Destinations

We stopped in here on a Saturday night in February and the place was crowded. They have a new chef and we wanted to try it out again.

I had the ribs, half a rack, which was a nice ample serving and was delicious. The accompanying squash was in big chunks and completely without flavor, and the mashed potatoes were extremely dry. All in all, a mixed review, i guess. We'd hoped for better overall.

The setting is very comfortable and pleasant and the service was quite good.

Located in the gated, upscale community of Pelican Preserve, Destinations is a cozy bar and restaurant offering well prepared meals from Wednesday through Sunday brunch.  It is open to the public but you have to check in at the front gate when you enter Pelican Preserve. On our first experience here we tried the spicy grouper special. Two large portions of delicately fried fish with a distinct spicy finish were delicious and served with "just right" french fries.  The only thing missing was the coleslaw.  Destinations never seems to be busy except on Wild Wednesdays (5-7) when the bar fills up for drink and  appetizer specials.  Our next experience will be the Sunday brunch.
