We were in the area visiting family and on our last day, we had breakfast at Jenny's. I ordered ham steak, eggs and hash browns. What I was served blew me away! I figured the ham would be a pressed ham steak. Oh no. This was a huge thick slab of ham cut from what they use for spiral cut hams. Absolutely amazing. I also had a choice of toast or muffin. I chose the muffin. What I got was a warm, just out of the oven blueberry muffin. We also took home a freshly baked blueberry pie.
If you are in the Bishop or Big Pine area, forget about the touristy places and drive the 15 minutes to Independence. Even the jam was home made. Jenny is quite the cook, and a very sweet lady. Truly phenomenal. You will be happy you did.
I stopped in at Jenny's Cafe for breakfast on my way up to go hiking in Onion Valley and I'm so glad I did! I had the short stack of pancakes and fruit, toast and coffee. Everything was great and it was made exactly the way I'd asked. I also ordered a tuna salad sandwich to take with me on my hike and they were super nice to make the sandwich just right and wrap it up real well so it wouldn't get all mushy in my backpack. The very nice lady who waited on me was super friendly and helpful. I will definitely make Jenny's Cafe a regular stop when I'm in Owens Valley!
