Hello Drip.
Happy Hour ?? Yes, please and thank you.
We were pleased with the prices and selection. The waitress um nah so much but thats ok. She meant well just not the brightest crayola in the box.
Crawfish were tasty and spicy.
I will be back at some point. Bud light Platinums were on hand too!!
Not overpriced drinks. (my favorite part)
Decent size tv screens for a club or lounge, whatever it is.
Bartenders in corsets, booty shorts and leggings.
Open doors/windows with light a/c running...so ladies, expect the humidity and salty air.
Strawberry Mojito $8---Fricken Fantastic!!! Comes in a big circle glass--think pimp glass. Other flavors available.
They have power hour. Dont know what time it starts but it ends at 11. Inquire about it.
I think it has to be the swankiest place for drinks on the island. Â The prices for drinks aren't that bad but there a little high still considering your in Galveston. Â The staff aint nothing to bark at, I think you will be happy with what you see. Â
I didn't particularly care for the people that were there, but if you have your own group you can pretty much ignore them. Â I would say give it a shot if you are looking for something new and different while you're in on the island.
Drip is cool, tries to go for that pseudo-upscale lounge thing as far as decor and ambiance, but overall its nice. Â I notice they have bottle service, which is funny to me since this is Galveston, but it would be a neat place for a small party, especially in the summertime. Â Drip is kinda small, occupies two floors behind the Spot, however every time I've been there no one has been sitting or working downstairs (but i usually go on mondays when its not likely to be busy). Â I like the upstairs better anyway, because you can see the water, and of course in warmer months they leave it open air, so you get a nice breeze. Â I usually go for happy hour, which is from 3-7 Mon-Fri. Â They have half price appetizers (oysters! Â mozzarella sticks! Â wings! Â etc), as well as well drinks and draft beers for a couple bucks. Â A couple of flat screen TVs usually turned to the game. Â And they also pipe in fairly decent music, though its not really a place to go dance (too small anyway - two floors but very little floor space, and when the couple of booths are filled people kind of just stand around and talk). Â Decent customer service from the corset-clad bartendresses, like i said they're trying to evoke that lounge-y feel and i can appreciate the effort :) Â I could IMAGINE that with the right DJ on a Saturday night during the summer, Drip could be a really cool addition to Galveston nightlife. Â But either way, not half bad overall as a place for a few drinks after work or on a weekend if you're visiting the island. Â Also a nice alternative to the family-oriented or biker-oriented noisiness that tends to be the Spot.
Review Source:We checked this place out on the soft-opening weekend. It's the same ownership as the Spot and right behind it. Think an upscale "Spot" and you are right on target. The seats by the patio/porch/edge get a nice breeze and remind me of the sister bar I am staring at from above. Spot version 2.0, but no bikers in here.
There are flat screen tvs, girls in scantily clad outfits serving drinks, and a dress code. Again, no bikers in here.
The prices are right on though. 10 bucks for a beer and a Jack and Diet together. I like this. The Spot lacks liquor service so here is where Drip bar makes up. Anyplace that serves a Jack and Diet for 6 bucks or under gets automatic points from me. (H20, please take notice, and yes, Tsunami with your 4.50 Jack and Diet, I'm all over that like white on rice, well....unless you are brown rice, for which, conveniently I am brown)
The downstairs was empty when we showed up so I have no idea what the plans are there.
This place was cool, and with the breeze from the Sea, felt pretty nice. It was a good change of pace and definately will head back there for a drink or two. Maybe a good place to hit for a couple drinks after a nice dinner. Not a place where I'd get too crazy though.
Looking for a little more swank on the Island? Check out Drip.
After a pleasant dinner at Mario's, the bartender overheard a conversation about my dismay for some of the treatment we received from bartenders--and a certain cab dispatcher--during our Gtown getway. She suggested we check out Drip; two of her friends worked there who she reassured were cool *and* it was their opening night. How could I miss this FTR moment? (Shhh. Don't tell the dude. Some peeps just don't get it.)
Drip is under the same management at The Spot and is located right behind it. Walk through the chaos and fried-food aroma from The Spot, over a walkway and to the front door of Drip. It's an open area bar ... think "a really nice ice house" without the garage-style doors.
The bar was illuminated with a golden glow from the yellow tiles, flat screen TVs showed the NBA Finals, music varied from rock and pop to booty and hip hop ... and the bartenders were indeed friendly. I forget our gal's name, but she was the tiniest thing who whipped up some fruity shots for our filled bellies.
A fair amount of liquor selections can be found on display (though, they don't have the setups to make chocolate martinis), and they serve Shiner. Cheers to that!
Drip does have an upstairs area, which I didn't venture up to, but I did check out the scenery from the open area. And they do have bottle service. Keep in mind that they do have a dress code on the weekends, so don't expect to waltz on in wearing flip flops and shorts.
