a great place to go for live music any night. as they say, they "do it live 365!"
hosty is a local must see, as is travis linville if he's playing.
its a smokers bar so just a heads up to all you non smokers that may not like that type of thing.  if you can take it its definitely worth it and for what its worth its really not that bad.

I consider the deli to be the only live music venue in Norman. Yes, hosty on Sundays is always a great time, but the deli has live music every night! I love catching new bands at the deli. I like their LITs and red cups. LITs are the cheapest and fastest way to get drunk.

The best night to go to the Deli is Sunday night, when Mike Hosty (the one man band!) is playing. Every Sunday, he puts on a great show for a fun crowd of people to party with.
And once you're there, get your self a red cup and have a good time.
You don't get the complete Norman/college-town experience until you've experienced The Deli and Mike Hosty.

I was directed here after asking the door man at the strip club around the corner where to get some cheap drinks. At first I was pretty hesitant to enter, but was pleasantly surprised after paying the $5 cover and walking in.

The Deli looks nothing like a deli on the inside. Instead, it pays homage to old school saloons with all sorts of crazy wooden chairs and benches all over the place. The place is not a huge bar, but was extremely packed with college aged kids. One trip to the bar and I figured out why.

    CHEAP DRINKS.

I'm talking $5 for a shot of Jack and 2 Red Stripes. Good God that's cheap. Just keep in mind that they don't serve your higher end stuff, like Hennessy, Belvedere, or wines. Oh, the music here was actually really really good too. There was a live band on stage that played everything from Thievery Corporation (!) to 50 Cent (!!!!???). You'd think that mix would sound horrible, but the band that was playing pulled it off extremely well.

The only 2 knocks that I have on this place are that it allows smoking inside (and there was pretty much no ventilation, so that smoke lingered) and that some cute drunk ass girl spilled half of her beer on me. Other than that, if was somehow found myself back in this neck of the woods, I'd definitely hit The Deli up again for some fun.

the deli has exceptional live music.
if you can get in to experience it.
    the venue is quite small.
be prepared to smell like an old ashtray and soco lime shots when you depart.
oh, and if you happen to make it inside for the summer, there is no air conditioning.
so try not to pass out while you are enjoying your lukewarm red cup.

This is one of my favorite bars to go to in Norman. I go about twice a month depending on who's playing.  The Deli has been around forever it seems like.  "Live Music Every Night" is their slogan and they deliver.  You can see all types of acts.  Local Bands mostly, but, for instance, I saw a really great reggae band from Austin last weekend.  There is a cover charge for the bands, usually $5.  And they have the best deal around for beer.  $3.50 buys you one of those those large red cups they serve at Mexican restaurants, FULL of cheap and tasty Bud Light.  There is not much better to me than seeing bands with cheap beer on a hot summer night. As an added bonus, this bar is still smoking...which makes it convenient for us smokers.  Say hello if you see my wife and I there!

Stopped into this place during the week while on travel for work looking for a place to grab a drink.  I paid a $5 cover becuase there were 2 bands playing that night.

For during the week, the place was pretty packed.  I assume it had something to do with the bands (one band was 4 guys playing what looked to be African drums).  Drinks were priced on average with the area.

I plan on stopping into this place again just becuase it seems to be the only place in Norman that draws a crowd (more than 20 people) during the week.
