Stopped in for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Â This time I had one of those impressive looking Bloody Mary's. Â YUM. Â Did not disappoint.
A trend I'm noticing at Doyles - it takes a while to get your food. Â Plan on waiting at least 30 minutes. Â Hubby had the Guiness Chili and I had a BLT Wrap. Â 30 minutes from ordering until the food was at the table. Â Also, it's a bit pricy for what it is. Â My BLT wrap was $10.99, other wraps are also $10.99 (which I can't understand why a grilled chicken sandwich is cheaper than a wrap). Â
I felt really bad for the table next to us. Â 5 people dining - placing their order when we were being seated. Â When we left, they STILL had not received their food. Â Plan on being extremely patient for your food to arrive, or in the mood to dine at a leisurely pace.
Despite the above, I'll stick with 3 stars. Â A-Ok.
Well I see that there are not many reviews (8), and half are 2007-2009. So the reviews need serious updating and some positive shouts.
We live in Schaumburg and go there 2 -3 x a year for last 3 years. It has always been a positive experience regardless of day. ( we have usually gone Sat. Or Sun. afternoon. Â Our most recent visit was Friday afternoon.
on this visit, I got the Beer battered cod with hush puppies, cole slaw, and optional potato pancakes. Â It was the lunch portion and I was very pleased. The fish was very tasty n not over cooked. The potatoe pancakes were amazing.
My usual order is the Ruben, billed as "the best outside on NY City", and it is not an overstatement. Consistently, outstanding sandwich.
A word about SERVICE. Â It has been consistently prompt, attentive, friendly and helpful. I can't imagine getting better.
In the past, we have the fresh made soups, and other sandwiches. Â Al have been good choices. Â The chilli was good but a bit salty for my taste,
Highly recommend to all
