We should've made reservations cause it was PACKED! We waited about 40 minutes for a table and when we were seated, we immediately got quite a few persisting stares. Maybe an Asian couple is not so common in this area so I understand... But it was definitely a weird vibe. Our waitress was friendly and very enthusiastic, though.
The food was nice, but meh. Portions are HUGE. We knew it was a tapa style restaurant but we did not expect that. For 2 people we ordered 3 dishes and it was a bit overwhelming. Next time we'll either order less or bring more people.
I loooove calamari salad. Ember's was fresh and delicious. It could use a little bit more acidity but it was still very tasty.
The 1lb Black Angus NY Strip Steak was flavorful but a bit overcooked.
Reading the reviews, I was really looking forward to the mac and cheese but it ended up being disappointing and dry. Maybe the 1,000 degree oven dried up all the cheesy goodness and left us with just tough macaroni.
Prices are very reasonable and the service is awesome so I would say it's worth a trip back.
