I've driven by here many, many times over the years, but never stopped in until today.
The food was wonderful, portions were generous, and the price was very reasonable. Â This would have been a 5-star rating from us, if it weren't for the service.
Maybe it was because we were only a "couple" (everyone else that was dining there seemed to be a group, and I noticed that there were no seating accommodations in the restaurant for groups less than four), or maybe it was our age (we were obviously the youngest patrons in the establishment today - by many years), but our server was giving us the absolute minimum level of service required to call it "service"!
As an example, after we had ordered and were waiting for our food, we noticed everyone around us had bread baskets, and even heard the waitstaff asking other patrons if they would like bread. Â For some reason, we were not offered any of that delicious home-made bread, nor did our server even give us a chance to request it! Â No drink refills were offered, probably because we were not checked-up on while dining. It was all "business", taking the order, not making eye contact, dropping the bill, and turning away as soon as she could (maybe so we wouldn't ask for anything else?).
Based on food quality, quantity and value, we may try Das Dutch Kitchen again. Â Hopefully the service we received toady was not "normal".
as the others have said, this is real amish food.not the  tourist stuff. Our amish friend turned us onto the place.  the broasted chicken rocks. The potatoes and the salad bar get high marks also. If the cream sticks are not sold out buy a few. You will be back for more !!! They are worth the drive alone...
Review Source:Stopped for one reason... the bread and donuts. Wish I had bought more of the donuts because the Bumbleberry fry pie and vanilla cream filled maple bar were among the best I have ever had. The doughnuts are not the light and fluffy kind, so a glass of cold milk is a perfect complement. We also bought a loaf of white bread that goes great with the Smucker's jam we bought at the Smucker's Store and Cafe just down the road.
