We came here after a funeral. after hearing from locals about all the great places to eat in town. After a long, terribly emotional day, we were desperately in need of a drink and a bite to eat. Entering the place, we soon realized that we walked into the the middle of the televised Boston Bruins and Chicago Blackhawks game during the Stanley Cup playoffs. Our waitress, in training (so we learned) was perky, attentive to our requests and timely in her responses. The place was loud, of course. Two of us chose the Black Angus burgers and declared them delicious. The third member of our party chose the wedge salad and found it to be just OK (dressing tasted bottled). Personally, I think the menu leaves a lot to be desired for those who choose to eat more wisely. Would I recommend this place? Yes, but only if I'm in the mood for a quality burger in a really noisy pub.

I gave DC Cobb's a fair amount of visits after their revamp- only to be left underwhelmed and disappointed each time.  If it's not the lack of food in the kitchen (three menu items were 'out')- it's the mediocre food that is served or the watered down mixed drinks.  The only constant at DC Cobbs is the snotty service- seriously, we're in Woodstock people- bring it down a notch.  It's expensive, it's unimpressive, and I'll be damned if I'm dragged here again!

went to Cobbs last week as I heard they had a new menu. the menu consists of several artisinal burgers with assorted toppings, like marinara or mac and cheese with some interesting combos. my wife had the mac and cheese version and was very happy with it. big burger and comes with a side which in this case was a very nice potato salad. I got the boneless wings, which were tasty but lacked crunch for some reason. the new beer menu has some nice addtions like Dogfish Head and Allagash. there are also mac and cheese variations with several diffrent toppings available. all good gastropub style grub. Dan and Julius have doen a nice job with this new menu. I'll be back to sample more.

The restaurant has redone their menu to become more burger-centric.  A lot of their offerings sound amazing and food even came out looking amazing, but our orders were botched pretty badly.  I'm not sure if it was the order taker or the kitchen staff, but there are some big communication problems that shouldn't be happening, especially during a slow lunch hour.

One of the burgers, which was a custom order, came out wrong with the toppings as well as the side, and my salad came without dressing, and the waitress assured me it was already on there, but it wasn't.  We ordered sodas, but they tasted really strange.  I actually switched from one type to another to see if that was the problem, but the second drink was also off, so it might be the cups and/or what they use to clean them.  The sodas actually tasted like they had Pine Sol in them.  Also, for being a slow day, the orders took a really long time to come out, so don't come here if you're in a rush.

I have yet to be impressed with the food here, but we keep trying the place because Woodstock doesn't have too many decent lunch place options that are affordable, and the interior of the place is kind of nice.

the first time i ate here, me and my fiance ordered the pot roast sandwich to split. the waitress didn't even know it was on the menu and had to have us point to it. no biggie i guess. other than that, the portion sizes were good and the sandwich was AWESOME.

second time i ate here, my sister and i went and ordered the pot roast sandwich to split again. i was ranting and raving to her about how good it was so i was excited to have her try it. about 20 minutes after we ordered, the waitress comes over and mumbles something about the kitchen not being able to make it. ooook, would've been nice to know that 20 minutes ago? but whatever. she then mumbled something about comping the price of whatever we picked in replacement...ok. so i picked the pastrami sandwich......she then informs us THAT isn't available either???? um....WHAT?
so we ended up just settling with a burger because obviously the kitchen doesn't have....food.
the burger was good, but we really didn't go there for that. when we got our bill, nothing was comped for the trouble. lol- whatever
not knocking the food here, it's REALLY good. when they have it....
the waitresses are usually pretty weird. but if you can put up with that, you're alright.
oh, and the fish bowl sucks. waste of money. get something with ALCOHOL in it. ;)

Cheap drinks.  Nearby train.  Live music.  Good food.  Waitresses who change into sparkly clothes after 9pm.

That's all I have to say about that.

Well, Lets just say normally the place is fair to midland. I went there for a lunch meeting and came away pretty disappointed. There were 6 of us. 1 people ordered
ordered a regular item, 1 ordered a lunch special and the rest of us ordered there so called Mac n cheese. I asked the waitress if it was a decent portion she said yes.
So I thought for the $8 if it is good it will be worth it. When the 4 of us got the dishes we were all shocked at how small the portion was. At best it was a side order. The manager helped bring the food to us and i asked him if the size was correct and before I could send it back he quickly moved away from me. The four of us were done eating within minutes and watched as the others ate for 20 mins. For that much money and it is super cheap to make the should give you at least a portion that a person would eat for lunch. No the food quality was bad as well at least with the mac n cheese. It surely was Velveeta with crumbled bacon. Again super low quality for what you pay. Service was slow then are bill came and they realized they didn't charge for drink so we had to wait longer for them to correct the credit card.
I was surely disappointed in the manager for walking away and not stepping up.

We go every week and have been for over 1.5years now-fave local hangout, great location, great wait staff. They used to have biweekly (and back in the days, weekly!) specials that have somehow stopped in the past several months or so. Am hoping that management will bring the specials back and more often than once every three months (or however long the last one has been going on!) Try all of the appetizers-they're really good. They will even make stuff that's not on the menu (ie buffalo chicken sandwich on a pretzel roll, mmmm...) - now that's service! Love Jess and Chris!

It was our first trip to Woodstock, and we Yelped where to eat, decided on DC Cobb's for lunch. Walked in and loved it! Great set up, cute decor, delightful friendly  staff with prompt attention. We wanted to love it and rave about it. Ordered a few sandwiches (pot roast and turkey on pretzel roll) and kid's meals (pasta with red sauce and mac n cheese), came out, and... They were just so so. The red sauce on the pasta was really metallic tasting, thankfully the portions are big so the kids split the mac n cheese. Our sandwiches were just okay.
I will say that it looks like a great space- cute stage area for live music, great atmosphere, and again, really liked our server. Maybe a great place to have a couple drinks if we had the chance.
I don't know that we'll end up that way again anytime soon, but we will likely have a bite to eat elsewhere.

Great lunch options, and the best veggie burger in town (outside of Expressly Lesly's). Avoid the gourmet grilled cheese, it's a bit ... Challenging, if that's possible.

What a great joint.  It's a comfortable setting with great food and a nice selection of brew's.  It's reasonably priced and is great for a meeting up with friends or parking yourself at the bar for some sports.  I enjoy this place and hope to frequent it again in the near future.

Ok, number one I don't come home a lot but when I do you better believe my standards are bit different than they used to be. Having lived in NYC for over 5 years my taste buds have become a little more...mature. Stopped in to Cobbs after hearing about the new take over.

First off walking in I already good feelings considering the place was gutteded...thank god. Don't get me wrong I like a dive bar as much as the next classy lady, but I'm sure as hell not trying to eat there. This place is great because you can come for a drink or actually sit down at one of the tables and have a meal. I like options.

Now for the food. The Chorizo dip, sweet baby J. Creamy, spicy and a little something I like to call...actually I don't have a clever name but it's amazing. Next I got a burger, cause that's the speciality and if a restaurant recommends something you should probably try it, ding bat.

I also had a bloody Mary, Oh, yea, it was amazing and managed to take the edge off the terrible company I was with-always a plus.

Prices are great and I think next time I'll branch out and order me a special!

Finally I finished off with a heavenly piece of cheesecake. Apparently, they are all homemade and offer different ones each day. Worth it!

Thank you for putting a bar downtown that isn't a dive and not so stuffy I want to leave before I've even entered. Nice addition to the square. I also heard they have live music, haven't checked it out but rock on!

Yeah this was a decent local pub, I really enjoyed the downtown area of Woodstock. Some weirdo patrons inside, though that only peaks my interest.  It's clean, nice looking, and the servers were very friendly.  Nothing stood out to me in terms of distinction, but it wasn't bad at all.

I had a cobb salad and a bloody mary.  Salad was good and the drink was fantastico.  Just the right amount of spice.  Strange how some bartenders know exactly what you want with just a few words spoken of personal preference, while others still miss the mark even when given step by step directions.  I'd come here again for the bloody mary alone.

We stopped in for lunch today - on a Sunday at 1pm it was pretty quiet so we got seated right away.  The server was handling the whole place herself but even so service was quick all the way around.  I had the Burnout Burger, which comes with pepper jack cheese, chipotle peppers and a nice and spicy sauce.  I had asked for the burger to be well done but it came more medium well - it was still quite good and I didn't think it was necessary to send it back.  The husband had the Mac N' Burger, which is a burger with mac and cheese on it.  It sounded weird to me but he liked it and said the noodles give the burger a nice texture.  I also liked that they have Diet Dr. Pepper available, besides the regular plain old diet cola that most places have.  Like some of the other reviews, we also got the check before we were really done but it ended up being a non-issue for us.  Overall, pretty good.  Not necessarily a finesse place or fine-dining but good pubbish food!

Food was very good but service week. Partly due to it being mid afternoon, the server asked us to pay early, then left. So we could not get anymore drinks or water and nobody busses our tables. There was a bartender, however I think her friend were visiting.

I've been here twice once with friends and a second time with Co-workers. The first time I went I believe they had a new cook because the food just seemed alright. The second time I went I got the standard Cobb Burger instead of the Mac'n Cheese Burger and I do need to say that the Cobb Burger was delicious. Aside from the food the atmosphere is very clean and roomy. I would definitely recommend this to anyone in the area for a good burger. As for the Mac'n Cheese Burger I feel like it needs some heat so whip out some hot sauce if you choose to try it.

Considering that I had just come from Chicago, I wasn't expecting much but D.C. Cobbs came pretty highly recommended. They didn't disappoint either. I came in for a quick dinner last Sunday and upon "checking in" earned a free appetizer coupon. Always a bonus! They have a pretty good beer selection and they made all the food from scratch in house. I cannot remember the name of the app that we had so let me give you a brief synopsis of it. Mashed potatoes, bacon, cheese rolled up into one and deep fried. These things were intense! I was in love with 'em. The aioli was pretty weak but that didn't stop me from devouring them. I also had the meatloaf and I thought it was great. That takes a lot for me to say because I swear that my father makes the world's best meatloaf. This was seriously on par. No joke. It came with some green beans and more potatoes. I wished that I could've swapped my side of mashed because I had just eaten those fried potato things but hey whatever. My lady had a burger and couldn't shut up about it so it must've been pretty good too.
I dig it for sure and when I'm back in Woodstock in a couple weeks I will be found saddled up to a drink at the bar.

I am replacing my original review because of the new menu... According to list, Stuff White People Like, white people like expensive sandwiches and Wes Anderson movies. I am a white person, so I do like these things. Two other things that white people enjoy that are not on that list are craft beers and Artisan Hamburgers.  With DC Cobbs' new menu, we can all rejoice. (Non-whites are welcome too. I checked with management after seeing some enjoying the same things white people enjoy.)  I guess there are 24 beer choices on tap or something like that, I'm not sure.  For my money, the Farmer burger is as good as any burger in McHenry county, and all my other favorite burgers are in McHenry county (The Tracks cheeseburger and Duke's Ale House's Vegan Slayer). And I've had most of the burgers in Chicago that people rave about, i.e. Kuma's Corner.  I've had several other burgers at Cobbs and they are all delicious, but I keep going back to the Farmer.
This place is also a good venue to see live music. They have a collapsable stage and a nice sound system.

live locally and been there 3 times since "re launch". Food, not too good but not the worst in town. Service: at table, spotty but fairly friendly. Bartenders, not good, they are uninformed, rude just lazy.  Even when we went in during the day, spent the whole time chatting with friends at the end of the bar instead of waiting on customers.  I CAN SAY ONE GOOD THING, they are open on T day, since they are the only ones open, we'll prob. go there so I may have an update, hope its good. If you want authentic, great food and very very reasonable prices GO TO MIXTECA ON ROUTE 47.  Best kept secret in woodstock besides Leslies on the square. Unfortunately, not open on T day.

I was going to D.C. Cobbs well before they remodeled a year or so ago.  I have been back twice since and I was very very impressed. Great food; prices were great; waiters have always been awesome. Food is upscale bar and grill food. Sandwiches, salads, apps.  Great place to stop after a round of golf or lunch with the wife.

My only issue are the TVs. They are placed so they are hard to watch from the ones tables. You have to crane your neck. Put the TVs in the corners or angle out from the wall towards those watching it. Then they are playing music and no TV volume. One or the other please.

After going horseback riding, we wanted to eat something healthy, as the day was very exhausting and the temperature was extremely hot.

We all ordered salads.  Each were very different, refreshing, tasty, and huge.

Wonderful atmosphere, great company, great service.  Too bad we have to go way out to Woodstock to get it again!!

If in the area, I would go back!!

I can see myself visiting this bar often if I lived closer.  Friendly and attentive staff.  Relaxed atmosphere.  A large variety of drinks and expansive menu.  Rustic brick décor that gives it a nice Chicago loft atmosphere.

My biggest concern with this place was the quality their of meat.  It seemed excessively fatty.  If they get that fixed...then this place would rock in all categories.

I used to frequent DC Cobbs years ago.  I was in the area recently and stopped in there while killing some time before my train back to the city.  I was happy to see that they have remodeled.  They've kicked it up to more of a restaurant feel than just bar.  I have yet to try the food, but I plan on coming back when I have more time and checking out their menu.

This is a pretty good venue to see bands at.  The area where the stage lies is not huge, so it can get a little crowded if I remember correctly.  But nothing too out of hand.

There are many places in Woodstock that are worth checking out, and DC Cobbs is one of them.
