Denny's is perfect for exactly what is is meant for, providing cheap, filling food. During my visit, my food order was handled poorly, the  waiters were rushing and careless, and on top of that two of the busboys were loud and obnoxious. Apart from the service the only issue was, the eggs I got were cooked incorrectly, the toast I got was not the type I ordered and I realized they had been giving me regular coffee after I had repeatedly asked for decaf.  If the price wasn't so cheap I wouldn't have given it two stars.  If the waiter had at least given me the correct meal, I would have happily given it three stars. Not terrible for the price but don't expect perfect service.
Review Source:We were on our way to San Diego and decided to stop at our favorite breakfast place, Denny's. Â We have been to many Denny's Restaurant, but this was the worst. Â Here is why:
We were seated, I asked for two booster seats for my kids. Â The server quickly brought them over, but had not cared to wipe them down. Â They were sticky from pancake syrup and were stained with dried milk spots. Â I didn't make a fuss. Â I took out a wipie and wiped both booster seats myself. Â
Our server took our order and i ordered a grand slam. Â When the server brought out my plate there was a big slice of grilled ham on my plate. Â I quickly told the server that I didn't order ham..he said yes he knew but the kitchen made a mistake and I could have it any way. UUUUMMM, problem is that I don't eat ham.... so he took the ham off of my plate...the grease remained..yuck...then our hash browns came on a separate plate..and they were so fried on both sides..almost burnt and again super greasy..at this point i told the server to please make me new hash browns.
Our experience was not good here....we will not give up on Denny's....but we will give up this location.
we were at Comic Con in San Diego and stopped by here on our way back to North Orange County. Â Â I wasn't expecting anything special, (t's Denny's. Â But, what we got was a waiter that was FULL of ENERGY and that was breathtakingly refreshing. Â I don't think that I have ever had better service at a Denny's. Â If I am ever in that area again, I will definitely be stopping by for a late night visit!
Review Source:Walked in to restaurant was obviously busy. Had 10-15 min wait for table had 2 counter spots open. I sat at counter spot and after 10 minutes had not been acknowledged. I got up and left while I was walking out I noticed to 2
other gentleman at counter had been waiting for their food for a long time. I am a regular at this restaurant and have been happy but I have noticed lately things just keep getting worse.
After a long day at SeaWorld this was a great way to end the day. The t-bone steak with fried shrimp was delicious, and the new chocolate peanutbutter pie with whipped cream really hit the spot. The coffee is great too, after a cold, overcast day. I knew that these ocean-side Denny's are a different breed of restaurant. The food for some reason tastes better than inland Denny's.
Review Source:This is Denny's, so I don't expect anything great. And it's just that - average, filling when need be, reliable when you get the late-night munchies. Being the only 24 hour diner in San Clemente, Denny's will be here for you at 2:45 am when there is absolutely nothing else to do. Their milkshakes and cheese fries will be enough. Their service isn't the best, but come on, who wants to work the graveyard shift? And at that hour, do you even really care about the service?
Bottomline, this place is great when you're hungry and breakfast and greasy American food never sounded better at 3am. Their milkshakes and overall vibe might not be on par with that of Harbor House, but if you live in San Clemente and you're not feelin' the freeway when it's late, Denny's will be there for ya.
Went on a weekday morning in early fall. Food was okay, although some dishes were undercooked or had cooled from sitting. Wait times were unacceptable.  Staff was nice, polite, etc. but clearly didn't care much it was taking over an hour from ordering to get dishes out. Saw several tables walk out, some waiting at door also left due to wait. This was only one experience on one random day but, judging by the blasé attitude of the staff, it seemed to be standard. I won't be back to test my theory.
Review Source:Brilliant place! I go here each time I head down from LA to SD! We noticed it first off the freeway. I love that they kept the old school Denny's sign, soooo legit! Servers are reallly nice and friendly, plus the food is ducking brilliant! Go to this place, it's lively, fun and quick (like my ex).
Review Source:Spectacularly bad food, no kidding! Had two ten dollars double cheeseburgers and the meat tasted terrible and the bread was stale and plain distasteful. I use to think that diners burgers were a step above than fast foods but Denny's managed to change that belief. Coffee seriously mediocre, the other two dishes, one senior omelet and one waffle with scrambled egg were as plain as day while the price a little too steep for what they got. Service given by Diane was nice and she in no way is included on the downward spiral of Denny's from what it used to be?
Had to say, glad I did, but if anyone is an AARP member they offer some very nice discounts. I know is not the gourmet mecca of the area but , seriously folks, if you are going to spend around $50 dollars for lunch, can a person expect or even demand something better for the dollars spent? 2 Stars.
You have to be a fan of Denny's come on now. Where else at 2am are you going to get the greasiest nastiest eggs and paper thin bacon to heal your progressive hangover?
I had not had Denny's for a over a year when suddenly, I found myself in the back of the limo in San Clemente and desiring some food, at 1:30a. Its amazing where you will go and what you will eat at this hour. Since Mexican is usually the requirement but there were no taco places to be found we settled in on this Denny's.
Here's the weirdness. Location is directly off the I-5 with a huge freeway sign and here we are, 1:30am and the only peeps in the place except for the workers. You mean I can have all the leftover grease on the flat top just for me and my party? Oh----delicious!!
Its Denny's, bland food, served cheap, made to look better on the menu then when it shows up and served by people who absolutely don't give a crap and don't want a real job.
Denny's, when there's nothing else to eat!
whether seven years old or thirty-three years old...things never change when visiting family...denny's for breakfast...mostly for coffee and snacks...weekend nine am visit...not packed and a booth available...an order from $two meal...biscuit with sausage gravy...hashbrown for side instead of the egg option...overload of gravy and fairly standard...biscuits little dry, but soaked by gravy...still love the golden perfect hashbrowns...soft moist center and crisp outer...for $two, can't complain...requesting the skillet for second order...large cube-cut potatoes...egg, sausage and vegetable toppings...not a favorite, but order by other...ask for gravy on the side for next visit...$fifteen meal for two...
Review Source:I had a really good experience here last night (or should I say this morning?) I had gone up to Hollywood to go clubbing with my girlfriends for Halloween, and decided to head back down to San Diego the same night (don't ask why). I had to use the restroom pretty badly, so we stopped at Denny's (conveniently located right off the freeway).
I dash in (someone was even standing at the door to open it for us!), and we're immediately seated (of course, it's 2 AM). The waiters are SO nice. I was in the bathroom for two minutes, and waters and menus were already down by the time I got out. Everybody had genuine smiles on their faces, despite the fact that there was a steady stream of drunk Halloween party-goers stumbling in and out of the restaurant. I couldn't help but notice how clean the restaurant was. We ordered a Grand Slam and the Los Lonely Boys burger- I love the unsalted fries!! The rest of the food was delicious, too.
The parking lot is a little small, but so is the restaurant. I'll definitely be by this place again. Even though it's a chain, this restaurant definitely left a special "hole-in-the-wall" feeling. We pull out of the parking lot and get straight back on the freeway, heading back down towards La Jolla. The entire process only set us back 30 minutes.
Off the Interstate 5 freeway you can spot a huge vintage Denny's sign. Since I travel to LA frequently for the in-laws, I view this sign as my halfway point into the City of Angels.
But this place is not a great place, more like a hell hole if you ask me. I have been here a few times in my lifetime (I care to admit) and have always been really bugged out over the lazy service and attitude here.
It was X-mas day coming home and the family was hungry. There are not that many places opened, which I was hoping Carrow's was down the street. Unfortunately hungry stomachs and the search for food forced us literally to this joint.
Yeah I know it's the holiday, so I wasn't being pushy on the service. But when the server offers a better commitment to give your first coffee or water quickly, you know your already in the crapper because the waiter is already behind on the basics.
It is freaking cold outside and do we have to remind others with our beanies, scarfs and jackets that coffee served to us would help for seconds, perhaps thirds?
At least drop of some creamers because I don't like my coffee black, maybe my women. But really, I tried hard and their service didn't. My order was wrong, but I didn't care. I was hungry, upset and didn't want to get out of my the holiday spirit.
When leaving in disgust I had to drain the lizard and read handwriting on the urinal walls. Â One mentioned about "Rob" and his fellatio talents with his personal number. Â Next was a child humor at it's best: "I rather eat a penny then eat at Denny's".
