Heber Springs is a long way from the culinary metroplis of Little Rock (ha!) but El Rey had great service, great food, and the prices were very fair. I had the carnitas plate and I honestly can't remember the last time I had such good pork. Plenty of chips and salsa whenever we ran out. I'd definitely go back for more.

I'm really impressed. I've been in town all week and tried a couple of other Mexican places in town. One was good, one not so much. This one is the best though. Their salsa is the best in town. The fajitas had so much food that I could barely finish it and it was well seasoned and cooked perfectly. The rice and beans were somewhat boring, but they have been everywhere in Arkansas that I have tried. Give this place a shot, it's good.

I give them four stars for being the better Mexican restaurant in Heber Springs. Recently painted festive mexican the setting and service are excellent for Heber Springs. The food is large quantity and above average for this small town. The price is cheap and they're always open so give them a try.

What an excellent restaurant. We were impressed with the service and the food. I had enchiladas and my husband had the chili relleno.  The cheese sauce was superb. For such a small town it's worth the trip.

Have to say I didn't expect much from a Mexican restaurant in a small town in Arkansas - but this place was a pleasant surprise. There were six of us- both our daughters and their boyfriends. One of the guys said the fajitas were some of the best he's tasted.

My chicken enchiladas were delicious with spicy cheese sauce and plenty of chicken. Everyone in our party was pleased with the food and the service was attentive and eager to please.

    We plan to go back.

This is as fake mexican as you can get.  The only good thing is you get a good amount for your money.  I did the lunch buffet for $5 bucks and you got to pick about 6 items off the menu.  I could only do 4 items: beef tostada, chicken taco, rice, and beans.  The tostada would've been good if it wasn't so greasy.  They did not even try to drain the fat from it I think.  The rice and beans was so so.  I liked the chicken taco the most, which is saying something.

If you want quantity, this will fill you up but not in a good way.

Great, genuine Mexican food in an unexpected place. They take their spice seriously! Try the queso- delicious!
