We  have been to El Rodeo in Edgewood and Towson.  I have found the food to be consistently good, the wait staff attentive and the $3 margarita can't be beat! Â
I especially like the fish taco and the Baja fajitas. Â You will enjoy it too. Â Our server Megan was great. Â Could not ask for better service with a smile.
Horrible. Â Horrific. Â Terrible! Â Very bland so called Mexican food. Â Ordered fajitas and shrimp tacos. Â The fajitas lack any authentic spice. Â The shrimp tacos boast of red cabbage and perhaps 3 petite shrimps in each taco (only 2 tacos for the price of $13.50), cold WHITE rice (uhhh, wheres the spanish rice), and a "mixed fields" salad (which consist of ICEBERG lettuce, a ringlet of red onion and a cherry tomato). Â Truly disappointed. Â Perhaps we should had taken heed at the "NO GANG COLORS OR GANG SYMBOLS" signage @ the entrance . . . .
Review Source:I have been here before. The food is good but tonight i went for Happy Hour. There was a singer who was SO LOUD you couldn't hear or talk. Worse he wasn't very good at singing or playing. His song selection was strange some original, Beatles (poorly done) and some newer. Anyway, I won't got to another Happy Hour there unless I confirm there is no singer scheduled.
Review Source:We have visited many times since El Rodeo opened. In the beginning it was a bit touch and go, mainly due to poor service (mainly from one waitress we kept getting stuck with). However, over time they have become a force to be reckoned with in the world of Tex-Mex cuisine. The owner Neel takes great pride in his establishment and it shows.
The bar is outstanding, offering nontraditional options and great specials during happy hours. Try the Mango Mojito or the Mangotini. My husband loves the Margarita's. If you're in the mood for something different, ask Neel to create a special drink for you. I have on several occasions and every request has been a home run.
Our dinners have been very consistent and extremely flavorful. The Chicken Tortilla Soup is to die for. From the tacos to fajitas to chimichangas to quesadillas (we tried nearly everything on the menu), we have never been disappointed. There are many varieties to dishes offered, so you will never be bored with flavor options.
The decor is great (fun and festive), the restaurant is very spacious and clean. You won't leave hungry or thirsty, nor will not be disappointed. It is worth the trip.
No good Fake-xican food. ...where to start, the rice was bland and tasteless. Not to mention it had peas in it. The refried beans were a dry paste. Probably because the heat lamp or oven over heated them and drew all the moister out.
The green tomatillo sauce for the enchiladas was very mild, as was the red sauce. Entrées came garnished with a "pico de gallo" that involved no jalapeños on chopped lettuce. And as if this place wasn't an atrocity already, they placed a sprig of parsley on the edge of the plate.
Cilantro would be more appropriate to the region of Mexico.
This place has the same symptoms as Don Pablo's and Baja Fresh.
If you want a mexi-fix, save 3 bucks and go to taco bell. But if you really want some mean ass good tacos try r&r at the mall. Yeah at the mall.
I've been here three times so far. I really like this place. the 5 dollar frozen margarita is very good. The guac is very good. I had three different dishes. I enjoyed all of them. my bf got some tacos he didn't care for. the dishes i really enjoyed was the enchilada suiza, tequila shrimp and chili verde. my fav was the shrimp. so glad there is a decent mexican restaurant so close by. going to be a regular for me.
Review Source:This place is just terrible all around. Â I prefer not to spend too much of my time on a place this horrible so I'll keep it short. Â
I don't expect great Mexican food in Maryland, but I don't even know if you could call what they serve food. Â The burrito I ate was bland and not very big for the money. Â The salsa was pretty good, the only bright spot. Â The food was overpriced to boot. Â The service was atrocious, as it took forever to get the server to take my order or pay me any attention in general. Â I got a Gin and Tonic and I could tell it was watered down. Â I actually sent it back, something I never do. Â
I have a decent amount of restaurant experience and I could tell the poor condition of this place was a reflection of the management/ownership.
Good service. Food was ok...the margaritas are really good...get the limecocorita! It's like a margarita and a pina colada in one. I got the cheese enchiladas and they were really good but really, how can you mess that up? My husband got the steak and chicken burrito and says it was just ok. The guacamole app was also excellent! Overall, I would go there again but I've had better Mexican.
Review Source:I ate here while on business. The service is fantastic and very friendly and welcoming. The food service is astonishingly quick - I perhaps had waited no more than 5-10 minutes between my order and the time the food arrived. I had the chile verde, which was very tasty. The beer is served nice and cold, and you never need to ask for a refill.
The waitstaff are stellar. I especially want to note the professionalism and kindness of Emily, who assisted my party with a member who had too much to drink. She took time away from her work to make sure he was ok and that we could assist him back to the hotel room. I was very impressed with her and hope that management will take positive notice of her actions to assist a customer. I would definitely come back here if we ever have further work in the area.
A mexican restaurant connected to a best western opened by Neel who used to own Neel's Kabob. Decor is a bit gaudy, with very stereotypical mexican elements and bright colors. Food is overpriced & not very authentic. I had the chicken enchilladas and it was very generic. The salsa that came with some chips tasted like something out of a can. The service was great though and very attentive. Overall I probably won't be back.
Review Source:We had a great dinner tonight. I have to say that we were very pleased. Not quite sure why glenn thinks the decor is off, but I think he is mistaken. As a frequent traveler to San Antonio (check my reviews), the decor of El Rodeo has a similar quality and theme as the Mexican restaurants I visited there.
For starters, my wife was warned by the waitress not to order the Champagne Sangrias but suggested that she try the White Peach Sangria instead. My wife was quite pleased with her drink. I ordered their Clasic Margaritas. My first one was a bit on the weak side, and to prove the point I asked my wife to taste it (she hates tequila) and said it tasted like lime. My second on the other hand had a nice kick and when I asked my wife to taste that one, she made a nasty face. She and I both noticed a difference in the two.
Chips and salsa was rapidly made available and refilled prior to our main course arriving to our table.
My wife ordered "Queso Chicken" served with cilantro rice and grilled veggies. Our first thought when the dish arrived was this didn't look Mexican or Tex-Mex, but it was a very attractive dish (see photos). The creamy queso cheese sauce was very good, rich and creamy and quite yummy. The cilantro rice was delish with a nice cilantro flavor and well seasoned. The grilled veggies took us by surprise as they looked like a side from a non-ethnic restaurant. The veggies consisted of gilled summer squash, brocolli, and carrots, well seasoned and very delish!!!
My order looked authentic Mexican/Tex-Mex and was absolutely yummy!! I ordered the "Ranchiladas", which was 3 steak enchiladas, refried beans with some cheese, and spanish rice. The steak enchiladas had a lovely Ranchero sauce. The black beans were well seasoned but didn't have enough cheese on top. The spanish rice was nicely seasoned and cooked perfectly.
They did forget the sour cream, but when I mentioned it, they brought it right out pronto.
Cons: The pico de gallo was very weak and quite disapointing. Not enough cilantro, lime, and salt, all you could taste was the tomato and onion.
All in all, I/we both really liked El Rodeo, and we plan on coming back. I love a good margarita and plan on coming during happy hours to take advantage of their drink special.
Went here on a Saturday night with my friend. It wasn't too crowded...The food was a bit pricey for the quality. I had a bbq chicken quesadilla which is far from traditional haha but it was good. I think we had to entree's and a beer each and our check was $31...The decor really threw me off though because I couldn't tell if they were going for authentic or like a modern bar...it was weird. anyway, if you want traditional I always say go with Fiesta Grill by harford mall.
Review Source:This review pertains to the food only, which is why I went to this "mexican restaurant".
If you are looking for authentic good mexican food this isnt even close to the place you want. In general Mexican food in Maryland is not good, or very hard to find...........there are some hidden gems in Baltimore and DC, but I wouldnt eat here again if someone paid me.
My gf had beef fajitas that were really really really bad. They were not seasoned well, the tortillas were equally bad. Â I had what was called a burrito, but tasted more like cheesy hamburger.
First impressions were not good. Â There was a private party taking the entire dining area so I had to sit in the bar at a high table and a high chair. Â Now I am really short, so hiking my butt up into that chair was a challenge! Â It was also really really LOUD -- the music.. Â Then I sat there while servers whizzed past me without stopping for 15 minutes. Â Yes, I timed it. The tables all around me turned and the new people had already been served. Â Finally asked someone if they would take my order and she said she would send someone. Â
Finally got a mango margarita which was sour. Â I will say though, for Yankees, they do know how to fix a good plate of nachos! Â I had bean and cheese nachos -- lots of good melty cheese and they didn't stint on the jalapenos either.
Then I very obviously pushed my plate and empty glass to the center of the table and waited...... someone (not my server) came up and asked if the food was good. Â I said yes, and he left. Â
I finally snagged my server and asked for the check, paid and got out of there. Â Even though it is very close to my hotel, I won't be back anytime soon..
Not sure why Nic had such a horrible experience....mine was the exact opposite. Also, I'm not sure why the fact that it's located in a Best Western has anything to do with the place. It's big enough that you don't even know it when you're inside.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff and most importantly, good food. I've been there twice since it opened. On my second visit I got the chicken enchiladas and they were excellent. My wife got the steak fajitas and it included REAL steak, not the jerky you get at some other places. Lastly, you won't suffer from claustrophobia here like you do at La Tolteca in Bel Air...this place is spacious, even when they're busy.
You're right--I should've known better! Against ALL my instincts, went and tried this 'Mexican' restaurant located in, that's right, a Best Western.
The salsa was a bit better than just tomato sauce out of a can. Ordered baja chicken fajitas. I've never had such bland food--the rice, chicken, bell peppers, and other veggies, not to mention the mysterious beef that showed up in my skillet. They have obviously never been introduced to salt, let alone any other spice or flavor. Ugh. The green stuff, theoretically guacamole, was probably the worst I've ever had.
Quote from the boyfriend concerning his meal--'Frozen El Patio burritos smell and taste better. Probably the worst 'Mexican' food I've ever had. I bet if you dropped a chicken breast on the floor, cooked it and ate it, it'd have more flavor than the chicken fajitas.'
Avoid it, run, flee, as if the hounds of hell are barking at your heels!
