This is hands down, the BEST haunted house I've eve been to. Every year we go to a different one and nothing compares to dungeon of Doom, in length, performance, effects, acting and scare factor. A few years back we went to Dream reapers and were terribly disappointed. This year we also went to Realm of Terror and didn't get scared one bit. This house takes the top prize, not sure why anyone would give it less than 5 stars.
We went on a Saturday night and the line wasn't even too bad. There is a bit of waiting outside, but once you get inside, it's warm and you're not standing out in the cold. the line actors gave us some decent scares and the line flowed pretty well.
You line up in groups, like a roller coaster, and each group goes in separately. The crown flow was excellent...never ran into another group until the maze at the very end.
They scare you with 4 of the 5 senses here, not just a bunch of actors jumping out at you. there's smell, sight, hearing, and touch, as well as floors that move, an electroshock room, and an amazing 3D section that has actors and props all in 3D.
The ultimate experience ticket gets you on both floors, it seems endless instead of a quick 15 minute jaunt like most these haunted houses. You have 45 minutes worth of scares, a great deal at just $25 a ticket The "buried alive" experience is scary if you are claustrophobic in any way, so it's best to avoid if you are prone to panic attacks (they warn you ahead of time).
Props and Special FX- top notch, best I've ever seen in a haunted house before. A lot of work went into creating this place, no doubt
Actors- not just some teens in scary makeup, they really act. A few rooms the actors looked like actual statues until they came to "life". Best was an actor disguised as a chair in one of the rooms. Totally spooked my friend!
I've seen other haunted house overuse the strobe light effect, but theirs was just at the end, but it was bright enough to at least see our way around. The idiots at Realm of Terror overused this effect to the point of driving someone to have a seizure. The two mazes at the end were killer, just off the charts.
The amount of work that went into designing this place is just mind-boggling. this is now the haunted house that we compare all others to. Not sure how anyone could give this one star unless they are a total ass.
Go there. You will not be disappointed. I plan to go return tomorrow...and most definitely next year.
I'm torn about this haunted house. I paed to go through all the stuff which is more expensive, but I think if I just paid for the regular level it would have been  dissapointing. The opening scene was really cool, especially when the metal ceiling thing fell. I also liked the room where a guy shot himself in the head. My group got split up for that so half of us saw a different room. For some reason I don't like that because I feel like I missed out on something, but thats just me. There was also a girl in a doll mask that split the rest of my group up. I liked that about this haunted house because when most haunted houses seperate you, you meet up with them again right away. Here, you actually get seperated, haha! I liked getting burried by all the balls too but couldn't help but feel unsanitary. So overall I liked it, I just didn't like how much it cost, and that anyone only paying for the first floor would have gotten maybe 1/4 of the experience.
Review Source:What a waste of money, no one was scary! The fat clown guy was funny but the rest of the characters in the line were terrible. The inside of the haunted house looked cool, but again the acting was god awful. I remember when the Dungeon of Doom was at the Grayslake Fairgrounds, they used to have awesome actors in the lines and inside, they were so much better back then. Well all the good actors are gone and it seems like they are more concerned with showing off the building they are in and buying on fancy stuff, instead of spending money on good actors to fill the haunted house
