Chipan Express

in an attempt to eat at a non-chain restaurant around my parent's neighborhood, we decided to try chipan express (which is actually spelled chipan xpress on the sign). in hindsight we should have been clued in on it's mediocrity by the TERRIBLE NAME (i get it, you make both chinese and japanese, but the attempt at brevity makes it sound like you're serving monkey meat on a conveyer belt). after collectively cringing we decided to reserve judgement and headed inside.

we ordered pork with garlic sauce (hostess recommendation), hunan chicken and pork lo mein to go. once home we all agreed - meh. the pork in the first dish had an almost jerky like quality to it and the sauce was more sweet than garlicky. my parents were both equally let down by their dishes.

overall i'd say it's not as bad as panda express, and it's probably the best chinese you're going to find in this area, BUT i'd rather sell out and eat at cracker barrel.
