What a great restaurant! Â I learned of this place from an employee of a nearby hotel I was staying in. Â It was about a 15 minute drive, but well worth it!
I had the Lobster Stuffed Ravioli which came in a wonderful vodka cream sauce with lump crab meat. Â It was amazing! Â They also provide a generous basket of bread that comes with roasted garlic and fresh herbs in olive oil for dipping. Â
Give this one a try, you will not be disappointed!
We were a party of 5 on Saturday night, 8/4/12. The restaurant was pretty full. The staff barely looked at us, but we were out for the evening so we were not that upset. After 30 minutes it was a problem. After ordering, our first course came 45 minutes later then each course was about the same When my dinner came after waiting now about 1/1/2 hours, it was wrong and the waiter argued with me and later admitted the kitchen made a mistake and said it would take a few minutes to make the right dish, however, they brought out the same meal, now cold., We entered at 8 pm and left at 11:10. To make matters worse the air conditioning was not working and after complaining 4 times you would think management would at the very least for the extreme heat, poor service and bad food.
If you are in business and have seating for 100, you should be able to service the 100 patrons, no matter what time of the year it is. I for one, is not just a summer visitor, I spend half my time in south Jersey and would never go back to Due Amici to pay for the abuse . You cannot survive in business and think they are only tourist. Tourist talk to others and I am talking to you.
Spare yourself, dont go not worth your time.

Made a reservation for Saturday night and our party of six was seated promptly. Took abouyt 10 minutes to get water and  a complete set up. Our waiter  pleasant, but very busy. Finally took our drink order..
Dinner for six - with one galss of wine,  salada and entree came to about  $180.00 before tip ! Salads  were good, most of the entrees were served wam not hot.  Ordered Pasta, and or veal dishes whihc ranged in the $19.00 to $23.00 range.
Very noisy and witht the piano /background music  adding to the din hard to talk..
We might go back - after the "season" but feel there are better restaurants  that offer a better value  and food for the amount we spent.
Food was good but not worth coming back for. they nickel and dime you, with extra $ for Gorgonzola cheese on salad...$19 for veal picata with nothing with it...$3.95 if you want a side of pasta...come on....how cheap can you get. Terrible acoustics, loud large table on one side, obnoxious woman on the other side spouting f__ this and f_that. We had bought their offer at costco but much better value at other Italian restaurants in area. Wait staff needs some polish also.
Review Source:Food here gets a zero, because I didn't get to eat it. Â Despite having reservations, this greedy place overbooked and forced us, and other families, out of their doors on Christmas Eve. Â
We had reservations on Christams Eve at 7:30pm. Â By 8:00pm, the place was packed shoulder to shoulder like sardines, with a line flowing out the door into the freezing cold. Â Talking to other patrons, growing weary of standing, I found that most had reservations up to an hour earlier and had just been standing there, waiting, with no answers from management. Â Family after family started to leave en masse, some of us venturing down the street to Simko's (a lifesaver) for a much better experience.
Look, I've actually eaten here before, and the food ain't half bad. Â It's pretty good Italian. Â But it's unacceptable to manage a restaurant this poorly. Â Due Amici, you're DUE for some comeuppance. Â People will figure out that this place is unprofessional and they'll stop coming.
We gave Due Amici another try today and I was impressed. They recently spruced the place up and it looks good. Our meals were excellent. I had the veal piccata. It was done to perfection and the portion was right sized. My better half had the chicken pepadu and there just aren't enough superlatives to describe her reaction. For dessert I'd highly recommend the toasted almnond tiramisu (out of this world!) Or waiter was just right. I only gave 4 stars because of a previous night so good experience. They're going the right way. Overall, it's a winner.
Review Source:After a few more visits to Due Amici recently and really enjoying both the food and excellent bar service I'm upgrading their rating to (4) stars. Â Maybe it's the kinda place that just grows on you or just perhaps I missed the boat in the past but this place is solid.
Extensive menu with huge portions - you will often see dinners sharing a main course. Â But, the real treat is that they will go out of their way and make you a dish you desire that is not on the menu.
The new owners over the past two years have transformed Due Amici into probably the best Italian dining at the Jersey shore.
Huge portions, relatively low prices, earnest service.
The quality is good, and everything you could want in a "red sauce" Italian restaurant is on the menu. I mean everything!
Personally, I like a place with a little more creativity, and with a better selection of salads. But that's not why one goes to Due Amici, so my complaints aren't really fair. Due Amici isn't trying to be "New Italian." It's an old Italian place and the crowds like it just that way.
The clientele is made up of a large number of regulars. The hostess kissed and hugged half of the people at the crowded, large space.
If you can eat everything on your plate, you've obviously missed a few meals prior to going!
