I went with my girlfriend to the Zumba after Dark at the Double Door and had a great workout, a sweaty workout with great music that lasted over way over 60 minutes. The bar was really nice to give us icy water as with dance our butt off. Â It was nice to be back in a club feel with a little space to dance and just had fun without getting pick up cheesy men.
Review Source:I recently attended a Zumba After Dark and afterWERQ fitness party at the Double Door in Wicker Park with a girlfriend and we had a great time. Â I was intrigued by the concept and skeptical at the same time. Â Working out at a bar/club seems very counter-productive--boy was I WRONG!
Definitely a great workout---75 minutes of booty shaking fun! I liked that they used super upbeat recent latin and pop/dance music. Â Because we were at a venue without the bright lights and wall to wall mirrors it was definitely a different feel. Since there was a stage it was easy to see the instructors. The venue was nice in that the bar was open (although not thinking it would be a good idea to get tipsy while trying to work out)--the venue did provide cups of ice water for the participants. Â
Because this was a bar/club venue--the flooring surface can be questionable at times--there were a few divets in the hardwood floor that I fell in a few times--but hey--since it was dark--no one noticed :)
At this particular event there were probably about 40-50 women there, still plenty of room to shake it without getting in anyone else's way. Â Admission can be paid at the door or in advance online via paypal (cheaper if you pay in advance). Since this was during the week and relatively early (about 5/5:30pm) street parking was easy and also easily accessible from public trans as well.
Ideal to meet up with your girls, get your workout on, grab a few drinks and then meander to any of the many eateries in the area.
