Not bad.
Except that we had to eat in the lounge area because the main eating area had a bad draft of frigid air. It made for an interesting meal though...sitting on ottomans and a couch, slouching over to reach the food on the low-standing coffee table. But hey! There was a fireplace!
The flat bread (the Cuban and the somethingorother chicken) were pretty tasty. A good crunch, a decent amount of softness, nice flavours, not bad at all. We also got a hot sandwich. I don't recall the meat (pastrami?), but the marbled rye bread that it was on was so, so, so soft. Probably the first time I've enjoyed that type of bread. The small square plate of potato chips was a little ridiculous though. Enough for one person and we were four.
The wine was great. I'm happy to say this, as they have one of the biggest selections of wine in the MD area (I believe). We ended up leaving with a $10 bottle of some of the best pinot noir I've had to date.
All in all, the experience was decent enough, but it didn't hold any 'wow' factors, so a 3 it is!
1 complaint. When you've ordered lunch and a few tastings of wine I would think they would give you a thimble taste of a wine you wanted to buy from the store, AND was already opened. But, our waiter wouldn't budge and said we had to order a 3 oz sample. Didn't think that was very accomodating when you're buying other bottles.
The lunch was much better than I expected. We had faltbreads that are ample for lunch and both were tasty and fresh. I really like the concept of 3oz pours and 6 oz pours in order to try the wines.
Good selection in the wine lounge/store next to the restaurant. Found some wines I normally don't see here in PA, but then again we have beloved "state stores", so that might not be saying much.
If you're in the area, it's a nice spot with good food and if you like wines, the selection by the glass is wonderful. Just don't ask for a teensy tasting, it won't happen.
