good time. The food was again very good. My husband had the meatloaf and I wasn't as hungry so I tried to chicken wrap. We split the bread pudding again the second night. The blues performer was really good and woke us up after a tiring day of hiking in the Catskills. I highly recommend this restaurant especially to people visiting from out of town and want to visit the place of Woodstock which is right down the road.

Came back here just for drinks and the festival. The distillery is open, we tried their bourbon (bourbon is only bourbon in Kentucky), it was smooth and complex. Really awesome.

The service was better this time. There were tons of people outside...It was great. They've totally found their groove. It's great!

If this review were on simply the distillery tour and their Peace Vodka it would be 5 stars. The tour was informative and the bartender was friendly. The resteraunt itself, while not awful was nothing to stand on your head about. I had a cheese steak sandwich. It was pretty good though on the small size. The prices were a little steep. The beer selection was pretty good. Anyone else enjoy Duvel?

    Holy Deliciousness!!!
How this place does not have fives stars across the board is beyond me?!?!
My family and I drove to Bethel for our annual vacation and stayed at the Villa Roma Resort...
On day 3 we we drove by this place and decided to stop for lunch.
I have to say... I'm sooooo glad that we did because It ended up being one of our vacation HIGHLIGHTS!!!
The inside is gorgeous with amazing artwork hanging in every corner.
Our waiter was a young man who was as friendly and efficient as ever.
We started on the inside, but then decided to move outside instead and enjoy the gorgeous day on their beautiful wrap-around porch.
    THE FOOD WAS BEYOND DELICIOUS!!!!!!
Everything was from local farmers and I wish I knew how to upload a picture on here, because I actually snapped a shot of my brothers burger when it got to our table, because thats just how pretty the dang thing was!!!.
I'm a vegitarian and was hesitant to order a veggie burger, but THANK GOD i did!!!
Honestly, just superb, (my mouth is watering just thinking about it), and it was jam packed with flavor.
    The fries... HEAVENLY!
After lunch, we walked over to the distillery and was met by a super nice woman who told us all about their "Peace Vodka" and allowed us to try some samples.
    It was DELICIOUS!!!!
We bought a bottle and when I brought it home for my husband to try, he was upset that I had only purchased one!!!!
So sad that I have to wait another whole year to come back to The Dancing Cat, but so thrilled that we found such a gem to add to our annual vacation!!!!

We stopped by on Saturday for a bite to eat before the Ringo Starr concert at Bethel Woods and can't wait to come back. Our first stop was the Distillery where we enjoyed the Peace Vodka, then we walked a few feet to the Dancing Cat Saloon. When my dining mate asked the owner if the outdoor speakers could be turned on for a little music, she said "that's a great idea. I'm going to make that happen!" Before we knew it, she hooked her personal ipod to a speaker and we were listening to a great mix of music. Now that's taking customer service to a whole new level! Our food was very good, the service was attentive, the interior is comfortable and interesting, and the view from the porch seating is peaceful and relaxing. All in all, a great experience! We'll be back!

I really wanted to love this place after driving by on the way to Jeffersonville a half dozen or so times.

I finally convinced the boyfriend to stop for lunch on the way home (we always cook in when in town) and was surprised to find it pretty full at 2PM on a Sunday. I was bummed there were no outside tables available.

It was smaller on the inside than I expected.

When we sat down I noticed our table had a fair amount of crumbs on it.

The beer list was pretty good, I will give them that. Lots of local/New England brews with some international ones thrown in for good measure.

Service was friendly and fast, almost too fast. I didn't even have my beer 5 minutes when our entrees (chicken sliders, reuben) were in front of us.

I knew that wasn't a good sign. The sliders were actually tasty but the buns seemed a little stale and the fries were hardly warm. I don't think things are made to order.

I know it seems like I am nit-pickiing here. There was nothing ridiculously wrong with our experience, just a few little things that added up to not make it worth a return visit. For less money ($39 with tip for 1 beer, 1 soda, sliders, and 1 sandwich) I would have rather gotten my favorite thai takeout back in Westchester.

We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon for a bite.  It's off season and things were quiet.  The waitress was great; cheerful, friendly and attentive. The restaurant is adjacent to a distillery and they offer their own Peace Vodka.

I would describe the food as thoughtfully prepared, but "off."  We started with calamari, crisply fried and served with purple cabbage, walnuts and spicy thai sauce.  It seemed like overwhelming salt and sugar -- the thai sauce tasted like it came out of a Lee Kum Kee bottle, wasn't spicy, and the walnuts, while novel, added no flavor, just more fat and calories.

I had the veggie sandwich which includes cheese and portobello mushroom that aren't mentioned on the menu.  It had a pesto-type smear on the bread, unevenly applied and again too salty and overwhelming, leaving no veggie taste, and making the bread oily and soggy in places.  The skin-on french fries could have been good, but there were too many and too greasy.

My friend had the sesame crusted tuna.  Cooked well, but buried in a funny colored green sauce that screamed sugar and lime, then nothing.  And once again, way too much salt.  It was served with unremarkable rice pilaf and a sickly sweet cooked purple cabbage.

Sitting out on the porch on a beautiful spring day was a delight, I'd definitely go back next time we go to Bethel Woods, but there's still work to be done on the food.

When the Dancing Cat opened I was very excited to try it. From the outside it looks gorgeous especially in the fields of Bethel so near the site of Woodstock. Having finally decided to stop by for a bite, the inside is equally as beautiful. The decoration makes you feel like you are at home in your own dining room minus the fact that the tables are a bit cramped together.
The place was packed and it was only Thursday night, however this is the night for live music so I suppose that was the draw because I don't think the food is. This place is mainly a distillery not a food joint hence why I think the food fell flat. The names on the menu excited you a bit playing toward the Woodstock theme once again. We started out with the steamed clams which were bathing in a bowl or wet and paired with toasted bread to soak in the sauce. Clams are hard to screw up and these were good but there was so much wet which I didn't particularly love. Next for the entree I had crispy chicken sliders and my friend had the penne ala vodka. The sliders although perfectly crispy and paired with lettuce and tomato bits would have been better on a different roll other than potato. The penne was compared to my mothers perfect ala vodka and it really fell flat.
The staff was good although our waitress never checked up on us until we were done, its a bit understandable because the place was packed. Another downside was that I had to shout at my girlfriend to chat with her because it was so loud.
I wouldn't say the place was bad but I don't think I'll be going back. I am glad that I had a gift card. Hopefully the alcohol component will get them through. Best of luck.

Really disappointing. I was excited to try this place. The building is beautiful and they had a few good craft beers on the menu. However, it all went awry quickly: waited a very long time for our food. Our meals weren't cooked and were very bland. Very expensive. The owner came to our table toward the end of our dinner, but never apologized for the mishaps. Just a very unsatisfying experience overall. Too bad, I was really looking forward to it.

Lousy food. Horrifically overpriced. Surly service & the owner came to visit the table but never acknowledged that our order was completely messed up (undercooked scallops and other menu items arriving incomplete).  Our experience was a train wreck.

So, some friends and I were driving up to Sullivan County and I knew we a) needed food, and b) would need it late. I did some poking around  and when I hit on the Dancing Cat, I knew I'd found it. The website was a little... hard to navigate... but I found a page that declared that food was served late! They had a menu after the kitchen officially closed! Hurrah!

So we rolled in a few minutes before midnight.  There was a live band playing and the snow was falling outside.  A few of the tables had chairs stacked on top, and we didn't see anyone eating. We asked the bartender if they were still serving food.

    The answer was no.

After he saw how crestfallen we were, he offered to call a local restaurant to see if they would serve us; they closed at midnight.  The answer was no to that too.

We struggled to decide what to do with our hungry tears when the bartender declared that we could have wings. The cook was gone for the night, but, by god, someone would make us wings.

The wings were enormous and exactly what we needed. I washed mine down with a Dead Guy; there was also a nice Southern Tier IPA and an Ommegang on tap.  (I forgive them for the incorrect website info, because, come on -- who expects a bunch of idiots to wander into a country bar at midnight needing food at the end of January?)

We finished our meal with a slice of the cheesecake, which was fantastic (and made by an employee), and conversation with the owner (who also performed a lovely tune).  Our only disappointment was that we couldn't carry a bottle of vodka away from the distillery that sounded so good.

And to ignorant city slickers like us, we were pretty tickled to learn that Woodstock happened pretty much across the street.

One of the best restaurant/bar/venues I've been to in a long time. You rarely find a place that has such a great vibe, friendly people, good music and delicious food all in one place. The owner Stacy is great--very friendly. The place is charmingly easygoing; when we were there, she and some friends were eating one table over, and they took a break every few minutes to get up and join in with the guy playing guitar in the corner. The bartenders and servers were all tapping their feet and lipsynching along. Doesn't get much better.

Food delicious--get the meatloaf. Place is spacious

I will definitely be back if I find myself in this corner of NY again.

Great for any age, the owners are amazing people and live locally.   The Saloon has a wide selection of beers and spirits, and the entertainment is pretty amazing.  After we were done eating, it was refreshing to see a customer talking to one of the owners about playing drums, and then a guy who played guitar joined in and the three were jamming!

Cant wait for the distillery to open to sample some of the great vodka and other products.

History buffs:  The bar interior came from 500 Blake Street in New Haven.

It's 1130 on a Thursday night and I'm sitting At the Dancing Cat listening to a clutch of local musicians jamming on a blues progression.  The place is packed-probably four generations here, and a good quarter of the assembled have instruments; the rest are family, friends and maybe a groupie or two.  The bar is stocked with the kinds of craft brewed beer that would bring me here regardless of the music- but that's not why I'm in love with this place- and it's not even the music either, really.

What's extraordinary about this place is the community of musicians that has been cultivated by Stacy, a musician herself and the proprietress.  This is a real place, full of people who've come to make art together.  And here, just at the entrance to Bethel Woods ( the contemporary arts venue built on what was once Max Yasgur's farm) is maybe a taste of the anarchic, creative, utopian spirit that descended for three days on those fields.  If you're looking for Woodstock, skip the glossy museum and the perfectly landscaped gardens of Bethel Woods and come to The Dancing Cat on a Thursday night.
