Our large party of 7 people was served by a friendly young man. Food came up quickly and we were all pleased with our meals, especially the crabcake hoagie. My stuffed shells were nothing to write home about but the portion was very generous for the price. The hot wings were very good. I didn't try the pizza but my friends seemed to enjoy it.
Review Source:Pizza was ok and everyone agreed. Everything else well.... they left that up to me to be the 'bearer of bad news'.
We ordered 2 pizzas. The pizza crust and sauce were good - the toppings not so much. The mushrooms, tomatoes and spinach were all from a can. You can't fake canned.
We ordered the appetizer platter. I read 3 chicken nuggets...Ok fine. 3 nuggets and then you open the container and want to cry. Omg where in the world did it become ok to sell DINOSAUR CHICKEN NUGGETS??? Was it a Sams Club Special???
No joke here's what we got........ 3 dinosaur chicken nuggets (and if you have kids you know how ridiculous this is), 3 previously frozen jalapeno poppers (I know this cuz one was still cold), 3 mozzarella sticks (can't say anything cuz we already know they don't make anything of their own) and then they filled it with "potato wedges" another non homemade item.
No one complained about the pizza. Crust was good and the sauce was alright.
Hate to give it a bad name because Port is home now. Never thought I'd say this but it makes me miss Jarrettsville.
food is awesome......if you eat in, it's great. if you call for carry out/delivery it's the worst. i have ordered carry out several times with lies after lies. after three phone call lies, we asked to talk to the owner and they told us he was delivering out food in person. that wasn't the truth. Â they no us as good customers and i hate to write bad about any business but after so many deliver screw up's i had to say something !!!!! the jenkins
Review Source:When visiting Havre de Grace we were looking for a place (via Yelp) that had great reviews. Sadly, most places only had one or two reviews, and/or the reviews were bad. So when we found D'Lorenzo's it was a bonus that it was pizza. Here is my only drawback, you have to pay $6 to get over the bridge to get there!
But onto the food and drinks. They are a pepsi place so I stuck with Lemonade. My husband had two Yuenglings. We started with onion rings as an appetizer. The beer batter was fabulous and the rings came out quickly. Next up was our pizza. We got a large pizza with pepperoni and green peppers on the whole thing, mushrooms and black olives on half. The pizza was fabulous! The crust was a nice middle ground between crispy and chewy. The sauce was great too - a little sweet, peppery. My husband commented on how you could tell it was real tomatoes because there was some tomato skin. He also loved his mushrooms on the pizza. We decided to box half the pizza and try the "cinnamon balls" - so glad we did! Little fried dough balls with powdered sugar on top. Then on the side was a container of cannoli filling with mini chocolate chips. The basket of cinnamon balls was very large and we left feelings super stuffed.
Other notes: there is lots of parking in the back. We didn't realize that when we got to town, so we parked on a side street, but it was nice to walk around after dinner. The service was fabulous. The only true downside (since obviously they can't do anything about that crazy bridge toll) is that there was group of boys running around the outdoor seating. I don't expect church quiet when I eat, certainly not at a pizza place, but I also do not enjoy boys running up and down the stairs and yelling.
Overall, if we ever find ourselves in the area, we would definitely come back!
Cheap fried food that doesn't taste like cheap fried food...pretty awesome.
We took Route1 up to avoid the extortionous toll on 95 and decided to take 222 back down (as we were going to Elkton). Â I thought that 222 would be more scenic (it's not, really), but we drove through Port Deposit, which is a really cool quaint town. Â As we were passing through, we decided to stop and get some lunch. Â Checked Yelp and the place we originally decided to try was closed so we strolled in here.
It's nothing special. Â It looks like any sub/pizza shop with an attached seating section. Â But this is the best pizza I've had since I've been in MD. Â I don't know what they do. Â It's not gourmet. Â It's just regular pizzeria pizza, and it was non-greasy (even though we had bacon on the pizza.....hmmm....bacon) and the crust was great. That's all we should have ordered, but my husband ordered a crab quesadilla and it was good as well as fried mushrooms, and they were good. Â The things we had that were fried were fried to perfection without excess oil and the pizza too was without oil. Â
I'm really happy we stopped here. Â The drinks are limited to pepsi products (which I hate so I had apple juice) and beer.
Best pizza around!!! Â Now that they have moved up the street to their new location we frequent them much more often. Â They have a bar and two dining rooms along with the outdoor deck, with views of the Susquehanna River, where they sometimes have live music.
The food is homemade and out of this world!!! Â Homemade pastas, bread and pizza dough (which is baked in a brick oven and to die for!!). Â Try out their homemade canoli...it's addictive!! Â Can't forget about the staff...very fun and friendly!
The pizza and stromboli are to die for and the staff behind the counter are friendly. We often enjoy it with just cheese, no extra toppings. We make sure to drive down and pick it up as the pizza is its best when right from the oven (opposed to delivered).
Another great choice besides their sandwiches is the stromboli. The large size is HUGE. I like the "regular" the best, but have had the fajita and chicken one. The side salad is also nice with the ham, cheese and other things added to it.
They just recently bought a new building, a block away from the old shop, so there is more room with seating and a bar.
Their sauce in the chicken fettuccine and spaghetti is an acquired taste so it is not for everyone.
"Hey buddy!"
This was the greeting I'd get everytime I'd walk into this small mom & pop pizza joint on Main St. in Port. Â I lived across the street from them a few years ago and they were always happy to serve. Â It's one of those places where they are happy you're there but are not all falling over themselves to keep your business. Â They don't have to because they're good people with a good product and that's all they need to be. Â The food is always good, Â the specials are generous. Â The inside dining can be cramped because it's a small space but they have a few small tables outside for proper people watching in Port Deposit. Â
There is a public parking lot next to them so parking is never a hassle
