El Jimador seems to have a two-tier menu, one cheap and filling to please the local racetrack goers and another more serious "home country" style. My favorites are the amazing sopa de pollo, with fresh lime and avocado, and the flawless molcajete which comes in a sizzling stone mortar. Although I have found Rio's a bit precious and pricey, I love to return to this down-to-earth spot. The specials are often fantastic. I once had a whole tilapia slow-cooked in onions and tomatoes that blew my mind.
Review Source:The Canandaigua area sure loves it's Mexican-style restaurants and this one doesn't disappoint. Â The chips and salsa are refreshing and definitely taste homemade. Â I usually order the fajita quesadilla which is really just a quesadilla with steak strips and cheese. Â While the food here is not quite as fresh tasting as Rio, it's less expensive and arguably more filling. Â Definitely a favorite by the locals!
Review Source:My off day's of veganism are really catching on..... I feel like a vampire feasting once a week on prey.....with that being said, I couldn't pick a better place to feast. Â The mexican food here is complete money. Â I have one complaint though, and the reason for a 3 star rating. Â i believe the pitchered margaritas could send a non-diabetic into a insulin shock. Â I seriously have never tasted a drink so sweet. Â It was like drinking liquid margarita flavored fun dip....one glass and I morphed into Wilford Brimley. Â
I came here on recommendations of my good buddy, and I am not disappointed in the least. Â Just view your drinks as a dessert and it is even more enjoyable.
