...This review reflects my experience there 2 years ago...

I went there with an X-Girlfriend and her family on a warm summer day. The ambiance was fantastic! The river running by our table set a really nice mood, plus Michael Hearne was playing cool tunes on his guitar.

I ordered the green chile burger, which was fantastic (although $11 is pretty steep for a burger), and my X's mother's mango lamb tacos were also very tasty. I don't remember what everyone else got.

Overall my experience was awesome, and I will definitely be down to come back next time I'm in NM during the summer.

Don't bother. Too many rules benefitting the staff and not the customer. The food is mediocre at best. Their hours of operation are quirky.  Too bad they won't let you just have a drink by the river and enjoy the outstanding view--another of their rules. Should be under new ownership by next year since I don't see them lasting very long.

We used enjoy going to Embudo Station and haven't been there for about 3 years.  Saturday afternoon seemed like a good road trip up the Taos canyon.  While everything looks and feels the same, it is just a "high-dollar" burger joint.  Seriously, burgers start at around $11 and go up.  We shared the 'Chimayo' burger and a salad, had a canned soda, and a murky iced tea. The tasteless burger had a small piece of tasteless green chili, and a teaser of some kind of tasteless cheese, no lettuce, no tomato, mayo, mustard, ketchup, or pickle.  Must be a 'purist' thing. Our wait person never offered to refill the tea 'jar', and we took a pass on dessert.  There may have been 1/4 pound of meat, (pre-cooked) but I sincerely doubt it.  Hamburgers at Blake's or Sonic are easily far superior to any burger Embudo is serving today. Total cost before tip was $21 and change.  I know next time we travel the low road to Taos, we will glance to the west as we pass Embudo Station, and remember what it used to be, but we won't be stopping there again.  Honk and wave as you drive by.  Sugars'  is less than 1/2 mile away.
