I kind of hate to write this review but I really can't rationalize any more than two stars. Â Let me start by saying that this place has great potential. Â We stopped on our way up to mammoth because we were too tired for the 2-3 hour dinner experience of the Still Life Cafe next door. Â This place had great reviews so we figured it would be fine. Â I ordered the pit style beef and my husband ordered the grilled chicken. Â The soup and salad came quickly. Â The house-made blue cheese dressing was good and my husband enjoyed his clam chowder. Â Our iced teas were refilled promptly. Â Dinner was the problem. Â It took a bit over an hour between sitting down and receiving our dinner entrees. Â This was too long in my opinion but I could have gotten over it if the food was any good. Â My pit style beef was a pile of dry luke warm shredded meat. Â The okie potatoes were a wet tasteless mess with barely cooked bacon. Â My husband's grilled chicken was raw. Â That bird bled deep red when he cut into it. Â He sent the chicken back for more cooking. Â It came out 15 minutes later still raw, he sent it back again. Â Three times the chicken was returned and it came back still bloody (not a little pink but bleeding!). Â By the time it came back the third time we had been there for 2 hours and gave up asking for the chicken to be removed from the bill. Â They did give us a slice of pie for our troubles and the pie was good. Â I will probably give this place another try hoping that it will be better and I can change my review. Â But until then this is the best I can rationalize. Â Based on our experience I do not recommend the pit style beef or the grilled chicken. Â The soup, salad dressing, pie and biscuits were good. Â Not a huge fan of the beans (too sweet for our taste but they may appeal to others).
