This restaurant is by far the best in the area, not just orwigsburg and you all are crazy for disagreeing. Everthing is so flavorful and made with the best ingredients. The entrees, pizza, salads, and desserts could'nt get any better. This is as good as Italian food gets. You get so much food and always have left overs. I always compare every restaurant to this one, because of how amazing it really is. You wouldnt expect it, because it is in the small town of orwigsburg and is a small quiant cafe. my favorite things to get are the crabcakes, baked mozz, shrimp scampi, and pretty much any pizza. the crab cakes are made with real crabmeat and not stuffing, the baked mozz is incredible and so addicting, the scampi is absolutley amazing and full of flavor and the pizza is the best around. Also, there is a nice atmosphere, a welcoming feel if you will. along with that, a young cook came to talk to my table the other night named jack and was very charasmatic and seemed was very interested in our opinion on how everything was, not to mention he was quite handsome ;). This is my favorite restaurant and everyone really needs to try it!
Review Source:We had reservations at DiMaio's Mustard Seed Cafe for 7 PM we arrived about 6:55 and our table was ready and waiting for us. Not many people here approx. 4-5 other tables of 4 or less patrons sitting and most of them already served. We sat down our waitress came over and seeing we had our wine with us asked if we would like glasses and water. When she returned with our water and sodas she took our orders for our meals. We laid off the appetizers but oour goup either opted for the salds or the Italian Wedding Soup. I had a sald and it was an abundant salad with lots of greens onions and black olives a couple of tomato wedges. The Soups were cup size but the ones who had the soup reported it was delicious.
The main courses for our table were Chicken Parmasean (my wife's fav) Â 3 plates of stuffed flounder and I had the Chicken Florentine.
Everyone said their meals were prepared very well and were delicious. I enjoyed the Chicken Florentine also. The chicken was very tender and the spinach was a nice fresh large leafy cut and served over spaghetti with a light white sauce.
The atmosphere of the Mustard Seed is quaint pizza restaurant style.
Okay so now why 4 stars instead of 5? Well actually it would have been 3 stars if the quality of their food wasn't so good. The reason is the prep time and how long it took us to get our meals. We sat at least 30 mins maybe more from the time we finished our salads till we got our main courses. We watched people come in after us sit down get meals and pizzas eat and leave before we got our meals. I admit we had a party of five but a table of 4 came behind us sat down and got two dinners and a pizza ate and left before we got our meal. I've worked restaurants I know how long it takes to make stuffed flounder chicken parm and chicken florentine and spaghetti. Sorry to say this but the Chef here was getting things done out of order. Unfortunately it brings down their rating a wee bit. This won't stop me from returning DiMaio's Mustard Seed Cafe is a wonderful little place to eat and they make quality meals. Their waitstaff is very friendly and it's a pleasant little restaurant.
Enjoy your meals here just hope that the wait between courses we had was an exception.
We will be returning again!
Good pizza and nice entree's. I have had the take out pizza. I'm not a big pizza fan but it was decent. And I've eaten here for lunch a few times. Entrees are just right, not too big or small. I have had the pasta here several times and love the marinara sauce. Small but comfortable. Good service.
Review Source:DiMaio's Mustard Seed Cafe serves some of the finest Iltalian cuisine I have ever had! Â While traveling from Chicago, some friends from Kempton took us here. Â The chef/owner Jack, and his wife and sons, are all very cool. Â The food is exquisite. Â
Linguine with clam sauce, chicken marsala, and fettucine alfredo were all a big hit. Â The best dish was the Trio Parmasean: Â breaded chicken, eggplant, and shrimp parm over linguine. Â
Their maranara sauce is famous, so be sure to ask for the marinara instead of regular sauce. Â DiMaio's also sells jars of the marinara for like $3! Â When we walked in, the shelves were stocked. Â When we left, we bought six jars and the shelves were near bare. Â People were coming in an out all night for the sauce and cannolis to go.
The cannolis! Â A hint of lemon in the filling, and tiny teeny chocolate chips. Â We were dreaming of them for days. Â
If you are anywhere near Orwigsburg, be sure to stop in at DiMaio's.
